HT1208 This help article needs to be updated

There is no visible help menu with the iTunes redesign unless you choose "Show Menu Bar." The article needs to be updated.

Most of Apple's articles in regards to iTunes need to be updated for iTunes 11. Why they have not done so is beyond me. You can comment to Apple on the matter via their Support feedback page, if you wish:
https://ssl.apple.com/support/feedback/
For that matter, why the Menu bar is hidden by default in the Windows version of iTunes 11 is also beyond me. It's seems a rather dumb thing since it makes it unnecessarily confusing for users.
Regards.

  • Help urgently needed: Iphone 5 update error

I went into system settings to update my iphone 5 to the newer verzion of ios 7 and instead of starting the update when I clicked it, it went into recovery mode. I have so many valuble pictures on my phone I can't just restore it to factory defaults and lose all of them as well as videos. I have tried holding the on/off button and the home button for 15 seconds and it just keeps going back to the same screen. Please, please, please help. I also can't get help directly from apple this night since I cannot get into my phone to get the serial number. Please, any help is greatly appreciated.

I am in the same situation as the original poster.  I am trying to restore the device, but my iTunes says it is downloading the software update (although it shows when my phone is *not* plugged in that the download was completed). When the "download" is not yet complete, I get a message telling me there was a problem downloading the software for the phone because the network connection failed, even though there is no problem with my wifi.  I occasionally get the random message: "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode.  you must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes." I need to point out that the message is randomly received *as* I am downloading the software update to restore it.
This is the third attempt at restoring the phone, so any advice to make this work is appreciated.

  • HELP! Need to undo updates for a Goods Receipt - incorrect PO

    Hi there,
I'm fairly new to SAP Business One and made a mistake with my last Purchase Order/Goods receipt.
The parcel I had to book in arrived but the invoice had no PO number, so using the Query Manager I found out which Purchase Orders included the product codes. There were a few POs with the same products and I got confused which was which.
When adding the new Goods Receipt I 'copied from' the wrong Purchase Order and saved the updates so now it appears that we have received some of the products from this order, which aren't due for another two months. They are highlighted in grey on the Purchase Order. If I 'copy from' this PO to create the Goods Receipt the lines that I incorrectly updated are no longer visible because according to SAP we have received them so I can't deselect them or make them un-highlighted. Is there anyway to undo the changes so that SAP recognises that we haven't yet received these products?
Any help on rectifying the matter would be much appreciated!

    HI
If you have taken Backups before that wrong entry, then you can restore it which will put your database with the previous correct entries...
    OR
You have to reverse those GRPO's or Invoice by posting Returns and Credit memos which will make correction to your wrong stock...

  • TS1468 i cant see the album view tiles shown at the start of this help article

Trying to find out how to get compilations to appear as one album and not broken up into several in the display.
Only help on line appears very very old for version 7/8 nothing for version 11.
    "Help" does not help.
Old on line article says to mark as compilation but this option does not show in version 11. itunes.

Tried to work with the CTRL+I and sort fields.
Entered all the data, took over an hour. No joy still wont display some songs as albums.
Tried selecting all and ticking the sort fields. Deleted all the data I just entered.
    Ouch.
Already finding Apple product unfreindly and expensive best solution may be to go the a player that works instead.
Considerig alternative hardware, s/w used by other family memebers without this kind of frustration.

  • HT3275 This help article says Red "i" message: "Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while copying files to the backup volume."  Restart, then try the backup once again."  OK, I've done that a few times and still receive the same error message. No

My Time Machine backup is repeatedly failing -- instead I receive a message saying it's unable to complete backup because an error has occured.  The only "Help" advice is to restart the computer and try to back up again, but that did not solve the problem. Help, please?

Restart the whole network.. not just the computer.. restart in correct order with everything off.

  • The migrate Thunderbird help article has an error.

