You need to take your MacBook Pro to your Apple store genius bar and check that they will do the upgrade for you...price for 4 GB memory used to be $200 but you will have to check with them for the current cost.
You can also check with OWC, http://www.macsales.com and see what their cost is and decide if you want to do it yourself. Cost will be about half of that at the Apple store.

Can someone please share any step by step guides or instructional videos for installing a new internal HDD in a MacBook Pro 13" mid-2012 model. Also, please advise on how to format the new HDD as it is an unformatted one.
Thanks in advance!To format your new HDD, connect it to your MBP and open Disk Utility>Erase. Select Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and then clone the data from the internal HDD to the new external one. You may use Disk Utility>Restore or use Carbon Copy Cloner (third party software) to do the cloning. Test the new HDD via Startup manager and then perform the swap.

I own a Macbook Pro 15" (late 2011) and I would like to upgrade the memory. I want to go with two 8gb sticks but if the motherboard only supports 8gb then I will have to stick with 8gb. Also, the ram that I have in currently, which is the 4gb that came with the mac, is 1333 Mz. Would I be able to upgrade to 1600 Mz on this laptop?Max is 16 GBs. Hi, I bought this MacBook Pro a year back , as I am not a professional and for me Apple is a brand that one can buy any product while eyes shut. Apple does not provide support via email or publish email contact addresses. You will have to use the other channels that are offered.
What question(s) do you still want to ask? At worst, you bought a MacBook Pro that had just been discontinued after ten months in production. A week or two before you bought it, it was still the latest 13" model. If you bought it at the very beginning of last February, it was still the latest model then, and the seller didn't know any more than you did about the new models that would be released later that month. While it is a common practice among Mac resellers to offer a small discount on discontinued models after new models are released, resellers are under no obligation to do so, and in any case it is always up to the buyer to determine exactly what he or she is buying and to research whether or not it's fit for his or her purpose. Apparently you didn't do either. If you have any grounds at all for a dispute (which is doubtful in my view), the dispute is with the local reseller, not with Apple, who does not control the pricing or practices of resellers.
You are probably finding, or have already found, that a 13-inch MBP with only integrated graphics processing is inadequate for the uses you hope to make of it. You will need a more powerful machine with a discrete graphics processor and a larger screen for the work you have in mind. Even the current 13" MBPs wouldn't suffice for that — a 15" MBP is the minimum that would do. Sell your machine to someone whose work will be less demanding, and get a new MBP that will meet your needs. -

I have MacBook Pro. I have my iPhoto library on external hard drive only. It has 30,000 photos on it. I have bought a 2nd external hard drive and would like to copy my iPhoto library onto it as a back up. I tried plugging both in and dragging the iPhoto library into the 2nd external harddrive. It looked as though it was working as it said 20 hours, however I then got a message box saying FiNader could not complete the task due to incompatible files. How do I do this please.

Until we know what format the drive is it is impossible to state that it must be formatted - that is just a guess
And a Mac can not Natively write to an NTSF drive - it can natively read it but can not write to it with special software
And since formatting a drive erases it it is critical to tell users not to format until they have a positively known good backup
The TOU for these forum state that you should test your answers prior to posting them -- you obviously are not doing that and you advice is endangering users photos - please only post tested answers

Does anyone know how well the Intel Iris Pro installed on new 15" MacBook Pros performs using Photoshop and Lightroom? I have seen some differing opinions out there, and I would rather not shell out the extra cash for the Nvidia if I don't have to. I mostly do photo editing for business and personal use. If you're unable to turn it on, let alone even charge it then it definitely sounds like a battery issue to me. I'd wait for someone else to reply just to be sure but I think somehow the battery by the sounds of it must have died. However, I could be very wrong.

You don't download QuickTime Pro directly; you download QuickTime 7 and apply the code you bought to it.

I bought macbook pro last year July and i had lot of issue and problems start just after 2 months of my purchase
apple care re-install OS 4-5 times, replace RAM 3 times and they replace Kernel Logic Board 2 times but still my laptop is not working it's hanged and sometime it response very late (seems hang for fer seconds) the funny thing is when i check all repair cost it's almost 70% of new MacBook Pro. I really don;t know why they not give me new unit. Can some please tell me what is the return policy of apple because i really ****** off every week i went to apple store to solve the same issue and when i said i am not satisfied with this unit i want another new laptop then store manager said we can't give you new unit we can repair it.

I wish I could record it and play it so I could see if thats normal from other members... the icon just sitting there for over 35 second (I just counted 36 till the loading screen popped up) at first I thought it was me not clicking hard enought cuz the mouse button I have is real stiff (any ideas on that?) but no it takes that long just to get to the app loading screen... this happens every time same amount of time with the 3 programs I use the most, prolly more but I know for a fact world of warcraft, uTorrent, and Google Chrome. I would just chalk it up to slow hardware but they load real quick in windows 7 and once this bad spot is loaded the program runs so fast and nice afterword. Maybe some tweeks? I wonder if this would happen in Snow?
The coment "few outdated programs" Ive seen alot its not just a few its a lot and since games are not Apple's strong point I would think they would want to keep as many as they could...
An example of the rants you will see from a lot here. Don't be put off as these problems are generally user specific, and these same old comments come out after the release of every OSX I can remember. When Lion is upgraded to the next OSX you can gaurentee these forums will be full of people screaming about how great Lion was. Happened with Tiger, Leopard and Snow Leopard.
So come to think of it you may be better off Googling sites that give you unbiased views on Lion, rather than expect any positive comments here. For every one complaint there are probably 100,000 people with no issues.
