HT1199 Battery Lights Dim

So I was ready to play Minecraft when  I resized the window (because the default one is kind of small) and since the last Minecraft (MC) update, the window flashed white and red when resizing. I was resizing it when it froze, and the display froze. Well. I took out the charger, slept it, unslept it, and at last it displayed the white screen, then the login-after-sleep window, and I quit Minecraft.
But that isn't the question.
Since that, the battery lights have become dimmer, as in the green lights being duller. Also you know how they usually fade out after a bit? Well, now they just go out without fading, if you know what I mean. Please help! What's wrong!

You have a 1-year warranty. If you call after 90 days, they ask for a credit card and will charge you if and only if the problem turns out to be not covered by warranty. If your problem is a bad battery, you will not be charged for phone support.
That said, they will probably ask you to reset the SMC and PRAM to see if that fixes the problem, so you should try that first:

  • Dual Monitor + Lights Dim/Lights Out

Forgive me if this has already been discussed:
I have 3 monitors, two high resolution main monitors and a 21" Cintiq.
(My normal mode is to open PS on the Cintiq, put all menus on one of the high res monitors and use the other high res monitor for a larger view of the edits that are being made on the Cintiq.)
Lightroom is single monitor, and I can live with that for now but there is one feature - Lights Dim mode and Lights Out mode - that just plain does not work if I want to use the other monitors to open any other application. The monitors without Lightroom are also dimmed or blacked out, so the other application becomes useless.
Here's an example: If I'm running Lightroom on monitor 1 while also viewing one of the Luminous Landscape Lightroom Tutorials on monitor 2 I can't use the Lights Dim mode or Lights Out mode - it dims or blacks the video. Ouch! (Maybe there's a preference setting I haven't found yet?)

I don't think this is a bug. The whole point of the "Lights Out" feature is
to minimize and remove distractions while you are evaluating your images for
color, color casts and exposure. So, I am going to guess that Adobe feels
the other screens to also be a distraction. They could be right. However,
given that I figure a good number of people may not feel that way
(sometimes, not all of the time I am that way. Three monitors here by the
way) needs to add a preference setting that lets you decide which monitors
go "Lights Out" similar to the slide show playback monitor selection option.

  • My iPod shuffle could be seen on iTunes, but it cannot be charged and don't play music. The battery light do not flash at all.

Like what I mentioned, the iPod do not work, it won't play music and the battery light do not flash.
But it shows in iTunes, and I could sync music into it.
I tried to reset all the settings of the iPod, and installed all the new software, but it does not work.
I don't know if it works before, my friend left it to me. I erased all the data she used before and syncronized all my music inside.
But it just never worked in my hand...
I really appreciate all feedbacks! Thanks and please answer this question if you have the similar situation!!

Are you using the USB docking cable that came with the iPod?  There are separate contact points for power and data, so it is possible for the cable to connect for data, but not for power.  Some third-party replacement cables may be of lower quality, if you do not have the original cable
However, it seems to be getting power, since the shuffle is operating when connected and you are able to sync when it is connected.  So I think your USB docking cable is working.
That leaves a problem with the USB port or a problem on the shuffle.
For the USB port, it may not be supplying sufficient power to charge the battery.  As a test, you should shut down (power off) the computer and disconnect all USB devices, including hub, except for standard keyboard and mouse (if normally used).  If the Mac is a laptop, connect its power adapter (so that it's not running on battery power).  Do this to reset the shuffle
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1655
Start up the Mac, run iTunes, and connect the shuffle to a direct USB port on the Mac.  Any difference...?
If that does not help, it may be a problem with the shuffle, such as a worn out battery.

  • Simple battery light question

When my battery is taken out of the computer, pressing the button on my battery causes the first light to blink. When putting it in the computer and plugging in the power adapter, the first light blinks continuously, and the power adapter's color changes to an orange color.
Is this normal? Is this just an indication of the battery charging? Or is there a problem with the battery?

Hi smtlaissezfaire, welcome to Apple Discussions!
If the battery light blinks then this indicates that it needs to be recharged.
The power adapter should stay orange while the battery is charging and upon completion will turn green.
Have you been able to charge the battery until the adapter turns green?
What do the battery lights do then if you press the button?

  • Blinking battery light when fully charged

My battery light is blinking (low battery power warning) but the battery is fully charged.  I installed a brand new battery, left the AC adapter on overnight, and this morning had a blinking battery light.  It doesn't seem to be a problem except that I won't be able to tell when the battery really is low?  Thoughts anyone?

On buying MBP with retina display, one of the Apple genius in the store advised never overcharge it and till date I am acting upon his advice.
Also, he stated don't put your MBP for continuous charging. Charge it in the same way same as you do for your mobile phone.
Anyways, I'll keep on looking charged status (100% charge) like what I and other iPhone users do.
Actually, I take well care of my belongings and iPhone being a premium product, I raised this concern.
Anyways, Thank you very much for your kind support.
The genius was misinformed. There is no way to over charge an Apple battery powered device. The charging circuits in the device itself will never allow that to happen. Once the battery is fully charged, charging stops no matter what you do or don't do to the device.
BTW, this is not an Apple thing. The over charge protection is actually part of the international engineering standards for smart lithium battery technology.

