HT1222 Trouble loading iTunes on new HP

I am having trouble loading iTunes on my new HP.  Can you please help?

well the first thing I would recommend is that your computor meets all the itune specifations,
PC with a 1GHz Intel or AMD processor and 512MB of RAM
Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later, 32-bit editions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
64-bit editions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 require the iTunes 64-bit installer
400MB of available disk space
Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store
Also are you trying to down;oad it from the offical site?

  • Trouble loading itunes match on apple tv

I am having trouble loading iTunes Match on my Apple TV. It has the latest OS, the correct account is accessed and iTunes Match is turned on. I tried logging out and back in, but songs from the iCloud just won't load. It says it may take a few minutes, but it has been over 4 hours in the latest attempt. No problem accessing the iCloud on my iPhone 4.
There are only about 3,000 songs in the cloud, so how long should this take ?
Anybody have any ideas ? I subscribed to have my songs available on Apple TV...
    Thanks for any input.

Yes, the initial scan, match and upload process is completed. As far as my network is concerned, there is nothing unusual happening, just some emails etc - normal stuff and I am on high speed.
On Apple TV, the "loading circle" just keeps on spinning, but nothing else is happening. Not sure what else to try...

  • Old computer crashed; loaded iTunes to new computer, won't sync my iPod

The computer I initially set up my 60g iPod video crashed (windows based). I loaded iTunes on my new computer (also windows based) and even entered my iPod serial number. When I plug it into the USB port, iTunes recognizes the iPod (with my name) and even shows all the songs and videos on the screen, but they are in faded gray and I can't highlight them or upload them into iTunes. When the iPod is first plugged in, I get the message about the iPod being authorized on another computer and can set it up on the new one, but then it would remove the entire contents and update with the new library which has nothing in it.
Is there any way to upload my iPod contents into the newly loaded iTunes on my new computer? I got an iTouch for X-Mas and I am hoping that when I load that software, it will recognize my older iPod's music library and upload it. Of course, this won't matter if I can't get my old stuff into me new iTunes.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
    TuneJack Windows Only
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iGadget Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    SharePod Windows Only
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • Loading iTunes on new PC with Vista disables CD/DVD-RW Drive

When I have loaded iTunes on my new Toshiba Laptop A205 with a Pioneer DVD-R/W drive running Vista Home Premium, the DVD drive stops functioning and when I open Device Manager properties, there is an error message: "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" When I click the button to "Check for solutions..." the message comes back: "COuld not load drive software"
I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice and the issue is consistant. Does anyone have a clue for a solution?

I have the same problem!!! I'm running on Windows Vista, have a DELL Inspiron 530 desktop, and have a Toshiba/Samsung TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-H653A ATA Device for my optical drive with the latest drivers. When I install the latest version of iTunes, things are great, when I reboot, my drive "disappears" and shows an "error 10" in the Device Manager. When I uninstall iTunes and reboot, the drive is recognized again! I went a step further and pinpointed the problem to specifically iTunes (versus some other burning software i.e. roxio).
Also, this is not a registry key problem! I read the forums and went in and deleted the upper key and the lower key already had GEAR--something.... whatever Microsoft said should be in the dialog box. When I changed my registry keys, yes my optical drive was recognized, but then iTunes said that it needed to be reinstalled because some files were now missing, so i reinstalled it, rebooted, and my drive goes missing again! ARG!
PLEASE SOMEONE OUT THERE HELP!!! My sister has the same system practically, but on a DELL laptop, and she doesn't have this problem. What's wrong?!

It may depend on the plugin that is loaded into your browser. However, right click on a PDF and select the Open With option and go to the default button to select Acrobat as the default. That might do it.

  • Re-loading itunes on new hard-drive

I would like to know the safest way to reload my itunes program and files into a larger hard disk. Basically my C drive is almost full and I want to transfer and run itunes from the D drive.

Firstly is iTunes set up such that it keeps the iTunes folder organised and is it also set to copy new files to the iTunes Music Folder when adding to the Library? These and other settings can be found under Edit>Preferences>Advanced>General.
If not I would make it so and then and only then I would select Consolidate Library from the Advanced menu of iTunes. This will then copy any files from 'outside' the iTunes folder into it.
Once you have done all the above:
Copy the iTunes folder from it's location on your 'C' drive to your 'D' drive. Once the copy has finished check the contents of the itunes folder and see if most things are listed.
    Next navigate again to Edit>Preferences>Advanced>General
Next to the iTunes Music folder location click the Change button and now navigate to the iTunes folder you copied to you 'D' drive and make that the new location for your iTunes Library.
Now not until you are happy that all your files are in the new location do you delete the old iTunes folder!!
If you do find any that are missing first check that the settings are as above and drag the missing files to the iTunes Library icon in the main iTunes window. iTunes will now add those files to the library and copy them to its music folder on the 'D' drive.

