HT1212 how do i change my "diabled" ipod touch to another computer?

I have an ipod touch that I couldn't remember the password, so after several attempts it is now disabled.  I can't plug it in to the computer that I started it up on because I don't have access to that computer anymore.  How do I start over this ipod to my new computer and itunes?

Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

For how to restore:
iTunes: Restoring iOS software
To restore from backup see:
iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

HOw do I unlock my daughters iPod touch with no computer? Please help me!

If she set up Find My iPod on it before this happened, follow the instructions listed under "If you don't have access to a computer" here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212.  Otherwise, you would have to use a computer to restore it by following one of the other two solutions listed at the bottom of the article.

    Hello Orlosky,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Not sure as to how that happened, because there is no limit to how many devices you can sync to one computer. To sync to the 2nd iPod, simply hook it up, go through the registration and setup process, and then sync away.
There are several ways of managing multiple iPods with one computer. I think your best option would be to check out this Apple support document. Hope it helps.

When I connect my ipod touch to my computer it is recognized as another family members ipod but has my photos.  How do I change name?

Another thing to remember is the phone is actually usable for 911 calls and maybe others. Not a real good idea. Especially for a child.
It would depend however on the age of the child.
    Good Luck

  • How to transfer ratings from the iPod touch to the computer?

Hi. I've rated a bunch of songs (star rating) on the iPod touch. How can I transfer these ratings onto the library that is on my computer?
    Thanks

I don't sync at all because I use multiple computers, so syncing is not convenient. I just hate how you can only stick to one computer and not switch to manual without losing all your songs.
I don't sync to any playlist or checked songs. Wouldn't it be easier to have your iPod sync to a playlist on your computer specifically for iPod only songs, instead of unchecking all the songs you don't want?

  • How do I get internet for iPod Touch 4G through Computer/Laptop?

Ok well i heard that its possible to connect an iPod Touch 4G to a Computer or laptop with Internet and then have internet on the iPod so is that possible?

If the desktop or laptop is running Windows 7 then the native hosted network functionality built-in to Windows 7 Ultimate/Enterprise/Pro/Home Premium that turns a wireless (WiFi) equiped machine into a wireless router maybe an option.
Look at using either Connectify or Virtual Router (both free) that provide a nice GUI to configre the function. Note this only supports WPA2 encryption (very very important) by design.
    http://www.connectify.me/
    http://virtualrouter.codeplex.com/
There is also mhotspot which does something similar.

IMHO though a wireless router is your best bet if its in your budget. That way all of your wireless devices can access the internet wirelessly and not dependent on any other computer on your network.

how can i sync an i pod touch to a second computer

You can only sync with one iTunes library. However, you can manage music and videos among different computers. See:
Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers
You can change syncing computers by:

  • What should I do before syncing my iPod Touch to another computer?

My old computer died a tragic death (dont ask) so I had to get a new one. I bought some new games and stuff on my new computer but when I try and Sync the newly boughten games from my computer to my Ipod it wont do it. The only way it will Sync them is if I delete all my current games (which I dont want to do since I have like $30 in games on my IPod).
I can see why they wouldnt want people to be able to transfer games from their Ipod to the computer, but why cant i transfer the new games to my IPod.
    Can anyone Help me?

Ipod touch will sync with ONE computer at a time. If you sync to another it will first erase the content from the ipod and replace with content from the new computer. This is the design of the ipod touch.
You should transfer everything from the old computer to the new one, then sync so you do not lose anything.
As your computer is dead, simply use the backup copy of all of your music/pics/docs/etc to load everything onto the new machine, then sync.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from the ipod:
    Without syncing - File>Transfer Purchases

  • Is there a way to transfer backups of an iPod Touch to another computer?

I'm transferring all my iTunes stuff to my new laptop. I already have the songs and apps transferred, but I want to also transfer my backup (passwords, app data, bookmarks, etc.). Where will this backup save to, and can I restore the backup when I restore my iPod on the new computer? Also, will things like in-app purchases still work after I restore? I don't want to lose all my DLC on various apps.
Also, I'm going to be updating from 3.something to 4.0 when I restore, if that makes a difference. I have an iPod Touch 2nd gen.
The older computer with my iPod backup is running Windows XP. My newer one is running Windows 7.

    Welcome to the discussions,
Make sure your new computer is authorized in iTunes. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your ipod, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
This will save data, pictures and settings to itunes. Passwords for Mail and Network have to be entered manually again, due to security reasons.
See what's included in this backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your ipod got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.
    Restoring: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

  • I cant use my ipod touch on another computer

can anyone help me on what to do, i cant connect my touch to another computer apart from the one i originally used to start it up.

You have the accessibility VoiceOver feature turned on.
Triple click the home button and try going to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn VoiceOver off. You may have to use three fingers to scroll the screen to get there. If problems see:
