I connected my new Iphone 4 to the computer and it stated that I need the new 10.5 software so I downloaded that. Well I use to have the old Iphone and now that I connected my phone. It deleted everything! My NEW Iphone 4 has the software of the old iphone now!!!!!!!!!
What do I do ?????

All of your content/data should be on your computer. Just sync it to the iphone.

Apple ID & iPhone4 Issue

I just purchased my iPhone4 today and at the same time created a NEW apple ID (changed email addresses). The issue is that I'm using the same computer, but when I do updates on my iPhone, it keeps giving me the "old" apple ID and not the new one I created. In iTunes the new ID is working fine. I've gone to settings/store on my iPhone to control and there I see the "new" ID, yet when I do updates or purchase something it goes to the "old" one and I can't change it...
Is there something I have to do in iTunes??? or direclty on my iPhone to have the "new" ID working...

Only IMAP accounts will sync in the way you describe, other accounts will not and you will need to delete or move the same email on each device.
You will need to use your me address if you want email in it, you'll need to send from it and get others to send to it instead of your other email accounts your me address is an IMAP account and so will behave the way you want.

Help Cloning Old iPhone 3g to new iPhone4 issue

A friend has given me her new iphone 4 and asked if I can sync her old iphone's content over to the new handset. (contacts, apps,music, etc)
However, she has already tried herself and so the iphone4 is already recognised by itunes. Is there any way to reset this, so that I get the option to sync her iphone 3 details when I plug it in?

If you upgrade from a previous iPhone model (ie: 3G or 3GS) and use the option to restore from backup you will lose FaceTime as it isn't accessible to previous models. To ensure proper configuration for a user of a new iPhone 4 do the following:
*First time activating iPhone 4:*
1. First sync older iPhone 3G/3GS in iTunes if applicable. This will backup any apps downloaded from the iPhone as well contacts from the address book and messages. The iPhone must be synced to the iTunes account that was originally sync, not from a different user computer as this will wipe the iPhone information.
2. Then disconnect previous model and connect new iPhone 4.
3. Choose set-up option for new iPhone, not restore from backup.
4. Once iPhone 4 activated select options you want to sync from iTunes.
5. Mail will need to be manually configured for email accounts and visual voicemail. Do not restore from a backup as this will corrupt the iOS due to it will believe it's an older model thus exclude FaceTime and cause issues with Visual Voicemail.
6. After syncing the new iPhone 4 if you run into issues later and want to do a restore from backup choose the one for iPhone 4 not backups done from previous models.
*Fixing an iPhone 4 after choosing to restore from backup from an iPhone 3G/3GS:*
1. Sync your iPhone 4 to ensure all apps and contacts are backed up in iTunes.
2. Select "Restore" (don't choose to restore from backup).
3. Select "set-up new iPhone" instead of restoring from a previous backup.
4. Once iPhone 4 activated select options you want to sync from iTunes.
5. Manually set-up your email and visual voicemail.
6. You should now see FaceTime as an option when you are on a call.
7. If you ever need to restore from a backup ensure to select the one for the iPhone 4, not previous versions which do not support FaceTime.

Bluetooth MacBook Pro - iPhone4 issue!

I have a MacBook Pro and a iPhone4. I'd like to connect both devices via Bluetooth to share the MacBook Lan Internet connection but there is no way of doing it.
I have no problem with the iPad2, iPad3, iPhone3GS, but with the iPhone4, after the bluetooth setup is established, I get the error "Cannot connect to MacBook Pro, device not supported"...
Any help please?

I just want to add some more information. This used to work a few months ago (before this last iOS release). I have used my iPhone 4 as a hot spot, and connected to my macbook pro via bluetooth and it worked just fine. Now it does not work. I personally believe it is a glitch in the iOS release that only affected the iPhone4. There are numerous other issues that this has caused (one example is the bluetooth connectivity on the micoach product). However, since the iPhone 4 is the bottom of the totem pole, I would not expect a fix. From reading around the internet (all of which is true by the way), things are just fine on the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 with the new iOS and bluetooth.

since upgrading my iphone4 to ios6 and the latest itunes version all itunes does when i open it is freeze. i can't add or remove music and the only way to close itunes is via task manager.
help please, it's driving me nuts!

