‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.

Dear Sir,
I have forgotten my password of itunes, i have taken backup of contacts but is unable to restore . pls help i have my important data in back up.
Waiting for reply
ThanksEncrypted backup?
Read here:

If the backup you're trying to restore from is encrypted, you will not be able to use that backup if you can't remember the encrypted backup passcode.
If on a Mac, & you elected to save the passcode to your Keychain, you can recover the passcode from your Keychain. Otherwise, your backup data is unrecoverable.
While you can continue to sync/backup, if you can't remember it & want to remove it, you'll have to delete your existing backups, & restore your phone as a new device.
You delete your existing backups here: iTunes>Preferences>Devices. -
I have forgotten my password to unlock my iPhone backup

Forgotten Restrictions Passcode Help
You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.

Hi there!
I've forgotten the restrictions passcode that I set up. I've failed on 5 attempts. What can I do to get rid of it and access safari again?! I've restored original settings (which happily updated my software), but then restored the last phone back up which I made & so, of course, still have restrictions set as on. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks. To remove the Restrictions passcode you will need to Restore the Device as New...
You will not be able to perform a backup as this would include the Restrictions passcode... which is what you have to remove...

You can't unless you have a backup on your computer or iCloud.. If you have important files on your iPad, you should always make frequent backups.

I tried to restore backup from itune to my new iphone 5s but have forgotten the password what should I do?

Which password?
If you mean the passcode to your iPhone, here's the solution:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212
If you mean the encryption password to your backup on your computer:
Warning: Make sure it's a password you will remember or write it down for safekeeping. If you encrypt an iPhone backup in iTunes and forget your password, you can't restore from backup and your data will be unrecoverable.
If you can't remember the password and want to start again, you must perform a full software restore and chooseset up as a new device when iTunes prompts you to select the backup from which to restore. -
I have forgotten the password to my iPod 4th gen. I have gone through the process of trying and trying to enter it until i get to the "connect to iTunes" screen. I do this and i follow specific directions until i get to the "Restore iPod" option. This also tells me that by restoring my iPod i will erase all media and data. I really don't want to do that... Can someone help me to figure out if i can "enable"/get back onto my iPod without erasing everything?!?!?!
P.S. - I am especially worried about losing my photosUnfortunately, the only way to get past a forgotten passcode, it to restore it in iTunes on your computer. There is no way to retrieve a forgotten pass lock code. Restoring it, does erase the data on it, however if you ever synced this data over to the computer, then you can always sync it back.
You will need to Restore your device from the same computer that you most recently synced to. See - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414. -
I have forgotten my password post backing up phone and cannot restore data as desired.
Hi
I have forgotten the password I set up when backing up my phone on my laptop. What-is there anything I can do?
Many thanks
AngelaTry hard to remember your security password. There is no backdoor, reminder, reset or anything for security password.
ALSO >> You have your mobile phone number listed as your "My Mobile Provider" or carrier. Putting your phone number out on the internet on these public forums for the world to see, is not wise. To change that, at the top of this page click on My Settings > Personal Profile > Personal Information, and in the entry block for "Carrier" type the name of your mobile provider.

I have forgotten my security code
I have forgotten my security code (4 digit pin number) for my i touch.... how do i reset it?
If you have a passcode to the screen lock that you've forgotten, restore the iPod from the computer to which the iPod is synced. For information and instructions, see:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
If that will not work, you'll need to put the iPod into Recovery Mode and then try the Restore again:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
