If the damage was caused by the user, it also wouldn't be covered by any warranty, so your best bet is to try to sell it as is or get it fixed and then sell it or keep using it. Some resellers will accept trade ins - I know this company accepts trade ins, but it may just be Macs, not iDevices - you can check though:

How do you back up your phone when the screen is broken and the phone is locked?

Sorry. you don't. If you use the same computer you normally sync with, you would not be prompted for the passcode unless you set the passcode since the last time you synced it.

Some apps crash. If they do, try this, in order.
1. Double click your home button and put your finger on any app and hold for a second. Then delete that app. You're not deleting the app from your phone, so don't worry. Then try opening the app again.
2. If that doesn't work, hold your sleep+home buttons for 10 seconds and don't let go. Ignore the power off message. Then try again.
3. If that doesn't work, delete the app and re-download it. (This will work most of the time)
4. If that doesn't work, download the app on iTunes on your computer and sync it from there.
5. If that doesn't work, wait for an update by the developers.

I am having the same problem with my ipad air but mine is so severe that it's just rebooting non stop. I guess the battery will die eventually but it has rendered the device useless. Yesterday while downloading an app on my 3GS, my iPhone froze, and I switched it off to reboot. Following that, every few minutes, the screen will flicker and the phone will restart. What's wrong? And how should I fix it?

I recieved my iPhone 3GS around Christmas. It has been working great, until yesterday. I was downloading an app and suddenly my messaging froze. I couldn't view incoming messages, and every chat I clicked on displayed the same frozen dialogue with only the contact names different. (The app was supposedly reliable, I read over the reviews.) I rebooted my phone in hopes of fixing this, and everything seemed fine for a couple of minutes. Then the screen slightly flickered, and my phone restarted itself. Now, after turning on again, it continues to flicker and crash every few minutes, whether I'm using it or not. Can anyone tell me what could be wrong and how I can fix it?

Restore the Firmware with iTunes.
If still problem and you have Warranty or AppleCare Coverage take to Apple for resolution.
If no coverage, the next step would be battery replacement.

I dropped my 17" macbook pro and the screen is broken. Can I still use it with an external monitor? When I plugged it into a monitor I had used it with before, I'm not able to see anything on the macbook screen to control it. It came on but I just got the blue screen with nothing else after typing in my password. (Didn't see the password form just assumed it was there somewhere and it did go from space to blue screen but no desktop icons, files, dock strip at top or anything else, just blank blue screen) so I can't access the system preferences.

I'd like to promise you that everything will be fine if you just get the monitor going - but it's hard to know what the hardware damage might be. It might be the monitor, or the damage might be greater.
Your best solution would be visit your local Apple Store and let them know what your situation is. They have access to diagnostics you don't, and they might be able to the best way to save your data and keep you computing. It's still not covered, but they can tell you what your current options are.

So I opened the phone again to replace the adhesive home screen rubber and when I put my phone together again the screen would not work. I tried hooking up the older screen and it also does not work (so the problem isn't from the digitizer)
However the phone is detected by iTunes and when I call it from another phone it shows that it is beeping but the phone does not ring (no sound) and I am unable to answer calls.
I thought it may be a connection problem from the digitizer so I tried to connect it multiple times and at some point the lights came on the screen but no apple logo or anything and when I hooked the phone to the USB the phone was vibrating every 2 seconds.
What might have caused this problem? Is it perhaps the backlight filter? even though I did not touch that part.
P.S: Yes I tried to reset the phone and all the basic methods and nothing worked.

You replacing the screen is the problem.
You'll need to google ifixit to find your solution.

After updating to iOS 8.0.2 my iPhone is stuck in a loop of showing me the loading apple logo for about a minute, then the screen goes blue and the process starts over.

I can turn the iPhone off by holding down the power button and releasing when i see the blue screen. I have tried to restore the iPhone in iTunes by putting it into recovery mode, but after about 10-20 minutes of it restoring the iPhone suddenly looses connection with the computer and goes back into the loop process. How do I get my pictures from photo vault to show again? Recently restored my phone and the backup saved the app. The app says 200 pictures etc. in the folder but I cannot see them.

Also you could try this:
Following are Steps to Transfer Photos from iPhone to MAC:
1). Attach your iPhone to Mac
2). Open up Preview
3). Click File menu and from there select “Import from iPhone…”
4). Select the photos you would like to transfer and click import, Select “Import All” in case you want to have all the photos in computer.
5). For confirmation sake go to ~/Pictures/ folder, picture copied from iPhone should be there.
If you have a windows PC then follow below given procedure to Transfer Photos from iPhone to PC.
You can accomplish this just using Windows Explorer, but there are two different methods. And here you go with the first one.
1). Plug your iPhone into your computer without iTunes running.
2). Now pop-up will appear asking what you would like to do with iPhone.
3). Click on “View Content”
4). Locate your photos.
5). Copy the same and paste it at desired location on your computer.
Another method for Mac users is "Image Capture" which is already installed on your mac, I will look for other applications for mac users, hope this helps!