Thunderbird Path Why moving Thunderbird into a new computer might fail.
This is my computer's folder path to the Thunderbird email files:
    C:\Users\Stan\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\iq9rzk1o.default\Mail\pop.att.yahoo.com\Inbox
    In that Thunderbird email folder:
    Are these folders:
Crash Reports A long list of very tiny "Install Time" text files.
Profiles Folders and files holding all the Thunderbird user's email and preferences.
    And these files:
Registry.dat A very small file with perhaps some entries for installation in the Registry.
Profiles.ini A very small text file containing only this:
    [General]
    StartWithLastProfile=1
    [Profile0]
    Name=default
    IsRelative=1
    Path=Profiles/iq9rzk1o.default <--- Note this.
If that Path entry is not exactly the same as the path following the Thunderbird folder, then Thunderbird does not start.
Error message: "Your Thunderbird profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible."
So, when copying/moving Thunderbird from the old computer into the new computer, that Profiles.ini file must be included.
To do that copy/move the entire Thunderbird folder. NOT just the Profiles folder, as that Help article describes.
Thus this Help article needs correcting: Moving a Profile [ Because it fails. ]
    See: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-tb#w_moving-a-profile

    Hi, Team Mozella:
    Some more thoughts ..........
'''Move all the Thunderbird email (and its settings) into a new computer
That is the goal. This article seems promising:
'''Thunderbird: "Moving Thunderbird Data to a New Computer"'''
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/moving-thunderbird-data-to-a-new-computer#w_manually-moving-files
In that article, for "Manually Moving Files" the reader is right away referred to this article:
    '''Thunderbird: "Profiles TB"'''
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-tb
That article is really only concerned with creating and managing Profiles.
Which really isn't a good way for transferring all the Thunderbird email and settings. For only doing this: "Moving Thunderbird Data to a New Computer"
    Overly complicated. Perhaps the following?
. (Why not? It does work.)
    . '''=============== A Suggested Approach ============='''
'''Installing all Thunderbird email into another computer:'''
The following is performed using only Windows Explorer:
    In the Source computer
    - To backup the Thunderbird folder:
. 1. Install a USB flash drive to hold the Thunderbird folder backup.
. 2. In the Source computer, locate* this folder: Thunderbird
. 3. To copy that Thunderbird folder, select it. Then do: Ctrl C
. To locate it, select the folder holding it.
. 4. Paste that Thunderbird folder copy into the backup USB flash drive
. To do that, select that USB flash drive. Then do: Ctrl V
In the Destination computer (Assumes Thunderbird is installed.)
    - To restore the backup Thunderbird folder:
. 1. Install the USB flash drive holding the Thunderbird folder backup.
. 2. In the Destination computer, locate* this folder: Thunderbird
    . 3. Rename that folder: Thunderbird-1 ( Hiding it from Thunderbird. )
. 4. In the backup USB flash drive, copy the Thunderbird backup folder.
. 5. Paste that Thunderbird backup folder where the Thunderbird-1 folder is located.
'''Locating the Thunderbird folder path''' *
    - For easy reference you can place that folder path listing into WordPad:
. 1. At the top of the Thunderbird display, click on these:
    . Tools > Account Settings
. 2. In the Folder Pane column on the left, select the desired Account.
    . (An email address.)
. 3. In that Account Settings box click on this: Server Settings
. 4. Now at the bottom of the Account Settings display is a box: Local Directory
. 5. Click the mouse cursor in that box. Then press: Home
. 6. Then while pressing Shift and Ctrl, press: Home
. All the box's text is selected.
. 7. To copy that selection, press: Ctrl C
. 8. Open the Windows WordPad application.
. 9. To paste the selection into WordPad do: Ctrl V
    . ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    '''Example Thunderbird folder path listings:'''
Windows 7 ( The Thunderbird folder is in the Roaming folder.)
    C:\Users\Stan\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\iq9rzk1o.default\Mail\
Windows XP ( The Thunderbird folder is in the Application Data folder.)
    C:\Documents and Settings\Stan\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\fl9e9qwi.default\Mail\

Only Apple could hamstring and tie Mac OS to Windows. There isn't any other than whether you can download the drivers into Windows (you can) but Apple puts a block on the installer setup even if your mac does not support it.
Windows 7 needs at least Boot Camp 3.1 and 3.3 is what you should already have. And you are not getting security updates if you don't have at least 10.6.8 as was pointed out.  --- you arent using Software Update as you should. And you should backup and clone Mac (and Windows) as well.
You need Mountain Lion to use Boot Camp 5.x which supports Windows 7 & 8 and 64-bit.
I would upgrade to Lion if you can realizing that Rosetta and PowerPC are no longer supported though.

