HT1238 can't transfer music to ipod touch

Since reinstalling windows on my pc, i can't add / remove music from my sons ipod touch..

You can only sync with one iTunes library/computer. the iPod sees you rebuilt computer as a new computer/library.. Thus, follow these instructions

You can transfer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
Non-iTunes purchases by using one of the third-party programs discussed in this previous discussion:

For purchased songs you can plug the iPod into you new computer and use the "File > Transfer Purchases from iPod" feature in iTunes. For music not purchased from the iTunes store you will need a third party program to help. There are a few of them out there, and they are easy to find on Google.

Can someone tell me if it's possiable to transfer music from ipod to the iphone

    You cannot.
Everything that is on your ipod should be in itunes on your computer.  Just sync it to the iphone from your computer.

  • How can I transfer music from iPod to iTunes?

All of the music on my iPod nano is in my ex-husband's iTunes on a Mac. Now have a Windows PC and want to transfer music from iPod to iTunes. Computer says 'Need to Format disk in Drive E'. Will this lose everything? Not sure what the best way is to do everything but haven't got any way of backing up my iPod at present. Thank you!

any itunes purchased music can be transferred from phone to pc via hitting the "transfer purchases" option when u right click on the phone under devices in itunes on the computer when it is plugged in. any non-itunes purchased music is stuck on the phone and cannot be transferred to the computer. u will have to load it onto the computer from the original source or from the old computer.

  • Transfer music from iPod touch to iTunes on a new PC

I recently got a new PC and I am trying to transfer all of my music from my iPod touch (my old computer is in a different country so I can no longer access it) to my new PC. I know that I can transfer iTunes purchases, but many of my songs are from hard copies of albums or were downloaded from Amazon - is it possible to transfer all of these from iPod to iTunes?
    Any help appreciated!

  • How do I transfer music from ipod touch

My iphone is new and has no music.
My computer crashed a while back and I lost my music.
All my music is on my iPod touch.
How do I transfer it back to my iPhone &/or computer?
Both my iPhone and iPod are showing in my iTunes and I can even play the music from my iPod.
But I don't seem to be able to either drag & drop, or copy & paste my music.
Syncing only warns me I will replace the music on my ipod, WHICH I DONT WANT TO DO.
    Help please!

There are a few programs out there that allow you to transfer your music from your iPod to your computer, but I believe you have to pay for most of them. Here is a link to a program I know of:
    http://www.digidna.net/tuneaid/
There are other programs out there that will do the same thing, so I would start doing some searches on google and see what you find. I also found this article on Apple's website: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1329

  • HT1296 can I transfer music from ipod to itunes after reinstalling itunes on computer?

Recently had to factory restore my computer after detecting a nasty bug which wiped out everything I had on my computer. Is there a way to download my music from my Ipod touch to my computer? I haven't had any luck by plugging my Ipod to the computer via USB cord and am wondering if there is a way to do it at all without having to manually download the cd's myself? Thanks!

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion.
    Have you failed to backup?
    Not good.
You can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod:  File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
In some countries you can redownload some itunes purchases:
Download previous purchases from the iTunes Store - Support - Apple

  • Can I transfer music from Ipod to my new computer?

My old computer is fading fast and I want to save my music. Is there a way to download music from my Ipod onto my new computer? I don't want to take the time to copy library to discs and reinstall. Any suggestions?

1). Connect your iPod to your new computer. If it is set to sync automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.
Alternatively open iTunes first and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and check the box "Disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods" and choose Ok. Then connect your iPod.
2). When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
3). Once you are connected and your iPod is safely in manual mode there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. iTunes will only give you the option to copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads etc) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here (you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well):
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
A selection of iPod to iTunes utilities:
Senuti Mac Only (iPod Touch & iPhone compatible)
expod Mac Only (iPod Touch & iPhone compatible)
    PodView Mac Only
    PodWorks Mac Only
TuneAid Mac only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    YamiPod Mac & Windows
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPodRip Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    Floola Mac & Windows
Music Rescue Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
4). Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.
5). I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • Can't add music to ipod touch even though computer and itunes recognize it

