In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it. Or turn on Windows 7 and 8 iTunes menus: iTunes- Turning on iTunes menus in Windows 8 and 7.

You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
1. Open iTunes on a computer
2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.

Please Help!!! Computer shut down now everything is gone!!!!!

My computer has been acting funny for a few weeks, and due to a faulty power cord has shut down on me with out properly logging off. Yesterday, it shut down for no reason, and when I went to restart it, everything was gone. Its as if my computer is new again. Nothing is in my dock. All of my pictures, music, documents, etc. are gone. Is there any way that I can retrieve them??? I am mainly worried about my pictures, as there are a lot of them that can't be replaced and no one else has. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!

In Hard Drive > Users: is there more than just your Home folder displayed?
Possibly one you are not familiar with?
Other than this issue, is the system functioning properly?
What size is the Hard Drive, and how much space is available?
Have you run Repair Disk?
THESE ARE THE STEPS FOR USING DISK UTILITY TO REPAIR YOUR HD
1.Insert the System Install disk, Mac OS X CD-ROM disk, or Restore DVD disk, then restart the computer while holding the C key. Use the System disk, of the OS, that is currently installed.
2.Once started up from CD or DVD, on the Menubar at the top of the screen, choose Disk Utility from the Installer contextual menu.
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from disc to access Disk Utility.
3.Click the First Aid tab.
4.Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5.Select your Mac OS X volume, if necessary.
6.Click Repair. If DU reports errors it has fixed, re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported.
7.Repeat steps 5 & 6, but select the Hard Drive this time. It's usually the first listed with the manufacturer's model number. Make note of the S.M.A.R.T. status.
8.When finished, select Quit Disk Utility from the Installer menu.
9.Select Quit Installer from the Installer menu.
10.In the resulting pop-up window, choose restart.
11.After the computer has restarted, you can eject the CD.

Please Help!! My computer crashed this aft. When I rebooted, I cannot find

my ITUNES library anywhere. 20,000 songs gone. The desktop logo is still there. A message comes up saying that the itunes folder cannot be found. And tells me to look in a default location called MY MUSIC. cant find that either. Please help. Jeff

I downloaded and ran the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool. It showed no files to remove, but still said it was successful. I then tried reinstalling the entire suite. Acrobat 8 Professional was the only program that installed. All other programs gave me a componant failed error. Any other advice would be greatly appreciated?!

You did not accidentally "back up" your phone. A backup is the process of making a copy of the data on a device for use in data recovery. What you did was "restore" to your phone a backup that had been previously made of someone else's device.
You need to force the phone into recovery mode (google is your friend) and restore it as a NEW device. Then either restore it from YOUR backup, or set it up as a new phone.

You could restarting your phone that sometimes fixes issues
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for phone to restart (no data will be lost).

Please help me diagnose my computer! I'm getting quite desperate...

Hello, I've had my macbook pro (snow leopard) for 2 years now. I rarely download anything on it, nor do I save files other then school documents and pictures. I had 230GB out of 256 GB still remaining.
Everything was going smoothly, when quite suddenly, my computer started beachballing. I noticed that this happened when I was watching a youtube video that was an hour long, but I kept it playing on repeat (it was a video of "white noise" to help me study). It beachballed a couple of times during this session, but at some point my computer was lagging hard so I exited. The problem is, from this point on, my computer still beachballs. Sometimes it will work smoothly, but it's only a matter of time until it lags again. This problem is NOT safari specific. Even if safari is completely closed, it will beachball. I can move my mouse, but I won't be able to click anything or even force quit an application due to the lag.
Other things to mention: Repairing disk permissions doesn't solve it, neither does resetting PRAM. Often times I have to force shut down because my computer may be completely unresponsive, and when this happens, the fan gos nuts. Sometimes when I turn my computer on, I'm stuck at the grey screen, and I have to force shut down again.
One other important thing I do want to mention is that I tried to reinstall mac osx with the original CD. I clicked Macintosh HD (the only partition), and clicked erase. I tried installing it 2 times. For both times it took around 5 hours, and in the end it said it couldn't install. So I redid it one last time by following these instructions: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3910. It still won't let me install!
Can someone help me please? Badly need to study for exams and I'm upset that my new [expensive] computer won't work!

We bought a Mac OS X about a month ago from Best Buy. By the time we bought Microsoft Word and one of those Mac books for Dummies, it cost us about $1,400 The service was good and all -- but the Mac really, really sucks. I would have returned it but it would have cost us about $300 (restocking fee, etc, etc.) We're going to buy another PC and give the Mac to our daughter who is a high school computer keyboard instructor.
What don't we like about the mythical Mac? Just a few: Everytime I want to view a Webpage or most everything else, I get a message saying that I must download Adobe flash player version this or that. I download it, but still get another message saying the Website is "missing a plug in." Phooey! I'm tired of this. Also, in about one our of five instances when I try to click back to a page I was previously viewing, I get a stupid drop down which asks "Are you sure you want to send this form again." Well, no. I don't want to send this form again, because it could result in ordering the same thing twice. So I click "cancel" and have to back and find the page all over again. Phffft!
My God! How we yearn for another PC!
We don't know what to buy. Our son set up our previous PC's to our liking, but he has moved away.
We don't need all the bells and whistles. We don't play video games or listen to music and stuff. All we want to do is:
1. Browse the Internet -- online shopping, newspapers, forums and stuff in general
2. Want a PC that comes with Windows 7 and Word already installed. (We had Windows Vista, but it sucked.)
3. Also want the Windows 7 Paint feature.
4. Download pictures from digital camera.
5. ... and an already-installed security feature, preferably McAffee (which is what most banks recommend, but I guess Norton or some others would be okay)
6. ... And I guess that's about all I can think of at this time.
We just want a simple computer. Probably an HP or another Dell or something.
I don't even like wireless. I like a plugged keyboard and mouse. But I guess it'll have to be wireless because of the router (my son set up) which lets us use the old laptop in the living room.
Sure would appreciate any help all you high-tech, young guys and gals might have. Thanks in advance.

