HT1202 unable to set iPod to manually sync

When I connect my iPod nano to my pc, I get prompted to restore it.  However, I do not wish to restore the iPod because I use another computer with it, also.
I located an Apple help file that guided me to the Summary tab within iTunes.  When I select the Summary tab for my iPod nano to set it to manually sync music, nothing happens.  I am operating iTunes 11.0.2.25.
Please advise.

  • Ipod wont manually sync or play music?

My son's Ipod nano recently stopped working like it should; it has stopped letting us manually drag music/videos on to the ipod or even letting us play music from the ipod through the computer. The manual sync option is turned on, but we cant manually manage the music, except by syncing/re-syncing everything which deletes everything and replaces it with the itunes library (which has extraneous songs on it). We have restored the Ipod to factory settings 2 times now and it hasnt helped at all. If anyone has a helpful suggestion it would be greatly appreciated.! P.S- The ipod has been tried with three different computers with no luck.

I can't help you on this but I could give you help. If you have a apple store close by you sould make a aponitment on the apple stores website this is how 1. Type in the location and apple store (exzmple:Apple Store Pacific Centre) 2. Go to genius do not say member it means you work at apple go on guest and follow the enstroctions. If you don't seach apple's suport page.
I hope this works good luck!!

  • Unable to set the apn manually about the hotspot iphone4 with ios7.1

Hello, I am writing in a forum and all the people who have updated their iphone4 ios7.1 to have the same problem, that it is impossible to set the apn manually.
Here in Italy with the carrier (wind), we have tried all kinds of recovery, and also to contact the carrier says that of course is not at fault, because his apn is always the same.
The solution is what? The only one I found is to use my old nokia and abandon my iphone4 with the hope that apple proceed to fix the problem ...............

When I insert the data apn and go back the data are not saved and therefore I can not use it as a hotspot, but if I insert the data to the cellular data network apn and mms, they remain saved and then I have no problem.
Only apn hotspots have this bug.
From what I understand happens with iphone4.

  • Can i set iPHOTO to manually sync?

Is there any way to set my sync options so that the phone doesn't automatically open iPhoto and sync it? I rarely have photos that need syncing -- so I'd rather do it manually.
    thanks.

Wow, this did not work for me. Every time I plug my phone in iPhoto will start. At this point I have turned off all syncing options I can find in iTunes. So, the phone is not syncing information. Still, relentlessly, iPhoto jumps to life when the phone is pluged in.
I have tried turning the iPhoto sync on. Syncing. Then turning the sync back off. And I still get iPhoto at plugin.
At this point I just hate iPhoto. Can I just delete the app? Maybe the Safari pop up blocker can be of help here..

  • Photosmart printer will not connect to network, unable to set IP Address Manually

My Photosmart printer has worked fine for a long time but it now refuses to connect to the network.  It is wired into the router and I have changed the lead and this shows no chnage.  The Printer network set-up shows an IP address of 0.0.0.0 in manual mode and if I reset this and press OK it immediately reverts to 0.0.0.0.  I've also tried putting the printer into Automatic IP address but it still fails.  Subnet Mask and Default Gateway also show as 0.0.0.0.  I can reset the Subnet Mask and Gateway to the correct levels but as soon as I go back to set the IP address they revert to 0.0.0.0.  The printer will work from a USB connection but it will then not share correctly.   Is it possible to reboot the onboard program?

    Oh, an ISP-supplied router.  Uggh.
OK, remove the phone (DSL) cord from the back of the router.  Cycle power on the router, then attach the printer with the phone cord disconnected.
Now, Let's set a static IP address for the printer:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). You can find the DHCP range of the router using its internal settings page or in its manual. Use the CD that came with your router or type the router's IP address (ends in .1) into a browser.
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway and first DNS. Leave the second one blank.
    - Click 'Apply'.
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Manually syncing my ipod

I have an external hard drive that had my entire itunes library on it. It accidentally got disconnected and because of that all the data was lost.
I have thousands of songs on my ipod and I don't want to lose them. Is there a way to manually sync my ipod before plugging it into the computer because I'm afraid if I do I'll lose my library for good?
So I need to know how to set up a manual sync before plugging my ipod in.
My email address is [email protected]
    Thanks.

So about the external hard drive... Did you actually lose stuff off the hard drive? Or, did you just corrupt the iTunes files and the media files are still on the external hard drive and you just need to rebuild or re-add the files back to your library?

  • Ipod nano wont sync or restor

This is my first ipod of any kind. and i just got the Ipod Nano 4th gen. when i go to the summary tab to restore original settings after going through all of it a window opens up and says "There was a problem downloading the iPod software for the ipod "iPod". You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."
i had at first tried syncing it to my Realplayer but then found that would not work even tho thats where i had been getting most of my music. It had asked me to set the Ipod to manual syncing or something like that i cant remember but it wont repeat it. anyways it set it to that for me and now i cant seem to get ipod to work with itunes at all... I just want it to sync with itunes and ill use that only to save the trouble.
I have went through all the steps to reseting it according to the apple support site but it did not work.

