HT1222 If my iPhone has been unlocked does it undo it when I update ?

I would like to know because it would be a real hassle to be redone and repaid

So if it were unlocked somewhere else I would erase if I were to update to i0s 7

  • Congratulations your iPhone has been unlocked!

I decided to update my AT&T iPhone 4S 32GB last night to iOS 6.1.1.  I was going to do a normal update and restore process, backed up my phone, ran the update and half way through it glitched and I had to do a factory restore.  I figured I could do a manual restore from the backup I had just done so I wasn't too worried about it.
When the update / restore finished I got a screen that I haven't seen before, it Said, Congratulations your iPhone has been unlocked!  To set up and sync this iPhone, click continue.  The lock screen on my phone was in fact the factory fresh unlock screen so I set it up and then did a restore from the backup I had just done.  Everything was restored except for my music, what a pain that is.
My question is, did my phone actually get unlocked?  And is there a way to tell other than putting in another carrier's sim card?  I bought the phone on contract and I still have about 6 months to go before the contract expires.

    Hello,
First of all, nice to meet you here. Im sorry im just new, so must be iTunes or updating software glitches so this is all impossible. All carriers would not let phone to be unlocked when they are approaching end contract date. So try to contact AT&T and just ask them and describe what problem you have like you mention above and not hurt to ask them. Try that!

  • Where on itunes does it tell me my iphone has been unlocked

I have been given an ipone 3 and O2 have unlocked it for me. I have connected the phone up to itunes and synced it with a new sim card in it but where does it tell me that my phone is now unlocked??? Don´t want to update the phone in case itunes hasn´t recognised the unlock code.

Your iPhone unlatching request for IMEI 01216000502**** has been
completed. To use a non-O2 Sim, place the Sim into the iPhone and
connect to iTunes using a USB cable.  iTunes will confirm that the
    iPhone has been successfully unlocked.
I don´t know where the confirmation is.

  • My iPhone has been stolen, i have rang my provider and gotten it blocked, can somebody still access my photos if they manage to get it unlocked?

My iPhone has been stolen :-(, iv rang my provider and they have blocked it. What I'm wondering is, if the thief will be able to get it unlocked anywhere? if they can will they be able to see my photos? Or does disabling the phone wipe it? I have pics of my babies on there and I hate the thought that somebody could be looking through them right now :-( thank you In advance :-)

  • I have an iphone 5 that was originally with verizon but has been unlocked now by them and the phone is still under the apple warranty, if I go to replace for power button malfunctioning, will they give replace it with an unlocked phone as well?

I currently have an iphone 5 that was verizon locked but has been unlocked by them because of my contract, the phone is still under the apple warranty but the power button is not working, if it was the case that apple has to replace it with another phone, will they replace with an unlocked phone now?
    thanks

The SIM Lock is stored on the Apple Activation Server - if it has been correctly unlocked by a network then this would have been done on the Activation Server.
When you get your replacement handset through Apple they mirror the activation server details of your existing handset and the current SIM LOCK status is mirror'd onto the new device.
(100% Accurate - done mine 2 weeks before christmas due to original 5 sleep button stopped working)

  • How can you tell your iPhone 5s has been unlocked?

Is there anyway to tell from the Settings menu on the iPhone or from a menu in iTunes that the phone has been unlocked. My wireless carrier has allowed me to unlock my phone because I will be spending an extended period of time in another country. Leaving in a few weeks. They have sent some kind of notification and bit of software to the Apple server. According to the instructions, this unlock instruction will be loaded on my phone next time I sync on iTunes.  But I won't be able to tell if the unlocking has been successful until I arrive in this other country and put another SIM card in the phone. So my question: is there a menu on the iPhone or in iTunes that provides any indication that the phone has been successfully unlocked?

This is how the process works ,needs following to the letter

and no there is no indication in settings since locking is a Carrier issue

i got in Manhattan from AT&T-
This error came after I updated the software since Apple confirmed and I have spoken with them and they confirmed it is officially iunlocked since I have full filled their terms of the agreement.
This phone was working earlier since i had jail broken it.
I have been using it with jail break for about 2 years now

Yes, this would seem the most likely reason to me.

  • My friend just gave met her iPhone 5 which has been unlocked nut need to clear the contents. If I clear it now will it do anything to her iPhone 6?

MMy friend just gave me her iPhone 5 which has been unlocked but not cleared. If I clear it now will it do anything to her iPhone 6?

Not so long as she has signed out of iCloud and removed the device from her iCloud account. At that point, restoring the device as new will not affect her phone in any way.

  • Apple has placed a temporary authorization amount hold in my card for repair. My old iphone has been received by apple. how long does it take to release the amount?

Apple has placed a temporary authorization amount hold in my card for repair. My old iphone has been received by apple. how long does it take to release the amount?

How long it takes depends partially on your bank. Once they release it, it could take several days for the authorization to roll off of your account. It is generally not a problem unless you're using a debit card, which will lock the funds in your checking account and make them unavailable, which I presume you did or you wouldn't be worried about it.
This is not unique to Apple. That's a problem when using debit cards for any purchase.  Several years ago, when gas prices spiked to $4 a gallon here, gas stations would routinely authorize and hold upwards of $100 every time you tried to pay at the pump. Created some major headaches for the working stiffs just trying to get to their jobs and pay the bills.

  • My iPhone has been stolen, how can I delete the data on it while at the same time, keeping my number.

Hi there,  My iPhone has been stolen.  I have managed to get a replacement SIM with the same number.  Is there any way I can have the data on the stolen phone deleted or have it tracked and stopped of its use.  I did have Find me App but I am not sure if it was set up. I do not have the phones serial or technical details although iTunes always showed it when connected to my laptop.  Thanks  Bernie

Use your computer and the Find My iPhone on www.iCloud.com and see if it locates your iPhone. If it does then you can wipe it remotely. If not you have no way to do so.
Be sure to change all passwords for sites that were accessed from your iPhone.
