HT1103 How can I burn a slideshow (with sound) to a DVD.  I have an imac desktop.

Does anyone know how to burn a slideshow to a dvd disc.  It has pictures, video and music.  LLaBant

To create a video DVD disk that can be played in set top DVD players and shown on a TV set you need a DVD video authoring application, like iDVD.  If you do not have iDVD on your Mac you'll have to purchse it by bying a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com.
Why iLife 09 and not 11:
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.
1 - once you have iDVD installed export the slideshow out of iPhoto at Size = Medium or Large:
2 - 0pen iDVD, select your theme and drag the exported movie file into the menu window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
3 - follow this workflow to help ensure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

Apple's builtin "iPhoto" application can do that easily.  Open iPhoto and click on "Help" at the top of the screen for assistance in creating it.

Ask in the iDVD forum on what's the best way out of iPhoto and into iDVD.  The resident expert there, Bengt Wärleby, can give you the best option.

  • How can I burn more than 1 movie to a DVD when there is room on the disc for it. Premiere wants to overwrite once 1 movie is burned to the disc

How can I burn more than 1 movie onto a DVD? Once 1 movie is burned successfully to the disc, I try to burn another movie and Premiere wants to overwrite the first movie. One movie is 1.2 GB, second is 2.3; so there is room on a 4.7 GB DVD-RW.

What you report is what it is.
Each burn to of Timeline content to DVD-VIDEO format on DVD disc results in the disc containing one OpenDVD Folder and one VIDEO_TS Folder.
Only one VIDEO_TS Folder can be put on a DVD-VIDEO disc even when Premiere Elements is not involved. I have seen that written about online, and I have
never found a way to overcome what seems to be basic behavior description of DVD-VIDEO..
Premiere Elements will allow you to write to a disc with content already on it, but only after you give the OK for erasing the disc content before going ahead
    with the burn to.
If you have several movies, one possibility is to build a Timeline with the movies, use stop markers, and setup disc menus according so that the viewer
can selectively watch the movies. More on that later if wanted.
Any questions or need clarification, please ask.
    Thank you.

  • How can I burn a slideshow to a DVD from with in iPhoro?

I have several slideshows that I spent a long time working on on a old drive that I don't use. How can I bring the slideshows across in tact so that I don't have to spend a huge amount of time organizing the photos again and, even worse, having to redo all the manual Ken Burn's effects so that zoom right from one part of the photo to the other part.
I suppose I could send the slideshow to iDVD but I don't think I would then be able to import it into iPhoto.

Yes. To get a larger, widescreen, QT movie you will have to use iMovie. I recommend you useiMovie HD 6 as it's much better for adding music, etc.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • How can I make a slideshow with music and burn it to a disk?

I need to make a photo slideshow with music and burn it to a disk. I am able to make the slideshow but I cant figure out how to save it or burn it to a disk.

How do you want to play the slideshow?  On another computer or on a TV set?
If it's the former export the slideshow as a QT movie file to the desktop and burn that file to a disk with the Finder.
If you want to create a video DVD of the slideshow so that it can be viewed on a TV set, use the Share ➙ iDVD menu option.  That will export the slideshow into iDVD where you can complete the menu and project design.
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.  To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good and you can then burn to disk with Disk Utility at the slowest speed available to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatium, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • Premiere CS5 import avi clips without sound. How can I import avi clips with sound without convert?

    Dear Adobe Forum,
I have the following problem, please help:
I would like to import avi clips in adobe premiere. All clips have the same avi codec. But unfortunately my adobe premiere does not import the sound of a few
avi clips. It is wired because about 10 out 70 avi clips which have all the same avi codec does not work with sound in premiere CS5. In the timline premiere import the video and audio line but there are no audio waves in the about 10 avi clips. additonally premiere plays the 10 avi clips in the source monitor without sound. Furthermore when I open the 10 avi files without adobe premiere they have sound, but with premiere there are no sound in the 10 avi clips.
What can I do, so that I can import all avi files with sound. I do not want to convert each of the avi files because then they have not a good quality and it is to complicated and it takes to much time to convert all files in this video project and in the other video project in my future.
Consequently How can I import all avi files so that they have immediately sound? Do I have to change some premiere settings?
    Thank you in advance
    Leonardo

Consequently, as you can see, they have both nearly the same information
Both video clips have the following audio codec:
    AAC
In the folder where all raw video clips exist there are a few new files with the codec ending: .AVD ("the name of the file".AVD)
But the 2 video clips mentioned above does not have any files like .AVD oder something else like that. But the first one works and the second one doesnt work.