1) Almost all of your complaints seem to be web browser related - maybe try Firefox or Chrome instead of Safari?
2) Form resubmission is an artifact of how a site works - highly unlikely a Windows machine with IE or Firefox would behave any different here. I bet you the site even had a warning telling you not to use the back button beyond a certain point in their ordering process (Most sites do in any situation where form resubmittals could cause a double-order.)
3) Wanting preinstalled Word is going to severely limit you in selection and cost. Are you sure you even need it? 95%+ of people will have their needs met by OpenOffice. (The only times I have seen compatibility issues were when using Word's significantly more advanced features like change tracking and macros. I use OO exclusively at home.)
4) Windows 7 is a given on any new PC
5) Can't comment on the Windows 7 Paint feature's availability. It sounds like a builtin to me - if not, there are plenty of free and likely more capable choices like GIMP (my photo editing program of choice) and Paint.NET
6) McAfee is a steaming turd, one of the worst antivirus packages out there. They're very good at marketing to large corporations (and that is about the only thing they remain good at now), unfortunate for those of us who work for large corporations and have to adjust our work schedule around our PCs being unusable for 30 minutes a day while McAfee runs a scan, or try to avoid going insane for the 4 hours it takes for McAfee to run a weekly scan during which the system fans run full tilt (100% CPU). Microsoft Security Essentials is free and very well regarded.
With the exception of wanting Word preinstalled, your described needs are very basic and any new machine on the market will meet them. Of course, if you have any niche requirements not stated here this could affect system choice.

If you can't get the seating right or the memory is damaged, you may want to have the install done by someone who's installed a fair amount of memory in iMacs. Either you can look into a local Apple Authorized Service Provider, or an Apple Consultant in your area.
Lastly you can always take your iMac in to an Apple Store, and the most they'd be able to help you with is getting your original memory back in to your computer.
You'll want to be careful because if you damage the memory slots, those are on the logic board and can be a very costly repair....

Please Help: Cant' get Windows computer to see network printer

I have my printer shared on our network directly into the airport. All of the Macs can use it no problem, but when we try to get a Windows computer to access it, we're having no luck.
I followed these direction I found on Macworld:
AirPort printer sharing isn’t restricted to Macs: Windows PCs can also use an Air-Port print server. To set this up, you’ll need the AirPort’s IP number. (By default, it’s at 10.0.1.1.) With the PC attached to the AirPort wireless network, open the Add Printer wizard in Printers and Faxes. Following the steps in the wizard, create a local printer, deselecting the Automatically Configure option. Next, click to create a new Standard TCP/IP Port, and enter your AirPort’s IP number in the IP number field. If the IP number is 10.0.1.1, the queue name should automatically fill in as IP_10.0.1.1. In the next screen, select Standard as the device type, and then specify Hewlett Packard Jet Direct. Finally, click on Finish, and then select your printer make and model from the list of available drivers.
but had no luck as well.
I'm trying to connect to an HP Lasterjet 2200.

I fixed the problem. I coudln't get the Windows machine to find it on the network unless it was actually plugged into the USB port of the Airport Extreme.

I am not extremely computer savvy, so bear with me as I try to explain this as best I can. I am using a 2007 iMac, running Lion (not Mountain Lion, just regular Lion). In May of 2012 I had the hard drive replaced at the Apple store. It was running great until a few weeks ago. It is now unbearably slow, especially on the Internet. Often times, if I'm typing something, there is a lag - a delay in the words showing up as I'm typing them. I constantly get the spinning ball if I even touch the mouse.
So, I brought it back to Apple where they did every diagnostic test available and told me that there was nothing wrong. They suggested that it could be something external that's connected by USB, so what I did was buy a new mouse, keyboard and a new USB cable for my printer. Still the same -- super slow and constantly seeing the spinning wheel.
Side note: when I check my HD to see how much available capacity I have, here's what I get:
Capacity: 499.25 GB
Available: 376.59 GB
So I'm assuming it's not a issue of capacity. Also, I make it a point to close any running apps and programs if I'm not using them, but still no good.
Please - any advice will be greatly appreciated. I'm getting so frustrated.

You can absolutely benefit from getting more RAM; you've only got 2 GB. You will need to check on your model identifier to see how much RAM your model will support - here are the mid 2007's at OWC (macsales.com); check their link on how to find your model identifier. If it is 7,1, then this is the right page:

Officially, Apple supports 4 GB RAM (2 x 2 GB kit), but OWC has tested it to work with 6 GB (1 x 2 GB and 1 x 4 GB), so that would be your decision.

Have you connected the iPad to that computer before ? If not then when you connect it your Mac may want to replace all content that you currently have on your iPad with what is in the Mac's iTunes library - this page may be of help to try and stop that happening : Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive
If that is the computer that you sync the iPad to then when you connect the iPad you can copy your iTunes downloads over to your computer's iTunes library via the File > Devices > Transfer Purchases menu option (your iTunes downloads aren't included in the actual backup, nor are the contents of the Music and Videos apps ; if you need to restore to a backup then they are picked up from your iTunes library - the actual backup contains things like documents, notes, camera roll photos, contacts, settings etc)
And below that on the menu is a Back Up option
Backups and restores : iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
About backups (page also lists what is included in it) : iTunes: About iOS backups
The backup itself is not of much use except for restoring back onto a device e.g. you can't extract files, photos etc from it.
