Facebook has blocked my account and sends me to the Apple updates page. According to Apple, I have all the current updates. Do I have malware on my macbook? What do I do?

Secure Empty Trash didn't do any more than a regular one would have except take more time. That only needs to be used when you get rid of the hard drive (or computer) and are concerned that somebody will go to the trouble of trying to recover that information from the hard drive, which is a laborious process that probably only a forensic law enforcement person would have time to do. A regular empty trash will completely disable any malware you may run across.
Also it sounds like you deleted the entire quarantine folder, which is also not necessary. Just drag the folder contents to your Trash Can and empty it next time.

yep, unfortunately can't reset without the passcode either.
With regards to doing a restore, do you mean:
open itunes on my computer
click on my device on the left
go to the device summary
click restore
it then asks if i want to back up before i restore (to which i say no)
then it asks me if i'm sure I want to restore to factory settings and that all of me media and data will be erased and replaced with the newest version ( to which I say yes)
then it takes about 90 mins to do this but when I look at my phone, everything is exactly the same.
Am I missing something? Obviously I'm technologically challenged, but I HAVE to get to the bottom of this!

My HP photosmart premium with wireless ePrint, will not print files from mobile phone says it **may have** a virus- and deletes the file?!? My Fiance has the same phone, and I used it. It completed the file??? If I text message and E-mail address, my cell phone will come up as and E-mail address... has anyone else had this issue? Is it because I texted the the file? It didn't seem to be and issue on any of the other mobile phones used.... I am out of answers.... I tried to E-mail as well...

I have nearly the same problem, the printer discards my print job even when i have entered my email address as authorised senders.
Details from my other post:
I sent 2 emails to the printer:
- one is a 3 lines of text and numbers in a GIF file sent as an attachment
- another is a jpg circuit diagram paste in a word doc sent as an attachment
both are classified as spam and refused to print. i have no email coming back saying it failed (even i have checked "Email Job Status" in ePrint Settings.
So what will this HP printer print?
How can I switch this useless spam filter off?

Are you using Adobe Photoshop Elements?
If so, just let us know, and someone can Move your post to that very active and helpful forum.
As Chris points out, Adobe Photoshop does not have direct Internet uploading, so I suspect that you have PsElements.
Just let us know the exact program, that you have.

Were the movies deleted from your iPad before the movies were transferred from your iPad to your iTunes library on your computer?

You can't play music from the computer if there is none there. If you are using iTunes Match you should now be able to download and play all your music on the Apple TV from the music feature on the main page.

I keep getting a message that says I may have a pop up blocker on when I have turned it off.

I am taking an online class and on some slides I have to place the cursor over an area to reveal additional information. when I do this it goes well. On other occasions I must click on a portion to the slide to open additional information. There is a note at the top of the new information that reads click to return to the program. When I do this I am sent to a screen that reads I may have a pop up blocker and alloys me the chanch to click on FireFox to turn off the bolcker. I turned off the blocker and still get the screen.

Please provide a screenshot of that message about turning off a pop-up blocker.

Using Firefox 13.0 and 13.01
Have a vague recollection of doing an update of Flash or Java
but am not certain.
I've been reading a lot of info around this problem
- none of it describes the exact problem I am having.
1. Suddenly I am unable to get Google -
I click Google in the search bar (upper right in firefox window)
or type it into the address bar and it just hangs.
May connect after a very, very long time.
Also... many websites will not stop loading unless I click the X in the address bar.
Yahoo (which I had never used until now) comes up quickly. No problems.
2. I did the security update.
The next time I used Google, it opened quickly.
Did searches. Back to normal.
Or so I thought.
3. Within a couple of hours, was back to previous behaviour -
even if I get to the Google home page, it will not do a search.
4. Repeated all of the above with Safari. Same story.
5. Have checked with Activity monitor with Thomas Reed's malware list -
and can not see anything that seems to co-relate.
Does anyone have a clue about what is going on here?

I may have found a fix.
I say 'may have' because this problem has spontaneously fixed itself, then promptly unfixed itself.
So far I can get Google Search in both Firefox and Safari now, even though I only worked on Firefox.
Went to:
FireFox Preferences -
Clicked Security -
Warn me when sites try to install add-ons is checked -
Clicked Exceptions -
Added Google.ca.
As of this moment, Google Search is working.

Your Win7 computer is either missing or has a corrupted dnssd.dll file. It may also have a potential Registry error.

If you're using Mac OS X, then you do NOT have a virus (I"ll even bet money on this).
There may be an exception here if you're running on Bootcamp or using a VM.

I am running OS X 10.8.5 on a MacBook 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and 2 GB 1067 MHz DDR3. I've used this laptop since 2011 and it's treated me well. However, on Monday (20 October 2014) out of nowhere, I started getting a lot of ads popping up in Safari Version 6.2 (8537.85.10.17.1) - almost every other click in Safari brings up an ad. I've had "Block pop-up windows" ticked since the day I got this thing. If it makes a difference, ads are popping up in new tabs, not in new windows. I have no antivirus because when I bought the laptop I was told I didn't need it - much to my surprise… The sales rep was adamant that it wasn't necessary, so I trusted him, and I've never had a problem in three years until now, and I don't know why it suddenly became a problem.
Ads are for "Mackeeper", "TuneUpMyMac", "My PC BackUp" and many other non-related ads.
I'm looking for a trusted alternative to remove my current malware (because I don't trust the ones above that pop-up!), and protect me in the future. If it's free that's even better.
