HT1212 iPod disabled, computer gone, home button broken

iPod touch 4th gen was disabled a long time ago because I forgot the password and kept trying to guess it. It now says "iPod is disabled- connect to iTunes". Well, the computer that it was origanally synced to has been donated. It was not connected to Find My iPhone or iCloud. Also, the home button doesn't work so I was using Assistive Touch. The help FAQ that popped up said to do this:
Alternatively, place the device in recovery mode and restore it to erase the device:
Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.
Well, my home button is broken.... Can it be fixed?

Place the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs and then restore via iTunes:

Apple might be able to restore it, but most likely not. You can pay apple $150 to replace it, but make shure to not mention that you found it.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Yes, if you get it fixes, the iPod will likely be erased. Apple will not repair your old iPod, they exchange it for a refurbished one and do not transfer data.

  • IPod Touch 5th Generation home button is stuck, support options?

Hi, I do IT, and when talking to someone in my science class and somehow he brought up the fact that his iPod touch 5th generations home button had become stuck overnight, without cause, it is in a otter box, and has never been dropped, come in contact with water, etc... . I had the exact same problem and luckily when I contacted apple it was the last day of my year long coverage. I checked his serial number and his support has expired, so what are my options? From my research it seems like this issue is not uncommon, and I have read that Apple will replace the defunct unit regardless of the warranty if you bring it to a genius bar, is this true? If it is not, then what would be the price for Apple to repair it, as it is in perfect condition with no scratches, and I would not want to void any future warranty options by replacing the button/screen myself?

Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store and find out if Apple will be nice and exchange it for a refurbished iPOd at no cost. Apple dies not repair yur iPOd, they exchange it for a refurbished one. If Apple will not exchange it at no cost, the exchange price is $99 for 16 GB 5G and $149 for the other 5Gs

  • Ipod has been disabled but the home button is broken is there another way of rebooting?

My kids  iPod Touch has been disabled, have tried to do a recovery as the code as been forgotten, but the home button is broken is there other options?

I know of no such way. RecBoot will place an iPod in recvery mode without using the butttons but I know of no similar program for DFU mode.

  • IPod disabled and home button broken

I have an iPod touch (4th generation) which I forgot the password of. I kept trying it and finally after like 4 "iPod disabled for 60 minute" screens it says "iPod disabled please connect to iTunes" Which doesn't work because it says enter in a password. I've read online putting your iPod touch into DFU mode and connecting to iTunes and it will detect it and you will be able to restore. Which doesn't work because my iPod touch doesn't have a functioning home button. I've tried some apps that force your iPod into DFU mode such as Recboot and Redsn0w. Which don't work. Recboot just errors me and Redsn0w says it only supports A5 devices and higher (My 4th gen iPod has A4 processor) Please help and thanks a lot to whoever answers.
TL ; DR : HOW DO I RESTORE MY IPOD TOUCH WITH A BROKEN HOME BUTTON WITHOUT USING ITUNES, FIND MY IPHONE, REDSN0W, OR RECBOOT?!???

    Sorry that I forgot it

  • TS1441 How can I restore an iPod touch if the home button is broken and I don't know the password?

I just bought my iPod Touch (4th Generation 8GB) from my friend and the home button doesn't work. Then, my parents took it away for about 6 months and I just got it back and I forgot my password. Then, I tried to get in too many times and now it says "iPod Disabled Connect to iTunes". Then, when I connect it to iTunes, it says for my to put in my password so it can connect. I've been trying to get back in but haven't found a way to restore it. HELP!!!!!
P.S. It's jailbroken, but the damage isn't due to Cydia. Also, I can't put it into DFU mode since the home button is broken.

Actually, I can give it to someone who fixes jailbroken iPod touch home buttons, but I don't want to pay anything. Also, if you just have something to say to me that will kill me, don't say it at all dude.

  • IPod Touch 5 won't turn on and home button broken

    Hello,
So my iPod Touch 5 has been having accumulating issues lately. I've only experienced this issue once before about a year ago. My iPod Touch goes into a state where it can't be turned on by the power button. I've looked up solutions online several times. While the next best thing for me to do is to hold the power button along with the home button in order to restart it, my home button has been jammed for about a year now. I've been using assistive touch for a long time. The iPod does not respond to being charged nor being plugged into my computer. I've had to wait until the battery completely ran out before I could start charging and using it again. This issue has been occurring more and more often, and it's really hindering my ability to keep up with emails, games, and many school-related projects.
I've had this iPod Touch 5 for about 1.5 years now. The home button being jammed was an issue that occurred during the original 12-month warranty that came with buying the product back in the summer of 2013. I thought it was alright to just go with assistive touch for a while, but the jammed button became an issue that just became worse and worse until the button cannot even be pressed anymore. By this time, the 12-month warranty period was over. (This is the 2nd Apple product I've had power/sleep button issues with.)
I live in Chicago, and the cold weather is starting to set in. However, it was still over ~25 degrees F when this happened. I feel that this issue is not so much weather related because it has happened to me twice during comfortable summer weather.
I have a feeling that I may have to go in to the Apple Store in order to get help with this, but the potential repair or replacement fee is probably going to be terribly high. Any ways I can prepare for this visit before going in? Is there anything else I can do at home to get my iPod to live its life again?

My home button broke too after 13 months. The iPod's been lagging and slowing down a lot but for a $300 device, it shouldn't be breaking after a year. Just today it was working ok but then all of a sudden it's not turning on, its not responding to the power button, being charged, or being plugged into the computer, don't know what to do either

  • My iPod Touch 5th Generation home button is broken?

My ipod's home button just suddenly stopped working one day. I haven't dropped it or got any liquid on it, and so I HAVE NO IDEA why it just suddenly stopped working and honestly it makes me kind of mad. My one-year warranty on it was over a couple of months ago. I am wondering if there is any way to fix it for free or anything? or like how much does it cost?