Restoring iPhone4 on iPhone4S issue

Hello, I got problems after restored my Iphone4 on my new iphone4S with not success. I got all the information, actually pictures are synced on the iCloud. When I´m sending emails or checking the Facebook the iPhones closes the app with no reason.

Ok, if your purchased music is still on the iPhone 4 then in iTunes you can transfer purchases. If not you will have to wait until Apple releases iCloud, which should happen in one or two months. Then you will be able to re download any previous purchases. Oh, I just remembered. Do you live in America? Because if you do then you already have iCloud's previous purchases option. Just go into the iTunes store on your iPhone and click on the purchases tab.

how do i transfer all my contacts in the broken iphone to the new one once i get it?

i have the SIM card, but i heard the new iphone4's SIM card is different.

The iPhone doesn't store contacts on the SIM card.
Hopefully, if you've done as advised and synched your contacts with a program like Address Book (Mac), Mobile Me, Google, or Outlook, your contacts are available for you to synch back with your new phone.
If you haven't done that, well, you've learned a very hard lesson. Sorry.

Yeah this was my first time connecting my phone to the computer since I went to iOS 5.0 and iCloud, so I wasn't familiar with the fact that it did not automatically create a backup on iTunes during the Sync process. Should have right-clicked on the phone device and did a manual backup.
But still, after restoring the backup from iCloud, I don't understand why data from certain apps got hosed (anything before October 2011, which was my last iTunes backup), while other apps' data appears to be fully intact.

I would highly appreciate it if someone could take a moment and help me regarding my iPhone4 issues. I had my iPhone resting on my desk unplugged for quite some time, and when I decided to make a call, the phone was really hot I could not hold it against my face, the phone turned off and the call was lost. I look at the screen and it was turning off and on automatically, it's been doing so for 3hrs and I don't know what to do. I've already tried to turn it off and it won't even turn off. I'm contemplating whether to go to an AT&T store for advice or call the apple store. It's Friday 08/23/2013 and this hasn't happened to me before, will someone please help? Thanks in advance.

Little hard to understand what you are asking. Let me guess that this not an Iphone4S issue. Its a problem with your service provider. Contact them.

Skype on 3G

Has anyone tried using Skype on the iPhone 4 using 3G service? It's basically unusable, I haven't been able to hold a connection for longer than a minute or so without it dropping the call. I just wonder if it's just the area where I live (Chicagoland) or if many people are having the same issue.

Skype on 3G with 4-5 bars works somewhat well if you are NOT moving/traveling (isn't reliable in vehicle); otherwise I can stream Pandora, NPR, etc to my heart's content.
Latency and bandwidth are seemingly real culprits with regard to networks and Skype (maintaining of sync, attempts to regain, and eventually cascading to failure). I also believe there are antenna issues that still remain obstacles for the iPhone4 even when used with a bumper.
I have iPhone4 issues with both 3G AT&T calls and Skype2.1.1 (Via 3G and/or WiFi) with call quality and the maintaining a connection. I did NOT experience same issues with my iPhone3Gs even when one considers the recalculation of the bars by Apple in iOS4.0.1. I live where I get 1 bar and I'm on my second iPhone4.
Signal quality is so bad where I reside in a 125K city that is flat as a pancake with an iPhone4, I'm forced to use an AT&T MicroCell which has a footprint of about 15 feet from device (I can't recommend its reliability). Unable to use Skype via MicroCell (dropped calls, call quality).
My MacBook Pro (Q1'10) OS10.6.4 is much more stable with Skype2.8.0.851 (16248), but not perfect.
Additional info: Uverse Internet WiFi (w/isolated channel 3 positions free on either side of channel with no notable interference via AirRadar) @ 12MBps

so i was having issues sending email using my gmail account on my new iphone4s. i called my provider, att - to fix the issue, mine anyway, under settings - general - reset - reset network connections. fixes the send issue. releases all of the other junk that was left on your old phone.