  • Having trouble authorizing itunes on new iPad2

The password will not work on the new iPad 2, but works on every other device.  What do I need to do to fix this? Thanks

Sign into your account in iTunes - from that page you should be able to deauthorise ALL 5 authorised computers - supposedly you can do this once a year.
Thereafter any devices you no longer have will be deauthorised, and you can reauthorise those you still have or are new.

  • Trouble downloading itunes onto new laptop

Hi guys, I've been trying to download iTunes onto a new HP Pavillion g6 notebook with Windows 7 Home premium.
It never seems to work and the main dialog box I get says
Service 'Apple Mobile Device' failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
    Also another dialog box says
Apple Application Support was not found. Error 2 (Windows error 2)
I'm wondering what I need to do now?
    Thank you for any help

Where do you typically find the library.xml file? I cannot seem to find it on my old hard drive. I have looked under iTunes. If you could point me in the right direction that would be great.

  • Old computer crashed, loaded iTunes onto new one, need to get (re) started

I lost my old computer (disk crash). I've restored the old iTunes library (plus more) onto my new windows desktop (from a Maxtor backup).
How do I now initialize my iPod photo (30Gb) on the new computer? It is not registered to this new computer. Do I use the original CDs that came with my iPod 2 years ago?
I want to wipe the iPod clean and synch only selected stuff, as I have ~33Gb in my new iTunes library. How do I select smartly when I have 8000 files?

"How do I now initialize my iPod photo (30Gb) on the new computer? It is not registered to this new computer."
You don't need to do anymore than connect the iPod, if you are updating automatically it will connect and sync with the new library.
" I want to wipe the iPod clean and synch only selected stuff"
If you want to erase it and start from scratch then restore it with the iPod Updater. This will erase the hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings: Restoring iPod to Factory Settings
If you want an alternative to aoto-syncing the whole library then you can choose the update option "automatically update selected playlists only". Using this option you could create a playlist specifically for your iPod and drag the tracks you want into it. If you tire of the list and want to change it, you just add or remove the songs you don't want. The ones you take out out remain in the library. You can read more about playlists at these links:
iTunes: Creating playlists of your favorite songs
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
You could also choose to manage it manually: Managing Your Songs Manually

  • Trouble With iTunes on new PC

I just copied my itunes folder via an external hard drive on to my new PC with Windows 8. The only music that shows up in my library are the ones that can be downloaded with icloud (the music I purchased through the itunes store.) How do I get all my other music to show up in my itunes library? Thanks for any Help!

  • Trouble transferring iTunes to new computer

I Transferred Itunes from old PC using external hard drive.  Once imported to new computer, the playlists with all my songs are there but they won't play.  iTunes states can't locate original file.  Is there a quick solution to this?
Went from XP to Win 8

Did you copy your entire iTunes library?  By default this will have been C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes - you need to copy everything in this folder to C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes on your new PC.  The contents of this folder should be:
    Album Artwork -- folder
iTunes Media -- folder containing a number of subfolders:
    Automatically Add to iTunes
    Audiobooks
    Music
    -- etc.
    Previous iTunes Libraries -- folder
    iTunes Library Extras.itdb
    iTunes Library Genius.itdb
iTunes Library.itl -- this is the iTunes database that includes, among many other things, the definition of all your playlists
    iTunes Library.xml -- (sometimes iTunes Music Library.xml)
    sentinel -- hidden file
Its possible that you haven't copied the media folders, that the settings on your XP machine were such that iTunes was not automatically copying media files to the media folders (i.e., the files are still there on the old machine but not within the standard folder hierarchy) or that you've changed the relationship between the iTunes database file (iTunes Library.itl) and the media folders.  Are all your songs missing from the new library or just some of them?

  • Loading iTunes on new PC with Vista disables CD-DVD drive; driver issues?

There is something in the iTunes software that causes my CD-DVD drive to stop working and cannot be recognized as a device by Windows. I suspect that iTunes is replacing the CD/DVD driver with one of their own which is nt compatible with the hardware or with Vista.
Any ideas on a fix? I would REALLY like to have my tunes!

this can be a symptom of a device filter conflict in
your registry. try running through the suggestions

I had these same issues--my CD/DVD drive won't work after I installed Itunes on Windows Vista. I followed these directions to the letter. None of them worked. I'm glad I backed up my registry. Any more suggestions?
