HT1226 how to add security key to airport extreme that was set up without? a key?

How can I add a security to my airport extreme that was set up without one?

Will have to have re-set up my airport express or will the extreme just work with the express? I have the express locked down and I thought about unlocking the express? What would I do to set this up? Any help I would greatly appreciate it!!!
You should set up the Extreme as your main router and eventually the Express to stream music or to extend the wireless.
After the Extreme is set up and running, just set the Express e.g. to "Join a wireless network".
Alternatively reset the Express to factory default (see manual) and configure it from the scratch to your needs.

    Hi,
not all key figure types are supported in BPS.
    1. All key figure types must have aggregation SUM, SUM.
    2. Supported key figure types:
    - amout
    - quantity
    - number (integer, float, dec)
    - time, only type DEC
    - datum, only type DEC
All other key figures are filtered out and are not available in BPS.

  • How to add NAS to existing Airport Extreme Base Station Network...

Hi! I have a Airport Express network (DSL provided via a DSL modem) that is connected to the PC via ethernet, iMac 333 via Wireless adapter, and Powerbook via wireless card. I am bursting at the seams with components!!
I have the printer set up via the AE.
I would like to add a NAS to the works. (Just to see if it can frustrate me even more! )
How exactly would I hook this up? Any suggestions? Has anyone done this? Have a favorite NAS device you can recommend? We are looking to install this for a centralized place to store all our music, photos, movies, etc. We have TONS of digital media to store and it is clogging up our respective hard drives!
Thanks in advance for the help!!

It is unclear... Do you have an AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) or AirPort Express (AX)?
If you have an AEBS then you should have this configuration:
    DSL modem<->[WAN] AEBS [LAN]<->PC
If that is your current setup, you would need to modify it by adding an Ethernet switch (or hub) so that it looks like this:
    DSL modem<->[WAN] AEBS [LAN]<->switch<-+->PC
    .......................................|->NAS

  • How to add USB printer to airport extreme

    How to setup with utility

You do not use the AirPort Utility to set up a printer if that is what you mean.
You will need a Mac or a PC to setup the printer.
Post back to let us know what you have and what operating system is being used. Also we need to know if your are asking if it is possible to print from your iPad or iPhone. It may or may not be.
Keep in mind that not all printers are compatible with the AirPort Express, so this will be one of those times when you will not know if something will work until you try it.
Also keep in mind that if you have an All-in-One device, only the print function will be supported when the device is connected to the AirPort Extreme. If you need copy, scan, maintenance, etc.....probably best to leave the device connected directly to your computer.

  • How to find security code for Airport Extreme

I need to find the security code for my Airport Extreme to connect to my Smart TV

Unfortunately, locating the long 64 character code will rarely ever help, since most products will not accept a code of this length.
    Nonetheless.......
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click on the AirPort Extreme icon, then click Edit
Click the Base Station menu at the very top of the screen
    Click Show Passwords

  • How many ip addresses will an airport extreme handle?

I have about 60 devices in my home that need an IP address and can only imagine with the Internet of Things, wearables, security etc. that it will go higher in the future.
How many IP addresses will an Airport Extreme or Time Capsule handle reliably?
    Thanks -

About 250 total wireless and Ethernet addresses, with a limit of 50 for wireless devices........assuming that it is the AirPort Extreme or Time Capsule that is acting as the router handing out the IP addresses.

  • How do you upload firmware to Airport extreme with the following message: This version of AirPort Utility requires this AirPort Extreme use firmware version 7.3.1 or later. Use AirPort Utility 5.6 to update this base station. I'm using airport utility 6.0

The airport extreme at my parent's house has not had its firmware update in some time and it keeps dropping the internet connection and needing to be reset.
I went to update firmware and opened up airport utilities (I'm running airport 6.0 on Mountain Lion, 10.7.4).  Everytime I open the airport utility I get the following message: "
This version of AirPort Utility requires this AirPort Extreme use firmware version 7.3.1 or later. Use AirPort Utility 5.6 to update this base station. AirPort Utility 5.6 is available at AirPort Service and Support.
I've followed the link and tried to update firmwares but none are available and the print says that airport utility will look to see if firmware are available and load them as necessary when prompted by user.
One link said the only way to solve this problem is open up Airport Utility 5.6. I tried to do this, but 5.6 is not supported on Mountain Lion and couldn't be opened up.
I'm getting the exact same message on my other computer, a Mac Air.
So basically, can't download new firmware and am stuck with a ****** airport extreme that needs to keep being reset, a factory reset, in order to use the internet, but then continues to give me the same message.
    Thanks!

See this article for instructions on how to install AirPort Utility 5.6 for Lion on Mountain Lion:

  • How do I make my new Airport Extreme a base station?

I have been using an Airport Extreme (5th generation) as my base station router for a few years. I set the main network for my and my wife's use and created a guest network for when my sons visited and needed to use the wi-fi connection. I used passwords for both networks. Today I purchased a new 802.11 ac Airport Extreme. I unplugged the 5h gen. Extreme and plugged in the new Extreme. After a short hunt, my new 27" (late 2013) iMac found the new Extreme and had me set up a name and a password for it using Airport Utility. I was expecting it to ask if I wanted to set up a guest network, but it did not. I was expecting it to ask since I believe that is what happened when I installed my 5th gen Extreme a few years ago. For the 5th gen Extreme, I had to enter a password to protect settings on the Extreme, a WPA2 password for my main network and another password for my guest network. It took about 10 minutes to set up. For this new Airport Extreme I entered just one password. It took about 2 to 3 minutes for the entire setup. When I checked the menu in the Airport Utility under "Base Station", all lines are grayed out. Under the File Menu in Airport Utility, "Configure Other" is available, but "Import Configuration file" and "Export Configuration file" are also grayed out. I checked Network Settings in System Preferences and I see my new network name in the Wi-Fi menu and under the "Advanced..." button, I see the old and new Networks listed in the "Preferred networks" box.
So, how do I get the new Airport Extreme to act as the Base station and be able to enter a guest network? Does it require me to delete the old Network name from the Advanced... button page in System Preferences > Network Settings? Will I just have to start all over with the new Extreme to make it a base station?

    Hello Leo,
I'm not at home so can't confirm but I can only assume that maybe some of the "old" settings in airport utility have changed, and simplified.  Hence why you probably only need one password.
When I bought the new "tower" like AirPort Extreme, I just plugged it into the Ethernet, powered it on with the previous generation Extreme in place and in Airport Utility it just asked me if I wanted to copy the settings to the newer device, which included a few "port forwarding" settings.  All done in this sequence.  I didn't have guest network set up but you can still set up guest network under wireless in Airport Utility, hope this helps!

  • How do i use a 2nd airport extreme both are newer models

how do i use a 2nd airport extreme both are newer models

I assume that you mean that you want to extend the range using wireless only.
This Apple Support Document will tell you exactly how to do that:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4259
The instructions assume that you have AirPort Utility 5.6 for Mac OS X Lion , so if you have not already done so, you will need to download and install this application to track the instructions in the support document.

Can you clarify which version of the AirPort Extreme that you have now along with the model that you plan to use as the second device?
The older "round" AirPort Exteme or the newer "square" version with rounded corners?
Are you planning to extend using wireless only.....or by connecting the AirPort Extremes using a wired Ethernet connection?
