By 'fails' what happens ? You've connected the iPad to your computer and are following the steps on the HT1212 page that you posted from ? You may need to put your iPad into recovery mode ('If you have never synced your device with iTunes, or you do not have access to a computer' section) so as to be able to reset the iPad, and to then be able to restore/resync your content to it

Turn your phone off and connect your cable to the computer, but not the device just yet. Start up iTunes. Now, hold down the home button on your phone and plug it in to the cable - don't let go of the button until iTunes tells you it's detected a phone in recovery mode. Now you can restore to factory settings.

The only option is to wipe the device clean and restore it to factory settings. Hope you have a backup.

Once you have setup the device as a new one, you can then sync it back with your iTunes account and all your music, apps, contacts and any other content sync'ed with iTunes will be loaded on the device. Any content that is stored only on the device and not sync'ed with iTunes, like app logins or data, will be lost during this process. Be forewarned that this is a long process and can take a couple of hours or more to complete. This can be painful, but it is necessarily so to prevent users from working around the security settings. After the restore is complete, you can setup a new Restrictions passcode. Make a note of the passcode to avoid this situation in future.

You can't write to it because it's formatted as NTFS which OS X will read but not write to. If you want to continue using the drive with both a PC and OS X you will need to download and install NTFS-3G so you can then write to it from your Mac. You can get NTFS-3G at:

If you want to use the drive exclusively with your Mac then move the data off it and reformat it in Disk Utility (Applications - Utilities - Disk Utilities) as Mac OS Extended (Journaled.)

Something went wrong with the update, this can and does happen with every version of iOS.
There is nothing wrong with the update.
Simply restore the device via iTunes on the computer.
If iTunes is stating it will take hours to update, that indicates an extremely slow Internet connection and is likely the reason the OTA update failed.

Yes - I connected my phone to my computer / Itunes and went into the apps section, but from there I have no idea how to manage the push notifications. TS2634 1st gen iPad has suddenly quit showing that it's charging. I found that if it's shut it down and plugged in for 12+ hours, it will charge, but when in use, the battery drains quickly. When connected to the Mac, it doesn't link with iTunes.

HT1212 how do you enable your ipod when its diabled and wont connect to itunes to fix it?

i recently tried to login to my ipod and it disabled me completely from it. The last time i tried to login in it showed a message "iPod is disabled connect to iTunes" so naturally i went to connect to itunes to fix this. Then ITunes showed a message that it cannot be connect to my ipod because their is a passcode and i have to login first on the ipod to get to the itunes.. im so confused and frustrated someone please help!!

Everything that you sync to the iPad is done through iTunes or from downloading from the cloud if they are iTunes purchases or through iTunes Match, if subscribed.
It is also not possible to transfer music or certain other files though Bluetooth between other iPhones or Android devices. You can transfer between iOS devices, pictures through devices that are Airdrop capable.