  • IPod Nano manually manage songs - please help

I've set iPod to manually manage as I have music on home computer and have purchased music on the office computer since we have DSL. I have tried to drag each purchased song from Library to my iPod in the source list but they never show up once I disconnect. What am I doing wrong?
    Nano   Windows XP

Have you played the songs in iTunes for a few seconds? This will authorize them. Now sync your iPod. Do they play?
If not, make sure everything is up to date on your computer and iPod..
    iTunes
    iPod Updater
    Updating iPod's Software
If that doesn't work, in iTunes, go to advanced-->deauthorize computer. Now play the songs in iTunes. It will ask for your account information (from the iTunes Music Store). Enter that. Now play a few purchased songs for a few seconds. Sync your iPod. Do the songs work now?
If they don't, please post back for more suggestions.

  • Cannot change song order in Manual Sync mode

    Hello,
A few years ago my parents bought me a laptop, I have my iPod on Manual Sync mode so none of my music from my old computer is lost.
However, I've noticed that if you are in Manual Sync mode, you cannot control the order songs are listed in with iTunes. When I used to sync it automatically, if I said I wanted songs in a playlist on my iPod sorted by "name" or "artist" in iTunes, it would update accordingly on the iPod, but now it does not! This is really annoying if I have just dumped songs in no particular order, I have to pay careful attention while scrolling.
Is there some kind of solution to this problem, or can I report it to Apple somehow so they can release an update fixing this? It's driving me nuts!
    Thanks,
    Leah

I Can’t take credit for this, someone (riffraff)posted it long ago, but I’ve had to use it each time iTunes updates.
    1. This will erase your play lists and music list. May want to have them saved somewhere to import from later
    2. Close iTunes
    3. I went to music folder then to iTunes and under this directory
    4. I deleted iTunes Library files, library, extras, and genius
(Actually I just moved them to a new folder on the desktop if things go wrong)
    5. started iTunes.
    6. Got shaken when no songs in the music list
    7. select add folder to library
    8. select your music folder-probably iTunes Music folder
    9. let run
    10. I plugged in my shuffle, copied 5 podcasts to a playlist. Arrange in the order you want. Sync to the iPod. Detach and check. It worked for me.

  • HT1386 My Ipod and Ipod touch both sync and update latest CD music added to Itunes, however when I connect my Iphone it wont sync my most recent CD addition to iTunes?

My Ipod and Ipod touch both sync and update latest CD music added to Itunes, however when I connect my Iphone it wont sync my most recent CD addition to iTunes?

I have my iTunes settings to prevent my iPod from synching automatically.
Open iTunes (without the iPod Touch connected) , go to "iTunes"--->"Preferences"--->"Devices", select the box that says "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from synching automatically", select "OK".
I would then close iTunes and then reopen it.  Verify that the settings you just changed are intact.
Log into the iTunes store and update any Apps that you may have purchased.
Connect the iPod Touch via USB with iTunes open.  You will see the icon on the left side under "Devices" as normal, however it will not automatically sync.
Click on the "Device" in iTunes and from there you can manually adjust all the items you want to sync and then select sync when you are ready.
I sync mine this way because I feel it gives me more control over the syncing process.  Also, I always log into the iTunes store first, check for updates to my Apps and then connect the iPod to manually sync.
So, to me, I guess that perhaps is a way to "force" the sync but in a controlled manner.
    I hope that helps.

  • Manually Sync?

Is there a way for Apple TV not to sync to my itunes library?.
I have a season pass for Lost in HD, each episode is about 1.2 GHz which is a lot!. I Have my iTunes Library on my Mac Book Pro that has only 160 GHz and is almost full from my work stuff so I don't have enough space on my hard drive to put what is already in my apple TV. In other words, why do I have to duplicate all my media files? if they already are on my Apple TV (because I wanted to watched on my "Big Flat Screen") why they have to "sync back" to my laptop? Why there is an option like in iPod to manually sync?

To expand on Winston's comments - have you ever wondered how you transfer purchases off AppleTV say music to put on your iPod or a movie to watch on a second AppleTV?
The answer is that there is actually no manual method of moving files from AppleTV to a computer (no reason they couldn't have such a feature), so they have this automatic 'reverse sync' to add the files to iTunes - you should then back up the files to DVD or external drive in case your AppleTV or iTunes library drive fails and you lose them.
AppleTv cannot be regarded as a storage or backup device as you can't manually move content off it - personally I think this is a bit crazy as nearly every other day someone gets a hard drive/computer failure and wants to know how to rescue files from an AppleTV - theer are convoluted geeky methods for doing so but no readily accessible one.

  • How do I force a manual sync for my iPod touch w/iTunes v.11.0.1.2?

After the upgrade to iTunes 11.0.1.2 I am unable to find a way to force a manual sync for my iPod Touch.  Also, some of the podcasts seem not to go into the proper folders, they wind up in an "unkown album" folder after downloading.  Is there a way to fix this or even manually move them into the proper folders(albums)?

If you  have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar and Control+B to show the Menu bar
To sync to your iPod go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod....>Sync You Device>Set up Syncing>Sync your device manually and follow the instructions.

  • New iPod Touch 32gb stalls after starting sync, error 54, manual synce gets dumped

I just got this thing at Walmart last Sunday and its been driving me nuts all week! It's the brand new iPod Touch 32gb 4gen. When trying to sync it will start to load music then stall. Sometimes it gives error code 54, sometimes says it cant convert song, cant find song, or just stalls. If I wait anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour it will finally un-freeze and dump everything or say the connection has timed out. I've ran repair on iTunes from control panel, no help. Un-installed iTunes and re-installed it then tried synce, no help. I un-selected everything in the iPod summary so that it wont try to synce when I connect it and selected manual synce. Then I could sync a few songs at a time, but it still stalls after only loading a few songs on iPod. Tried dumping everything out of the ipod and start over, several times, no help. I've been 6 days, all day, every day, and half the nights getting a few songs at a time on this dam thing. I found when it stalls if I turn the iPod off to force it out of iTunes I can then restart iTunes, reconnect the iPod, manually select 15 to 20 songs and drag them to the iPod. A few times I got over a hundred to sync but usually 20 to 30 songs then it stalls. Then I have to do the whole thing over again. I had a little over 1200 songs out of the 1877 songs, 11.28gb, in my music library when the last time it stalled, it dumped everything. 4 or 5 days of manually syncing a few songs at a time, GONE. Just poof, all that work for nothing. The only thing left on it is 92 of the hundred something songs I've bought from iTunes. I'm ready to take a hammer to the dam thing and send it back to Walmart where I got it.
I'm using a Dell Studio 17 inch laptop that's about 4 yrs old running Windows 7 that I installed 2 years ago. I had a iPod nano 2gb that worked fine with this computer & iTunes untill it died last spring.
Why do you have it set up so that one little hickup and the dam thing dumps everything thats on it? I cant even stop it from starting to sync when I connect it because I need to see the settings in the summary for the iPod to change the settings, but I cant see that until I connect it, but as soon as I connect it, it try's to start the sync and stalls feezing everything.
Can anybody help me before this thing drives me completely over the edge!?
    The ColoradoHermit

I have a older Dell Optiplex desktop computer running Windows XP. I copied the iTunes  folder on my laptop to an external drive and plugged that into my desktop computer. Then connected the iPod Touch to the desktop. For some reason or other the computer thought the iPod was a camera and wanted to know which photo program to open with or for it. I never did get iTunes on my desktop computer to "see" the iPod and had to give up that idea.
When going into the My Computer or Windows Explorer - which is the one I like to use for working with my files-  when I connect the iPod to my computer in Windows Explorer it will show the iPod. Open that and it shows Internal Storage, open that and a folder with DCIM shows below it, open that and a folder with 860OKMZO on it shows below that, open that and it has the 40 or 50 photos I saved from Facebook. That's it, there isn't anything else shown in its storage. The iTunes on my old Desktop doesn't see the iPod Touch either.
Even if the iTunes on my old desktop would work with this iPod Touch it wouldn't do me any good. I read in a post that once it is connected to a iTunes Library, if its connected to any other iTunes Library on a different computer it will dump everything that's on it. Which is totally stupid but I think they - iTunes - have it that way so that you cant share your music with somebody elses computer. But that also makes it so I cant manually sync one thing at a time with my own iTunes Library. I tried syncing my music first and after I got some of it on the iPod, in its summary I deselected the music sync and selected the movies or video's so I could manually synce a few to it to see if it would work. Bad move. As soon as I did that it dumped everything that was on it, then said that it could not sync the movies because the files could not be written. HUH? Why a video from YouTube could not be written beats me. But why did it dump all the music?
The last thing I did with it was put all the options in the summary in iTunes back to default, removed everything on the iPod that was left after its last dump, then disconnected it, closed iTunes, and rebooted my laptop and started over from scratch. Started iTunes, connected the iPod, after iTunes found it I opened the iPod summary, made sure everything except sync photo's was selected, then started the sync function. It immediately listed all the songs and the songs info in light gray under music on the iPod. It only got 2 songs copied, then stalled. I just left it alone to see what it would do. I opened the Windows Task Manager to see what it was doing. Even though the iTunes program appered to be stalled it was using 50% of the CPU. After about 15 minutes it showed a popup window saying the song could not be writen then another saying its connection to the iPod had timed out, then iTunes stalled and "not responding" showed in task manager and at the top of the iTunes window. After 30 minutes I had to force it to close with the Task Manager. By then it was after midnight and had been another 12 hours wasted messing with this thing.
