HT1040 iPhoto Book Order won't go through, can't get an answer

I have been all over Apple online help, FAQs, and online discussions on this topic and have not been able to get my book to print. The problem: when in iPhoto, I hit the Buy Book button, the white envelope appears. I enter the number of copies I want and zip code, then hit Check Out and NOTHING happens.
I am using iPhoto 9.5.1. I have successfully ordered books in the past. My Apple ID is up-to-date with Express Ordering checked, and all the correct address, phone, and credit card information. In System Preference, I have checked "Remote Apple Events" in File Sharing, I have previewed the book and printed a PDF. There are no text or image issues. But I still cannot buy my book. I checked into printing through PrestoPhoto, but have no way to ensure that the PDF document I printed from iPhoto is high quality, high-resolution.
None of the discussion or help information has resolved this problem. I have no idea where to go next, or how to even properly submit this query so I get a response. Why isn't there a community for iPhoto?
Thanks in advance for anyone that can help me print my books through Apple!

Re: All over Apple
Have you actually communicated with Apple Support | Contact ??
Have you been able to complete the process in the past or is this a NEW  misbehavior with v.9.5.1 OR were you using an earlier versions of iPhoto? If older version joy, what version?
Is this with ALL books? (remember, you can always bail put when you get past the step that is stopping you)
What about AppleCare ?? If your product is recent, should be a breeze to get support, as it appears to be an Apple-end issue?
The important Qs are what was the event  that changed your book printing life? Upgrade / Update. Other new software? None of that = Apple end issue?
best luck

  • Apple cancelled my iphoto book order....I can not contact them

I placed an order for an iphoto book 2 days ago. Yesterday I could log online and see my order status (it was set to printing). Today there is no record of my order, and I am quite worried. Any ideas of why this might have happened or if there is anyone to contact other than "[email protected]". I ordered another iphoto book 2 weeks ago and had no problem with that order. Please help!!!!!

    Sully,
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
If you click on the entire iPhoto category of discussions, http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=143 there is a category announcement (look in the right column) regarding the print services being temporarily unavailable today from 10:00 a.m. PT - 12:15 p.m. PT.
Perhaps you are not able to see your order status during this down time. Wait for this time to pass, then see if you can access your order's information.
    Regards.

  • IPhoto Book Order Won't Work

I created a book in iPhoto, but every time I hit "Buy Book", I get a message telling me a connection couldn't be established and to check my internet connection. I'm having no problem getting on the internet or getting e-mail, so that isn't the problem. Help?

1 - try againlater - this could be a temporary issue
2 - go to the apple store and log into your account - http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?sf=wHF2 F2PHCCCX72KDY&nnmm=acct - and be sure it is correct and that One Click purchasing is on

  • Low budget image proofing for iPhoto book order

    Hello!
I want to prepare my photos the best I can for iPhoto book ordering (Christmas present for family).
I have a Dell U2711 attached to a Mac Mini running OS X 10.6.8 and iPhoto '11 9.2.1. and a Canon Selphy CP520 dye sub printer which I thought to use as a precheck of what my JPG sRGB images would look like when printed in a book.
    Here's my headache:
If I set up the monitor and calibrate the display profile as suggested in post #1 under this thread then such setup makes me color correct the photos by RADICALLY pushing the midtone slider in the levels adjustments to the left (brightening the picture). Prints that come out of the Selphy under this setup are a perfect match to what I see on the monitor and that is wonderful. However, I hesitate to order a book using such images because they appear far too bright on an iMac for example. (Perhaps I should mention that Google logo in Safari looks like its on steroids in this setup).
On the other hand, if I set up the monitor as it came from factory (PC gamma, standard preset), and use the default DELL U2711 display profile in SystemPreferences, then pictures look relatively ok on screen without any radical color correction. But prints that come out of Selphy with this setup don't match what is on the display, prints are too dark, and again I hesitate to order a book with such images.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.
    Mato

Yes - don't try so hard and use your Mac and iPhoto - not a PC
iPhoto is designed as a consumre level program for point and shoot comeras - many people (including me) report excellent results using it that way - load sRGB photos form a digital camera and do minimal processing on them - never do major color adjustments - using iPhoto - preview rthe book -
Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.
    and order
Apples comments on this are here
Of the negative comments posted here nearly all of them were from people who spend lots of time and energy adjusting photos trying to second guess the printing process and failing to do so - Apple does have an unconditional sastisfaction guarentee - do it the simple way - less is more in this case

Just got off the phone with apple support.  If the photo book completes the assembly process but fails during the upload process the problem is in their overloaded servers. They just started a free shipping promotion for the holidays which has increased the traffic dramatically. I bought a calendar a week ago and it went right through. I'm going to try again during less peak times.