  • How do I burn a slideshow from iPhoto to a DVD?

How do I burn a slidshow from iPhoto to a DVD?

Export the slideshow from iPhoto, that makes a movie of it.
Do you want to use this DVD in a domestic DVD player? If so, then the disk will have to be 'authored' to make it the correct form for that. If you have iDVD then that's the app you use. However, iDVD is no longer developed or distributed by Apple. You may be able to get it on an old iLIfe install disk.
    Other options:
    Burn: http://macupdate.com/app/mac/21992/burn
    Toast: http://macupdate.com/app/mac/6351/toast-titanium
But there are lots of others too. Search on the App Store or MacUpdate

  • Apple does not provide IDVD, now how can i burn my slideshow?

I am professional photographer, and i do not find a way to burn my slideshow

    DVDs are obsolete technology.  Period.
I understand that you are preaching the gospel from Hollywood and Apple. I have friends in Hollywood they eagerly promote downloading and digital copies. Their ultimate goal is to "pay-per-view" for each device. They despise the entire concept of anyone having a physical copy of a complete movie.
There's no disputing that with any valid information.
I have lots of valid information, and I am disputing it.
Just because DVDs are still on sale, that doesn't mean they're top-of-the-line.
Just because downloading and streaming is a newer technology does not mean that it benefits the consumer.   New does not equal better.
It sounds like you're implying that physical media shouldn't be backed up.
All media should be backed up if you are legally allowed to do so.   I own about 1700 DVDs (many of which are not available from Netflix, or iTunes.  NONE of these DVDs have EVER failed.   In my years of using computers I've had well over a dozen hard drives fail (and I buy good ones).  So I view DVDs as much more reliable.
It would seem to me that backing up a digital copy is EASIER to maintain because you can highlight it, then click "duplicate."
That may or may not be the case. Many digital copies are “locked” to a particular device or set of devices. On the other hand, DVDs can be lent, given away and even sold if you wish. I don't think there's any way to resell a digital copy that you no longer want.
Has the PC patrol already edited it before you buy it on disc?
Your point is valid. That's where eBay comes in handy.  If you're after an original version of the movie. As mentioned above you can't buy a used digital movie.
Get past the obligatory FBI warning.  Sometimes there are previews that can't be skipped.
I hate all that to. Some of the digital copies I have purchased start with the same hassles, with no way to skip over them.  I'm sure you know that you can purchase a DVD player with UOPs  (User Operation Prohibited)  disabled. With these players you can instantly navigate a DVD.
Just to nit-pick, DVDs, CDs, and even BluRay's are digital.  They're no less digital than a file on a computer's hard drive.
You are completely right of course. I'm falling victim to Hollywood terminology “digital copy included”. Your standard DVD is also a digital copy.
I have no objection whatsoever to your preferred method of collecting movies.  I prefer physical optical discs (DVDs). Hollywood can make a LOT more money with the elimination of DVDs, which is why they are pushing it so hard.

  • How can I burn a slideshow to a disc?

So I made a slideshow using keynote. I've tried numerous times to burn it to a disc by dragging the saved slideshow on my desktop to the disc and then burning it, which is what Finder Help says to do. However, the disc won't read in a Windows computer or a DVD player. The files are there, but they are in the wrong order, without music, and won't play like a slideshow should. Is it because the file type is unsupported? Or is it just that I'm burning it wrong? Whatever it is, can someone please help me? I'm so frustrated!!

Greetings and Welcome to the Forum:
Dragging the KN file to the desktop and "burning" it to a disc only copies the file, it does not make it playable on another computer (or DVD player) unless it is re-opened as a KN file.
To make it playable on another machine (especially a DVD player or non-Mac computer), you need to Export the KN file to another format: QuickTime, iMovie, etc. Be aware that there currently are issues with QuickTime 7.5 and Keynote that are a result of some poor software writing by the good folks at Apple. Keep watching this forum for further details and updates.
    Good luck.
