While upgrading my iPhone 3GS to iOS 4.2 something went wrong and came up with the message "The iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred [1015]." Now it will not start at all. It just stays on screen with USB and the iTune picture. What can I do to get it going again. I only tried to upgrade because I was prompted to up-grade and now I am helpless. I did a backup before starting the upgrade. The error message did not tell what to do next. Any help is very much appreciated.
Usually that means the iPhone was hacked to unlock it from the original
carrier .
Updating the operating system locks it back to that original carrier

I was halfway updating my phone to iOs7 when it froze halfway through where it shows the apple symbol. So I turned it off and now it says that I have to connect to iTunes. So I did and it said it was in the recovery mode and should be restored. I restored it and then it come up with a message that says "iPhone cannot be restored. Does anybody know why my ipod touch 3rd generations screen does not show anything? The screen is all black constantly. All of a sudden my iPhone 3GS gave me a message about setting "Location Services" I think? anyway, when it failed a few times, I was then directed to "restore" my phone. tried that and POOF!!!! could not be restored. Now have a cute little paper weight, but would like to convert it back to a phone. Any help?
Error 1 is a very bad Hardware Error of the Baseband Chip. There is no fix. If you have Warranty or AppleCare Coverage, make Genius Reservation and take iPhone to Apple for resolution.

iphone 3gs shows activation required, hooked up to iTunes and it is not recognized. Did the restore but just gets to the end and gives an error message it could not be restored, an unknown error occurred (-1). Can someone assist me in next steps please?
Instructions to get the phone back working temporary.. till there is a real fix.
1. turn off the phone
2. fire up iTunes
3. press and hold the home button, plug in the cable, hold till you get to see the recovery mode
4. iTunes will the allow to choose restore the phone back to 5.0.1 ( no other choice)
5. iTunes will then ask you to choose which previous backup to would like to recover.
(note: please do not reboot your phone unless necessary, i realize at times after reboot, it goes back to sq1) -

thanksI would like to know if there is a better to fix this since this iphone has been jailbroken. Google search only shows stuff that talks about installing software that has to do with jailbreaking. I just need to restore back to normal. Thank you!