  • Satellite A500 - Battery light flashes when connected to mains power

    Win 7 Satellite A500 PSAM3A-03P00E.
The battery light flashes when connected to mains power (intermittent fault), when I unplug mains and re-connect flashing stops and battery (high capacity) continues to charge.
Also when battery light flashes the key board back lighting stays on when it should blank out and if the back lighting is off and the battery light starts flashing the key board back lighting doesn't turn on, all other functions seem to work fine.
The battery charges and holds charge as it should (when light flashes battery doesn't charge).

    Hi
Did you notice this issue from first day of purchase?
Theoretically it could be possible that your battery starts to malfunction
At the other hand an electronic issue might be possible too
    However, try this:
Remove ac adaptor and battery. Then press and hold power buttons 30 sec long.
Then insert the battery and connect AC adaptor again does it helps?
By the way: is BIOS up to date? If not, perform an update.

    Solved!

All fixed, the earth contact in the power jack was bent down allowing intermittent contact and limiting current. I bent the contact back up to where it should be and all is good.

This is what's causing the crash, and it sounds related to PrintFab.
From googling, it looks like removing /library/printers/ppd plugins/printfabpde.plugin will get rid of the crash, but I don't know if that will  make the driver unusable.
    Hope this help.

  • T40 2373-8CU battery light stays on when unit unplugged and shut down

i have a T40 that the battery light stays on with the unit shut down and unplugged.  It would appear that the battery is always discharging with this issue.

I think you may have already been told what the problem is.  However look at this and maybe it will help:

  • Constant Orange Battery Light

I had my iBook G4 plugged in and it was fully charged. Suddenly, the light turned orange and the battery slowly drained down until the computer ran out and the display went black.
The battery light is orange but I cannot get the computer to turn on. I tried the PMU reset but the computer did not do anything.
    Any ideas?

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Had any kind of accident happened to the iBook or the adapter before this happened?
My best guess would be that your adapter has quit working.
Do you know someone else with an iBook so you can swap adapters and see if that is the problem?

  • Aspire Ethos 8951g Blinking Battery Light - Won't Boot

When I press the power button on my Aspire Ethos 8951g, the battery light blinks five times at a one second interval and nothing else happens. If I use the switch to disconnect the battery, the battery light does not blink and the computer will not boot. So far I've tried to do a power reset by using the switch to disconnect the integrated battery, removing the RAM, and holding the power button for 90 seconds. It had no effect.  I also bought a new AC adapter, which also had no efffect.  Does anyone know what the five flashes mean? I can't find it in any documentation. The battery life had been pretty good up until this point.

    IllN,
Typically the blinking battery light means it has no charge. Here are a few things I can think of:
Purchasing a new charging adapter rules that out. (good job!)
Is the charging port connection snug, or is it loose at all? Can you still see the pin inside the port?
    Purchase a new battery.
    Mainboard could be bad.

  • Lightroom 5 Final, Big bug with Function "Light Dim"

    Hello,
Found this bug in many Pcs (With Win 7) in x64 Bits AND x32
When i use the option "Lights Dim" (in Menu "Lights Out") when i quit Lightroom 5, lr 5 Crashes after the ending.
Receive windows message "Lightroom 5 Has Chrashing ...etc..."
I search to understand, and i think have know.
Before the V5, no crash (V4.4. for exemple), and with this versions,  "Lights Dim" function is intergrate into "lightroom.exe"
With the Lr5 Version ONLY  "Lights Dim" is extrenal ans is used by "Slideshow.Dll"
For verify this, very easy, just move  "Slideshow.Dll" in you desktop, and you see the  "Lights Dim" not run.
After always testing, you see also the Option "Light Off" runs always good, and "Light On" same.
This in one little piece of this 3 function is external, it's very dirty, and crashes.
Pse (developpers) note this bug and in 5.1, integrate this 3 functions into Lightroom5.Exe
Best regards, and sorry for my very bad English

I am having the same issue and wondered what was the issue. Thank you for posting; now I remember Lightroom didn't start doing this until I updated to Mac OS Maverick. The only time I don't have that problem is when I physically disconnect my secondary display from my computer.

  • I have a second generation shuffle and even though (after charging ) the green battery light is on - soon after it turns orange and then red. Is there a problem with the battery and is it fixable?

I have a second generation shuffle and even though (after charging) the green battery light is on it soon turns orange and red. Is there a problem with the battery and if so is it fixable?

If it's a 2nd gen shuffle, it is probably about six years old at this point.  The cause is likely to be a worn out battery that is no longer able to hold its charge for very long.
It is technically fixable.  This web site has repair guides
    http://www.ifixit.com/Device/iPod_Shuffle
But it is very small, so you need to be good at doing such things.  The cost to have a repair shop do the work is likely to be uneconomical, compared to the cost of a brand new 4th gen shuffle ($50), which has more features (and possibly double the storage) plus a one-year warranty.
