HT1212 iPod Touch disabled due to passcode

I tried sync-ing the ipod to itunes. We had to download itunes first, since we've never used it. I am told that we just sync the ipod to the computer and it will automatically do a system restore. Itunes cannot get into the ipod because of the passcode. It was never sync'd before, so it doesn't know it. Now what do we do?

Restore, if iTunes will let you.  Everything except the password will be restored.  Connect via cable to a computer with iTunes.  Be forewarned that it takes a long time.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • HT1212 ipod touch disabled due to too many incorrect password attempts - problem is I know the password

My daughter's ipod touch is locked due to too many incorrect password attempts (thanks to her little brother).  It is displaying the red bar that states ipod is disabled connect to itunes.  Problem is we don't have the computer that the ipod was originally synced with and she doesn't want to reset the ipod.  In this instance we know the password.. so is there anyway to get the ipod to ask us one more time to enter the password?  I'm not sure how many incorrect attempts were made, but it doesn't state anything about try again in so many minutes.. help, please!

  • HT1212 iPod touch disabled but I HAVE the passcode...

Is there any way I can restore it with out erasing all the data?
my son lucked out of his iPod touch (4th)... but I have his passcode... the problem is that I haven't synced it with iTunes in ages... (bad mommy...) and all of his games progress are going to be lost if I erase and restore it as instructed.... (not talking about the actual Apps that he'll loose but the progress of the game, data etc...) is there any other way to do it?
    thank you!!!!!

You may be able to backup. Otherwise you will have to restore using the last backup you have. Some games maintain status on servers and for those games status will not be lost

  • HT1212 iPod touch disabled help!

It says here that you can configure a device to erase itself.  It's off by default but you can turn it on by tapping settings>pass code lock.  How do you do this when the iPod is disabled and won 't let you do anything?  My son entered a new password and doesn't remember it.  His iPod is disabled and he never synced with our computer.  I've followed the steps to restore it and it just keeps telling me you must enter the password.  Can 't I just restore it with my apple account and password?  If I go into manage my iTunes account and click devices it appears.  What can I do?

"  How do you do this when the iPod is disabled and won 't let you do anything? "
    You don't
    Restore the ipod.
IF this fails then put it into revovery mode as the article you linked describes

  • HT1414 how do you reset my ipod touch..daughter try passcode too many times now its disabled

how do you reset my ipod touch..daughter try passcode too many times now its disabled

    Passcode Locked or Disabled
If nothing else will let you unlock the device - after so many unsuccessful attempts will be locked out - You have to restore the device within iTunes. You want to use the same computer that you always sync with so that you can restore your app data and settings. You can restore with any other computer, but you will lose everything on the Device.
    Instructions can be found here.

Thgen the iPod needs a wifi connection to the internet and yo need another iPod, iPhone or iPad with the FindMyiPhone app. you can also yse any computer too
    Only if:
If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone and use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
You can also wipe the iOS device by installing the FindMyiPhone app on another iOS device and using that app to wipe the device.
Via USB with any computer with iTunes and an internet connection