  • Iphoto book order cancelled - Totally dissatisfying customer service

This message to alert you that Apple might cancel your iPhoto book order for no reason !
This is what just happened to me, leaving me in a totally dissatisfying and frustrating situation, as I did everything to have this book in time for Christmas, had to go through over an hour on the helpline with Customer Services, whose agents are badly informed on the solutions that they can offer you when such mistakes happen ---
I ordered an iphoto book on December 14, in order to have it in time for Christmas.
Nothing was reported wrong or erroneous when I placed the order and uploaded the book. Two days later, Apple cancelled my order without any notification sent to me. I have only learned about it on December 21, worried that my book had not arrived yet. I checked online about my order status, which then said "order cancelled". No explanation why. I waited for Monday December 23 in order to be able to talk from someone at Customer Services. I was then told that my order had been cancelled because one picture and text was overlapping, but they could not tell me exactly which one. It was then suggested to me that I should replace the same order and call back so that they could accelerate the process.
I placed the order and sent the exact same book to Apple again and then called back. Another assistant from Customer Services advised me that there was nothing they could do in order to accelerate the printing and delivery process. All they COULD HAVE offered me was 15% discount, which the first assistant did not mention and which now was too late for me to benefit from since I had already placed the order. Also, I was told that my exact same order did not produce any issue for printing, so that the first cancellation was in fact made without any reason.
This leaves me with the following situation: Although I have placed my first order in time for it to arrive before Christmas, I end up with no Christmas present, over an hour lost on the phone with customer services, no discount, no accelerated printing or delivery process or any other gesture in order for my infuriating situation to be less so, and a photo book that will arrive in early January when I will have already left my family to work abroad again.
I am entirely dissatisfied with the quality of the Apple iphoto book service and Apple customer services. I have not obtained any help or remedy from your customer services although several mistakes had been made on their side.
You are well advised to consider alternatives before spending hours on creating an iphoto book...

Anne, that is really outragious. And I cannot understand why the support did nothing to rectify their mistake and help you to get your book printed in time. The support teams at the Print Products Stores probably will not read these these Forums, these are user-to-user discussions. So, to make Apple listen to your justified complaint, use the feedback form.

  • I have alot of loose photos at home (old) and I would love to make a bunch of iphoto books and make the pages like whole page collages?  How do I get my photos into iphoto in order to do this?  Can I make a DVD at the drugstore and add them to iphoto?

You can make the collages easily if you have iWork.  Just open a letter sized page in landscape mode and drag the photos onto the page, rotate and postiion as necessary.  Then do a Print ➙ PDF ➙ Save PDF to iPhoto to get a 200 dpi jpeg version of the Pages page into iPhoto.  From there you can add it to your book and use a blank page with the option to have an image as the backbround.
If you have a 3rd party image editor that supports layers you can create the collage with it.

    Hello Mac4541,
It sounds like you may have reinstalled OS X on your 2008 MacBook and iPhoto didn't get installed.
Given the specifications of your unit, iPhoto may be on a separate install DVD.

  • I'm running iPhoto '08 version 7.1.5. My collection of 25,000  photos on iPhoto library is completely empty. How can I get them back?

I'm running iPhoto '08 version 7.1.5. My collection of 25,000  photos on iPhoto library is completely empty. How can I get them back?
I dragged one photo to the My Pictures folder in Finder. I knew it was just one photo because it was the only one highlighted in yellow. When I saw it in Finder, it was labled iPhoto. I thought it was the wrong picture, so in Finder I deleted the file. When I got back to iPhoto, EVERYTHING was missing. Events, photos, recent, and even trash. At this point, I went into my Trash. I searched for iPhoto and iPhoto was there. I opened it and it was still empty. All I want to do is to get my collection of photos back!

Best solution is to load your backup from before you did this?
Where did you drag the photo from?
Have you tried dragging it from the trash to the desktop?  What size is it?
What size is your iPhoto library in the pictures folder?

  • I've now had the message "We are still processing your order. It could take up to 24 hours. Please check back later."for 60 hours. Why can I get no answer from the online support and why is Adobe the only online software company that takes days and days t

I'm on a Mac, and Lightroom comes up with "update available, download now", so I go to download it and find that actually it is a paid for upgrade. So I pay for it, and then have to wait days for Adobe to "confirm" the purchase. It the meanwhile the demo which downloaded itself is saying "trial period over" and said that immediately (i.e. no trial period). How do you get Adobe to respond? I can't get an answer?

  • Why does Apple keep caneling my iPhoto book order?!?

I have tried twice to orderan iPhoto book and both times it was canceled. The first time because you have to have iPhoto 6.0.1 or later (though they never tell you this when you are going through all the ordering process). This second time I ordered it 10 days ago using 6.0.4 and everything seemed fine. Until today when I checked the order online and it says that it has also been canceled (10 days after I placed the order!). These were to be christmas gifts... and worst of all Apple has NO PHONE SUPPORT of iPhoto orders! PLEASE HELP!!!!

    TheRobin:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Did you try contacting them thru http://www.apple.com/support/iphoto/customerservice/orderbooks/ ? That's the official point of contact.
Check all of your text boxes to make sure there are no characters, returns, etc., below the visible window. Usually there should be a yellow caution triangle in the text box.
Be sure you're not using some unusual font that didn't come with your Mac.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application, iPhoto dB file backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
