are you trying to unlock it to use on a different carrier, or (as it sounds) are you trying to do the slid to unlock and have put in the passcode wrong too many times. If this is the case the only option that you have is to restore the device.

Just need an active local SIM card that is compatible with your iPhone. Your local provider
may need to configure some settings under Cellular, but it should pick up signal. Just in
case, make sure that Settings>Cellular>Roaming>Voice & Data are
active.

Almost everyone here would suggest you do so on your own computer via iTunes, but you can also do using iCloud. -
Hi there, my daughter purchased a used iPhone 4S from a local newspaper who has had it in the lost and found for nearly a year, and no one ever claimed it. It is locked with Telus, my daughter is a Virgin Mobile customer. Telus told me they will only unlock it if she activates it with them, she cannot do that as she is in a contract with Virgin. Is there anything I can do to get around this problem?
Only the carrier to which the iPhone is locked can unlock it. In
this case, you must work with Telus. If they have a pay as you go
plan, activate the iPhone on Telus that way and then after
you meet whatever requirements Telus has, stop using Telus
and move the iPhone to Virgin. Or sell the iPhone to someone
who can use it on Telus.
Telus is the only one who can unlock that iPhone. -
HT4623 I'm trying to restore my phone but I forgot my backup pass word. Can it be recovered?
Is there a way to retrieve your password for a backup? I got a failure message while updating to iOS 7 and my phone has none of my info and apps on it and I need the password to use an older backup file to restore it.
If you are referring to the password used for an encrypted backup, and if you don't recall the password, then you can't restore the backup. There's no way around it.

Video out works fine on my 3GS phone but not on my iphone 4. What could be the issue?
I have a 3GS phone and Apple component video cable that I have connected to HDMI capable TV. Everything works fine on 3GS. I try to do the same with my iphone 4 (hoping for better HD picture), and nothing happens. I am using iOS 4.2. on the 3GS and 4.3 on the iphone 4. Not sure if there is a bug somewhere. On the iphone 3GS, i get a message that says something like video redirected to TV as soon as I connect the component video cable to the iphone. No such thing on the iphone 4.
Can someone help?All parties do have the IOS 7.1. I really don't know what's going on I was using it last week & and I noticed updates one being ft so I updated and now when I go onto ft it looks like its face-timing, but no sound, then it says lost connection. but works on I phone? I don't like using I phone to ft as screen too small.

I am trying to unlock my phone - this required me to download itunes onto a friend's PC in PNG. Now it won't restore the phone (which I have to do in order to unlock it) without downloading this 800Mb file, which will cost me approx AUD$200. Help.
Are there any other options out there?Nope. You need an .ipsw file to restore your phone & since your friend didn't have iTunes, obviously there is no current .ipsw file to use. You can go to an Apple store, use your own computer, find another computer, but you can't restore without a current signed .ipsw file.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. I would recommend restarting your iPhone, and if that doesn't help, resetting your iPhone to see if you can unlock it afterwards:

I am trying to restore my phone, but when i go to do it on iTunes, it Updates to 4.3.3 however everytime the 2 and a half hour update finishes, it FAILS. So the update fails, and the restore fails. Its happened 4 ties.
