Trying to unlock my sons ipod and he doesnt know what his password was. It has been disabled for monthes. Cant get it reset with itunes apple. And doesnt even ask for a passcode anyways. It just isnt doing anything.I have beentrying to unlock it for 2 hrs already

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

yes the first thing i did was plug my ipod touch in then downloaded the latest Itunes,then i had a ITunes card redeemed it and spent it on some items.
Then i reliased it hadn't catogrised the item it just came up on the ipod with the adapter pointing to itunes.So then i Disconected it and reconnected it and nothing happened.I dissconnected it again but the adapter pointing to itunes didn't disappear (it still hasn't) and i searched the internet to see what the problem was.

I have no clue what you mean by "all the different methods." Here are my suggestions.
First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

There seems to be a billing problem with the iTS. I've been trying to make purchases today (Dec 9th) too and it reports either the iTS can not process payments or it says my card was declined. I even changed the payment method to Paypal (which is never declined) and still no go.
I don't think it is "you" but a problem at Apple. Some popular new apps were released recently like Logic Pro and perhaps they're getting bombarded as they did when Lion was released.
Wait a few hours and then try again.

To remove a restrictions password you'll have to restore your phone as a new device without using your backup and start over. I don't quite understand your question. But you might try the first troubleshooting step of a reset of your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

Removing the SIM has no affect on the power of the phone. It is just the part that facilitates connecting to your carrier. Try holding the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo on the screen and then release the buttons. The phone should reboot. You may need to hold the buttons together for 15-30 seconds.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I am trying to work out whether to buy a 30 or 80 gig Ipod; I am going o/s to South America later this year and want to save photos on my Ipod. I am just wondering a few things:
1. is it possible to put photos straight from camera to ipod?
2. is it possible to put photos onto Ipod from computer that doesn't have itunes (ie. in internet cafe)?
3. once photos are on ipod only, can i put them onto my computer back home?
4. does the resolution/size of photos get changed
Is it worth doing this or should I just get the 30 gig and save my photos on cds? I am sooo confused!!!!

1. Yes. You need the camera connector and a compatible camera.
2. Yes. My advice if not using your computer is to enable disk use on your iPod via iTunes, then when you connect it in an internet cafe, you can delve around the various folder and access your pictures.
3. Yes assuming you don't delete them (if you are on a mac it will load them into iPhoto for you).
4. No.
It depends. If you are going away, have an ipod and a camera, then there unless you want to buy lots of sd cards or the like, then it's a great alternative.