I have an ipod touch 4th generation that has suddenly stopped allowing me to add any music to it. It worked absolutely great with no problems for about a year  and suddenly when I load it up on itunes I can't add any music to it at all. if I try and drag any music from my computer on to it, I get this no icon as you can see
Same if I try and add music from my itunes library.
I've done pretty much everything I can think of to try and fix this, I've completely wiped itunes from my computer and re-installed, I've made sure that my ipods ios is up to date, I've reset my ipod, I've completely erased my ipod and restored it to factory settings. I have an old backup but it fails every time I try and restore it, saying that the backup session failed. I've tried resetting the lockdown folder as recommended but when I delete it, itunes can't connect to my ipod, so I ended up restoring the lockdown folder back to where it was from my trash can. I've made sure all my drivers are up to date and my computer is AMD so i know its not an intel chipset/ipod issue. I've turned off my antivirus and computer security programs and that made no difference at all.
These problems are the same when tried on another computer and I'm sure I've done other things as well but I'm drawing a blank trying to think them up.
I have an old ipod mini that has absolutely no problems at all using the same itunes and computer so I'm pretty sure this issue is located just on this ipod. I bought it used on amazon so the warranty and service coverage have already expired, so I kinda have to figure out how to fix it myself..
Anybody help at all with this would be greatly appreciated

I don't see how it could be windows causing the issue since my other ipod works fine with this installation of windows on this computer and I don't at the moment have anyway to back up what I have on my computer in order to re-install windows, but maybe if nobody else has another solution I'll look into it. Thank you for your help and suggestions

  • Can't Sync Music to iPod Touch

I am having issues syncing or adding music to my iPod Touch. So here's what happened... I was adding new music to the iPod. I select an album and drag & drop it onto my iPod Touch in iTunes to sync the music onto my iPod. While it's syncing that album I drag and dropped another album to be synced. Once I did this all syncing ended. Afterwards I can't sync anything at all onto my iPod Touch.
I've restarted my iPod by holding the power button and home button at the same time. I've turned the device off by holding the sleep button in until it gives me the option to turn the device off. I've restarted iTunes too. The only thing that temporarily helped was updating to iOS 7.1.2, but afterwards the same issues persisted.
    Specs
    iOS 7.1.2
    iTunes 11.2.2.3
    iPod Touch 5th Generation
    32 GB

hi there. thanks for responding. my answers underlined
What happens when you try to sync? it looks like it's working, but maybe it's just syncing from ipod TO imac not the other way round, not sure.
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
yes i think so. the imac is new to us, and previously i THINK the ipod was sync'd to our pc
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
    no
Do the songs play in iTunes?
    yes
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?
    yes
does that narrow anything down ??
    thanks again

  • Can't transfer contacts from ipod touch to ipad mini!!

    Hi
My son has several contacts on his ipod touch (5th gen). I simply want to move these to the new ipod mini we’ve just bought him.
I’ve followed all the articles on the Apple support pages but can’t figure out how to do this.
Synced old ipod via itunes to sync contacts etc
I’ve set up new ipad mini with pc and itunes
    ipad has latest IOS
    Synced new ipad etc
Whatever I do I simply can’t get the contacts on his ipod to appear in his new ipad mini!
The only thing I can think of is that he created the contacts mainly for face time purposes so they only exist on the ipod. That said I thought syncing would do the trick.
Any advice would be much appreciated as I’m determined to do this on principle now!
    Many thanks
    Simon

if worst comes to worse, you can always re-download purchased apps (free of charge) in iTunes. see _*How to redownload purchased apps from the App Store*_.

  • Can't send music to iPod Touch from iTunes?

hi all, this has been bothering me for a few weeks now and i can't figure it out.
i've been trying to send mp3s to my iPod Touch and i just can't get it done. i'm running the newest iTunes with a fully updated iPod Touch 4th gen. it's connected via the Apple supplied cable into my Mac Mini.
can i just paste mp3's onto the iPod Touch like i can in Windows with a standard mp3 player? iTunes just seems to make things really complicated for me.
    i'd appreciate any help.
    thanks a lot!

i've had to download an App called 'air play it' just to listen to my mp3s while im in the living room because i can't send mp3s to my iPod Touch.
'air play it' only acts as a streamer though so i can't copy songs from my Mac to the iPod Touch.
    thanks