Is there a download of the Boot Camp 5 Support Software if I'm not using OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.3?
Yes, you can download the Boot Camp 5 Support Software here.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1638
How do I use the Boot Camp 5 Support Software I downloaded from the web page?
The download file is a .zip file. Double click it to uncompress it.
Double-click the Boot Camp disk image.
Copy the Boot Camp and "$WinPEDriver$" folders to the root level of a USB flash drive or hard drive that is formatted with the FAT file system (see question below for steps on how to format).
Install Windows, leaving the flash or hard drive attached to the USB port of your Mac.
Installation of the drivers can take a few minutes. Don't interrupt the installation process. A completion dialog box will appear when everything is installed. Click Finish when the dialog appears.
When your system restarts your Windows 8 installation is done.
Note: If the flash drive or hard drive was not attached when you installed Windows and was inserted after restarting into Windows 8, double-click the Boot Camp folder, then locate and double click the "setup.exe" file to start the installation of the Boot Camp 5 Support Software.
How do I format USB media to the FAT file system?
Use Disk Utility to format a disk to use with a Windows computer. Here's how:
Important: Formatting a disk erases all the files on it. Copy any files you want to save to another disk before formatting the disk.
    Open Disk Utility.
Select the disk you want to format for use with Windows computers.
Click Erase, and choose one of the following from the Format pop-up menu:
If the size of the disk is 32 GB or less, choose MS-DOS (FAT).
If the size of the disk is over 32 GB, choose ExFAT.
Type a name for the disk. The maximum length is 11 characters.
Click the Erase button and then click Erase again.
Which versions of Windows are supported with Boot Camp 5?
64-bit versions of Windows 8 and Windows 7 are supported using the Boot Camp 5 Support Software. If you need to use a 32-bit version, you need to use Boot Camp 4 Support Software, and you must use Windows 7. 32-bit versions of Windows 8 are not supported via Boot Camp. Try:
    - Powering off and then back on your router.
    - iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
    - Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
    Public DNS — Google Developers

    - For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
    - Try on another computer/network
    - Wait if it is an Apple problem

iTunes purchases cannot be transferred between accounts. If you no longer wish to use the old account at all, you should delete those apps and repurchase them with the new account.
On the other hand, you could also (and should have before creating a new account - contact iTunes support to deal with account security: https://getsupport.apple.com/Issues.action

  • My Trend Security prog says I need 12 Microsoft updates, do I need to do this?

When my Trend Micro Security program does it's weekly check on my computer it advises that I need 12 Microsoft updates.
When I try to do the update MS advises that I need to use Explorer, which I don't use. It then says I can go to the site and download what I need, though it seems that these updates are relevant explorer. I would rather not download then if I don't have to, though I want to ensure that my browsing and email are fully security protected. I also use ThunderBird for my email.

*The updates from the Microsoft/Windows update site are for your Windows OS and for IE.
*It is important that you keep your OS and IE updated.
*Since you are using Windows XP, IE8 is the latest version available for your system.

if yes then how can i save my data or get out of recovery mode.. Is there any safe mode or something like that on which i could access my data..
P.S. I have not taken any backup of my iPhone on itunes..
Please help me sort out this issue..

Recovery mode doesn't mean that all your data is already lost. You only lose your data if you restore it.
When you plug the phone is into iTunes hold down the home button. iTunes may then give you the option JUST to update the software first. This should not get rid of any data.
However, if iTunes is only giving you the option to RESTORE and update, then you will lose your data I'm afraid.
    Hope that helps!
