I dropped my phone just now and the screen is showing black. When someone calls it rings and flashes but nothing shows on screen. Double clicking my button will make the noise for voice command but still nothing shows. Back of the phone is cracked pretty good, is there a way to reset the phone so maybe the screen will start working again or is the phone just broken?

Yes, Reset, hold both home and power buttons for about 10 seconds until the iPhone begins to restart. If after this, the screen is still black, there is a possibility that the LCD Display connector simply came loose from the logic board connector, and just needs to be pressed back down into place.

Hi, I bought a Blackberry Pearl around 2 weeks ago. Today, for the first time, I dropped it from a height of 3 feet and the screen went white. I removed the battery because I could not turn it off with the button, when I tried to turn it back on, the screen would not respond. I get a black screen now, however, the cellphone still works, I still get calls. What do you recommend I do because where I am from, the people who can actually repair the blackberrys work for private companies and I purchased my phone online. First question, can the blackberry still be saved? Second question, is the repair process simple? Would a new screen do the deed? It may have been a simple fall, but depending on how / where the phone "hit" the floor could have caused damage. Remember that electronic devices are fickle and sensitive to minor "shocks", so your phone very well could have fallen on that "magic spot" that made it break.
As for getting it fixed, you don't mention where you are, but you may want to search for an online repair shop that you can send your phone to.

Try the remaining items of:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Make an appointment at the genius bar of your local Apple Store and get an out of warranty replacement.

It might have happened when I was accessing my camera bypassing the lock screen!
All I know is that the thing is now useless and it looks like I will have to wait for the battery to run down to see if powering it back up afterwards will solve the problem.

I have since discovered the "hold down home key and power button" together for a few seconds and this seems to have worked .... phew!

The screen repair was botched. Take iPhone back to place of screen repair, and have them get the home button working again.

I bought Cool Edit Pro v. 2 many yrs ago. loaded onto new PC and now it won't work

I loaded it using the original CD and license number. My old PC had Windows XP but my new PC has Windows 7. It worked for a while, but then up pops the "trial version" stuff saying I used up my 12 free hours. It wasn't a trial version, I bought it years ago and have been using it all along

Where did you reload it from? Do you still have the original CD and serial number? Maybe it isn't compatible with your new PC so we need a bit more info to see if it is compatible.

I have not had wifi since November when I upgraded to the newest IOS version. I called the Apple help line and they told me some things to do and I tried them all and they worked for a few hours and then wifi shut off again. I kept doing what they told me and it worked for a couple more days and then I could never turn it on again. My blue tooth doesn't work either. I had to actually increase my data usage with AT&T becuase of this. When I did that in December I went to the Apple store and was told that it is a hardware issue and since my phone is out of warranty I would have to pay for a new phone because they could not fix the issue. My upgrade isn't up until June 2014 so not only do I have to wait for the upgrade and I am not paying for a new phone but I have to pay $10 plus extra a month on my cell phone bill because I was going over on my Data!!! I have been beyond upset about this and Apple is not doing anything about this nor did they offer up some way to resolve the issue because obviously it is not just some rare incident if several people are having this issue. Who knows how many people out there have had this issue and have not said anything about it. Now there is a newer update that I can't do because it requires wifi in order to download.
June can not get here fast enough and I may not go back to Iphone after dealing with this for so long with no help from Apple.

Yes, connect to your computer with the latest version of iTunes installed and restore it. If it doesn't show up in iTunes when you connect it see: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1.

Did the iTunes update & now it won't work at all!

I downloaded the iTunes update 2 days ago, and now iTunes won't work because it needs 10.4.9+ & all I have is 10.4.8
I tried to download the 'Combo' 10.4.11 but it crashed my system (the 'Restart' hung with turning wheel for over 2 hours) & I had to reboot from disk at the cost of several hours.
I only use iTunes for listening to the radio worldwide, nothing else. I have no iPod, have no purchased music.
Is there any way to uninstall the update? iTunes was just fine for me before the update.
Or, is there any way to install the 10.4.11 from a friend's disks? - since it's just an 'Update' which is available online, it doesn't sound like it would be illegal, but I want to keep "Kosher". I am assuming that even though the downloaded update crashed my system, loading from disk should work.
Any help would be appreciated - I am not very computer literate, so the simpler the better!

Finally solved the problem by going back to an older version of iTunes, which I found on FileHippo.com - I chose version 7.0 since I had no idea what older version I used to have.
The uninstall was the hard part, but these instructions did the trick:

Even then, when I got the "iTunesSetup.exe", clicking on it got the message:"iTunes library cannot be read because it was created by a later version of iTunes". Apparently some fragment of the "update was hiding somewhere.
I finally solved this by right-clicking (option+click) on it.
So now I have iTunes back & have no need for the "Combo Update"
At this point, having had a week of frustration from that worse-than-useless "Update", I have no intention of messing with any more "Updates". This computer is, and will remain a 10.4.8 machine.

It says it cannot removed the older version of iTunes.
Doublechecking before proceeding ... what's the precise text of that message, please? (There's a couple of different ones I can think of that you might be getting.)
