Do you mean download the iOS update?
If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.0.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

  • Dear all,     Since  Friday morning the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth of my iPhone 4S have not been wirking any more. They appear as "unactive". I restored the system, updated it to 7.0.4., but nothing changed. Can anyone please help me?

    Dear all,
Since  wednesday  morning the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth of my iPhone 4S have not been wirking any more. They appear as "unactive". I restored the system, updated it to 7.0.4., but nothing changed. Can anyone please help me?

Last night I wiped the phone and did a complete restore.  Lo and behold the wifi was working again after the restore finished.  GREAT.  30 minutes later went to look at the phone and no wifi again, great!
So if my wifi chip coincidentally fried itself during the update, I supposed it coincidentally unfried itself during the restore, only to fry itself again later.  Clever chips these.

  • I cannot turn off the system update notification for my G2? I have already tried turning it off in Settings (under Applications Manager). What else can I try? Thanks

    Dear All,
I have tried turning off the system update notifications for my G2 and have not been successful so far. I have already tried turning it off via Settings/Application Manager/All. What else can I try here? Thanks.

Unfortunately that is not possible any longer. My advice is to take the update.  You'll have to at some point or either you'll accidentally accept it.  The HD voice and video works well between compatible phones. And, if you run into a problem, better now than later.

  • HT1263 where can I find the System Mac 9 that would be in the (original release) factory shipped iMac's prior to 2010? I'm missing key system data and cannot update to iPhoto app past 6.0.6; any advice will be helpful, thank you.

What are you refering to here? Mac OS 9 came out around 2001 ( or about ).  Mac OS 9 last run  in an emulation mode in 10.4.11 -- Tiger.  Mac OS 9 ran on PPC machines that were last produced before 2004 or so.
I think your conclusion you need Mac OS 9 is incorrect.

iPhoto '11, Mac OS X (10.6.8), need to upgrade system to 10.8
We need to verify some information.  Are you really running 10.6.8?  What hardware?
Here is how to find out what version of Mac OS you are running:
Click on the blue apple in the upper left hand of the screen.
    click on this icon
Click on the first line, "About This Mac"
Most of these are numbers & that's what we want.
What version & Processor do you have?

  • Can't export after system update

Hi, i just did the system update thing in the software update,
    and now i can't export...
im on a dual 2ghz powerpc G5 and im running final cut pro 5.1.4
haven't had any problems untill now,
just did the update and now if i try to export i get "codec error" or " general error"
if i try to use compressor it doesn't even start compressing, just says it's finished and then i can't play the movie,
When i tryed to do export quicktime movie final cut crashes...
any ideas on how to fix this ??

Here's the thing. All sorts of things go get funky when you change OS or applications. Although it doesn't help you at the moment, here's the best way to work. When you have a stable OS/Application combo, clone your startup drive. You can use an application like CarbonCopy Cloner (available at versiontracker.com). If you clone to a second internal drive, you can be back at work in a matter of moments.
You need to add your hardware specs to your profile to help us help you. Are you using any kind of capture card in your make like an aja io? You might need to update your drivers.
As far as your current state, here are a few things to try:
Repair permissions (recommended before and after any software or OS update or install).
Have you actually shut down after the update? A shutdown (leave the computer off for 15 minutes - that means unplugged) and restart will sometimes fix things.
Do a reinstall of quicktime. Do a search here for the techniques.
But, I'm wondering if you might have another problem that was not caused by the update. These things do happen.
You may have a problematic clip or render that finally made your sequence unusable. Do you have any graphic files in your sequence? Are they CMYK? If so, delete them. FCP doesn't play nice with CMYK graphics.
What format are you working in? Try the following: Capture some new material, edit into a timeline with matching settings and then try an export. Any luck? If so, take a look at your problem sequence. Mark an in at the beginning and an out at the halfway point. Do an export. Does it work? If so, Try exporting the second half.
You might also try copying the contents of your sequence into a new sequence.
Just thought of something else you might try that has worked for me with a problem sequence. Select the sequence in the browser or make the timeline active. Hit command-zero (sequence settings). Change the codec to animation. Hit OK. Among other things, this will cause your sequence to become unrendered. It also can sometimes slap fcp on the side of the head and fix a problematic sequence. Now, Do the same thing again and change the codec back to it's original setting.
I know there's a bunch of stuff here and I've been rambling on, but it's not easy to diagnose these things from a distance.
    Good luck

You could switch to airplane mode or shut off if in the middle of the download.
But you don't want to interrupt the install.

  • How can I disable the system feature which automatically restarts applications i had open during a previous session ?

How can I disable the system feature which automatically restarts applications i had open during a previous session ?

When you log out, uncheck the box to reopen applications. If you're still using 10.7.3, then you will have to uncheck the back with each shutdown or restart.
10.7.4 update was suppose to fix it that when you uncheck the box, it should remain unchecked for restarts after that.

I continue to get an error 37 message when trying to restore my iphone 3GS which crashed after trying to upload the last update. Does anyone else have this problem?

Did you manage to fix the issue?
I have exactly the same issue as described above : I installed the update 5.1.1 on my iphone 3GS and since then, I can not turn it on anymore. In Itunes, I get an error 37 when I am doing a restauration and it stops.
This error has nothing to do with firewall : I tried to restore the phone on several computers, including in an Apple reseller and it did not work anywhere.
I spent several hours on phone with the hotline from Apple which arrived to the conclusion that it is a hardware issue, but the phone was working perfectly fine until I installed this update!

I can't download the current update, message says I am not connected to the internet although I am.

Assuming that you're not in a country that restricts or censors internet access, or connected to a LAN that does so (i.e. some dormatory and office systems):
    1. Reset the phone (no data loss): Press both the home and power buttons for at least 10 seconds, releasing when the Apple logo appears.
    2. Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
    3. Disable WiFi and update using cell data network.

  • HT2404 How can I stop the Software Update madness??

I recently bought an Epson printer to replace my broken HP printer.  I uninstalled all the HP-related software, but I still am getting prodded by Software Update to update software I no longer have!  How can I stop the Software Update madness??

There are literally thousands of sites with videos (linked to from yet thousands more) that will prompt you to "upgrade" or update your already updated Flash Player. This is the most common method of delivery for malware like that.
A friend who runs a PC Repair business told me that if you've updated your Flash Player and you see a warning in a web page that you need to download an update to watch a video, it's an attack site.
A simple gesture of holding your mouse over the warning or link, will indicate the address it points to. If it DOESN'T say Adobe anywhere in the beginning of the address (download.adobe.com, or adobe.com/downloads), it's a forgery, and you should leave that page immedaitely. If you download and install whatever they link you to, it may play the content you were looking for, but you've just been infected with something that may lay dormant for months and then suddenly take over your whole system.
If you use your PC for work, you're really in trouble.
