HT1212 forgot the passcode to my iPhone
Hi I forgot the passcode to my iPhone and followed the instructions to go to my back up etc, but when I do it tells me to switch off the "find my iPhone" app on my iPhone. But I am locked out so I can't do that. How do I go around this?
Hello, if you have made a backup and would like to ERASE ALL OF YOUR DATA* on your iPhone so you could restore from a previous backup.
Please proceed to the following:
1. Turn off your iPhone.
2. Keep Holding* the Home Button while plugging in your phone to a cable that is connected to your computer.
3. Once the connect to iTunes logo appears on your iPhone, you may let go of the home button.
4. iTunes will ask you to restore your device, follow the instructions.

You can try and restore it from the computer to which you've previously synched. If this does not work, you'll have to force your phone into recovery mode and restore as a new device. All your data will be wiped.

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.

Forgot the Passcode for my Iphone 4
I have not been using the Iphone 4 I have for quite some time, now I have forgotten the passcode. I went online and checked solutions given on the Apple website.
I tried to restore with Itunes but I get the error "Please switch off Find My Iphone before restoring". Considering I cannot unlock the Iphone, that is no use.
Then, I tried icloud.com/find and I got the error "All devices offline". I think my Iphone is not connected to the Internet.(WiFi)
So I tried the restore mode (Switching it off, holding the home button, it went into recovery mode) and then tried to restore by Itunes.
Well Itunes tells me to update the software and then restore, so I said yes. It downloaded a 1 GB update for around 3 hrs (slow internet) and then suddenly there comes an error "Connection to the server timed out". Tried this thrice, each time I get the same result. Worse, my Iphone is disabled not for some time but it says Connect to Itunes.
Now what do I do?
Any help will be appreciated.
ThanksI did that (removed successfully, says no devices in your account now) but I still get the same error in iTunes. "Please turn off Find my iPhone in your device settings"

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

Georgeit is incomprehensible to me why, if you had important data on your phone, you never backed it up using any of the dozen or so means of backup and sync that Apple offers. We are 4 decades into the personal computer revolution, and I would have thought that there wasn't anyone left who did not understand that backups are an essential part of the responsibility of using a computing device.
