HT1222 invalid signature message

Everytime I try to download newer versions of itunes, I get an invalid signature message and it won't update. Has anyone had this problem and been able to get around it?

Are you updating from Apple Software update or downloading manually from:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
The second way is best if there are problems.
This issue has been associated with router issues. It is probably worth restarting your router to see if that helps.
People using wireless dongles have reported this problem.
Probably the simplest way round this is to get a friend to download the iTunes installer for you and put it on a memory stick.
make sure you get the right version for your system iTunesSetup.exe for 32 bit and iTunes64Setup.exe for 64 bit.

You probably have run out of space, I would delete (or move to an external drive) things that aren't being used as much.

  • Why do I get an "invalid signature" message when trying to download the latest version of iTunes?

Why do I get an "invalid signature" message when trying to download the latest version of iTunes?  Apple Support is the lamest excuse for support I have EVER seen.

That suggests that the installer is getting damaged during the download.
I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:

If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

  • I got a invalid signature message when downloading the Lightroom 5.2 upgrade

I downloaded the Lightroom 5.2 upgrade but got a message "Invalid signature" do I need to download again or is there an override to complete the installation?

If you are having problems, it is best not to use "Upgrade" in iTunes. DOwnload the installer from the APple site:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
SAve the installer onto your desktop rather than running it from your browser.
Then you can upgrade manually using the installer you saved.
That won't solve your problem, but it simplifies things.
You can often get round the invalid drive message by providing iTunes with the drive while you are installing. DO you know what comes up as drive H:, maybe a camera or external drive?
If you don't have something that comes up as H:, maybe you could plug in a memory stick and allocate drive H: to it.
This article about something else contains instructions for allocating a drive letter.

    Twanger317,
Have you tried to do a repair install on the pc of iTunes? Also if that does not work i would follow these instructions on removing iTunes and reinstall. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 for windows vista and 7 and http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925 for windows xp. let me know if that helps.

  • Hi everyone. I am getting the Invalid signature message when installing Itunes and when I try and download directly from apples page I'm prompted to save the EXE.setup file and then nothing happens, it goes straight to the "thanks for downloading itunes"

Hi all, as Ive said in the question, anyone help me with this, have tried most of the suggestions Ive found so far.
    Stephen

No, Nothing happened, nothing was downloaded. When I say nothing happened I mean NOTHING HAPPENED, What can I say to make it more clear. How could I run a file that wasn't downloaded.....Nothing happened, rien, nada, b***** all. Why would I post a message saying "When I press the Save button nothing happens" if something had been downloaded.
I've found out why. It is because I am using Firefox. Presumably a case of Apple treating us users of the superior Operating system (Windows) with distain.

  • I am trying to update Itunes - message is " Invalid signature - download removed'  any ideas

I am trying to update Itunes - message received is " Invalid signature - download  removed"  Wassup doc ???

Try the update again. I received the invalid signature message when I updated to 10.5.1, but re-trying sorted it out. I might have had to re-start my computer, I can't remember now.

  • Another Invalid Signature Problem

For the last few Itunes updates, I have received the "invalid Signature" message and whilst there are a lot of other people reporting this problem, I haven't seen a definitive answer. I am directly ethernet connected to my Linksys router and everything else downloads perfectly. I will try to use another machine to download the update and copy it but I was hoping for a real answer???

A real answer would take some poking around in your particular model Linksys settings.
I saw one post about an MTU setting not matching between the router and the PC, but that was with a wireless setup, not ethernet like you have.
Frankly it would just be easier to download it from another PC, I think.
However, I'm curious if you can get a large download from any other site. The latest itunes DL is around 79MB. Adobe reader is about 49MB - does that go through?

  • Help with updating to 10.5 from 10.3 and getting "invalid signature" error

I am trying to update to iTunes 10.5 so I can sync my new iPhone 4s but I keep getting the error message "invalid signature".  I have tried turning off firewall and antivirus as suggested on this forum to no avail.  Also going through Tools, Download only produced the same error.  Any Suggestions?

I, too, am unable to update to iTunes 10.5 (iPhone 4) OR Safari.  Contunally get "Invalid Signature" messages.  I have "changed" each Apple, iTunes and Safari application through Add/Change Programs to no avail.  I am forwarned removing iTunes from my PC will cause me to lose all my music.  Any suggestions?

  • Apple Software Update for Windows (2.1) has an invalid signature

When I run ASU and it wants to install ASU 2.1 I get the error that it has an invalid signature. It was suggested to use Tools and first download it and then install it, but I manage 350 computers and am trying to automate some of this.
Does any one have a suggestion?
I wonder if Apple will issue a patch, or if there is some amiss with my current ASU.
    Jane

Thanks for the replies, but what I am hoping for is a solution.
Even though I asked, you never said if you have an ASU 2.0.0.21 ... so this solution runs the risk of being irrelevant to your situation. (It applies to the issue of ASU 2.0.0.21 on an XP PC returning an "invalid signature" message when trying to download an ASU 2.1.0.101.)
If that's what you've got here, then usually a software installer bundle from Apple which contains a higher version of ASU than the 2.0.0.21 will install on the PC in question.
(Avoid using the BonJour for Windows 1.0.4 standalone installer just at the moment, as a precaution. Last time I checked, about 20 minutes ago, that still contained an ASU 2.0.0.21, and that won't get you any further forward than you currently are ... assuming that you've currently got an ASU 2.0.0.21 in place.)
So download and install another Apple installer bundle. Here's a link through to the QuickTime Standalone installer, although the Safari for Windows or iTunes installer would also work:
Latest Quicktime Installers … get the one that doesn’t mention iTunes
That should, as part of the install, update your ASU to version 2.1.0.101. To check on that, launch ASU ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"), go "Help > About Apple Software Update" and check the version number. If you're now at ASU 2.1.0.101, you're past the problem with ASU 2.0.0.21 returning an 'Invalid signature" message when trying to install an ASU 2.1.0.101 (assuming that's the particular problem you were actually experiencing).
You can then uninstall QuickTime for Windows (or Safari for Windows, or iTunes and QuickTime and Apple Mobile Device Support, depending on what installer you used to update your ASU version) through your Add/Remove programs control panel.

  • Invalid signature prevents update, unable to install without it

When I try to install Itunes 10.1 from Apple software update on my Windows 7 64 bit machine, I get an "invalid signature" message at the end of the QuickTime downlay and the download aborts. When I download Itunes64Setup.exe from the website, it aborts within a second or two.
I have tried every conceivable solution on this and other websites to no avail (deleting and reinstalling using Windows Install Cleanup and Revo Uninstaller, deleting files directly, changing the options in Internet Explorer, updating Software Update to the newest version, and too many others to mention). I even reinstalled Windows from the DVD. I even spoke with a friend who works as a "Genius" but nothing we tried
I have been able to install QuickTime 7.40 from the standalone file, which gets me back Application Support and Software Uptdate, but Software Update does not work at all and but there is no way to get Itunes back, Since I deleted the prior version of Itunes, I can no longer sync my ipods, Ipad or use my Mobile Me account, no less upgrade to the OS when it comes out next week. I am desperate.

Well, yours is the first I've heard this happening with a wired connection! Had to look up FIOS, no one else has mentioned a fiber optic connection, either.
It's no consolation to YOUR dilemma, but millions of folks are getting the download OK and it DOES have a valid signature.
I've read posts about resetting security certificates, changing router settings, yadda yadda yadda. Seriously it will probably be less time spent trying to troubleshoot, if you just get it the setup files from a friend who has successfully installed itunes/QT.

  • RDS through UAG 2010 - invalid signature

    Hello,
I have a UAG2010 SP4 system and am trying to get a few RemoteApps published.
I'm still getting the "requested URL (/remoteDesktopGateway/) contains an invalid signature" message with Win8 Clients - I thought this was fixed in SP3?
    Thx in advance for help/comments!
