OWC and Crucial are the best sources for Mac compatible RAM. Process are on their web sites.
RAM can be user installed. Look for installation videos on the OWC web site.
Note that retina MBPs cannot have RAM upgraded.

yes you can do it and not void the warranty. Those are the only hardware changes that Apple permits. Instructions on how to upgrade the ram and remove and replace the hard drive are even included in the owners manuals for MacBook Pros.

This is one instance where you'll curse yourself for not having bought the AppleCare Warranty extension and gotten the board for free.
Anyway, get your model number handy and go look up the parts in www.powerbookmedic.com or www.ifixit.com amongst other places. They've also have videos or photo pictorials on how to do the replacement. Not altogether trivial, be sure to spread the adequate amount of thermal paste on the CPU and GPU, else you'll fry the new board in short order again.

If it's the localised plug part that is broken you don't need to exactly replace it but in its stead use a standard C8 (figure 8) power cord. If you don't have one spare you can always get a really cheap one from most stores that carry electrical cables such as Radio Shack, Walmart etc etc.

I have an eMac which shows the date and time as random figures, suggesting that the internal battery is dead. Where can I buy a replacement? My local Apple reseller does not stock them.

You may be able to find a battery seller locally, The PRAM battery is not limited to computer use. That model is also used in alarm systems. Look for a "1/2 AA 3.6V lithium" battery--that's about as generic description as one can give.

Look at the last line. There is a long list of manufacturers' battery numbers that are 1/2AA 3.6V. As long as you find one that's lithium (haven't seen any that aren't) you should be good to go.

Installed 512mb RAM Memory and reads Empty!!!

Please help i just installed a 512mb Ram Memory chip into DIMM1 and it is reading under system profiler MEMORY as Empty and if you click DIAGNOSTICS under system profiler it says "Power On Self-Test: Last Run:2/2/07 7:52 AM

You might try taking the 512meg stick out and reseating it. Make sure it's all the way in.

Not enough Ram memory and cannot save due to a program error in photoshop cs6

Hi, I'm currently a beginner at photoshop cs6, and I've been using it since december last year, mostly to draw stuff and it has worked fine with few to no errors at all.
However, recently when I've been drawing, the same message keeps popping up over and over again "Can't use (tool) due to the computer not having enough ram" followed by either "cannot save due to program error" or, it just simply crashes.
This is obviously a something that worries me A LOT since at first, I thought that it was just a small error, but recently, it's been like this for several day s and I've been forced to re-start the computer (and photoshop) countless times... It really slows down my working progress and is VERY annoying to deal with.
As a beginner though, I don't really know how to fix this. I've been trying to look up some answers on this site, but I've just not found any answer yet...
I'm currently using photoshop cs6 that's up to date and I've got lots of memory left on my computer, so, I'm wondering. What exactly is the cause of this problem, and how can I fix it? Please answer as fast as you can.. I'm getting a bit desperate...
Oh, in case you're wondering, they're all saved as PSD files and every single one of them has about 15+ layers on them.

It would help if you could list a few things:
1. Your operating system
2. How much physical RAM do you actually have in your machine?
3. Under Preferences > Performance, have you allocated "Scratch Disk(s)"?
4. Also under Preferences > Performance > Memory Usage, what is the "Ideal Range" listed there, and what % is "Let Photoshop Use"?

How much RAM can upgrade my Powerbook G4 with and where can I buy it?

I would like to increase the speed/processing power of my Powerbook G4. Any advice on the following appreciated:
1) What is the max RAM I can put into it? There seem to be problems logged on this discussion forum at 2GB by some users?
2) Where can I buy compatible RAM - it is no longer available on the Apple store (neither UK where I live nor US)?
3) are there any other upgrades I can make to speed up my Powerbook?

Hi, Mark. Your Powerbook can use up to 2GB of RAM, and there is no increased risk of trouble when using the maximum as long as the RAM used is suitable. Suitable RAM can be ordered from scores of online vendors. I don't know what the best sources in the UK might be, but I suggest that you look for Samsung, Crucial, or Hynix branded RAM from a vendor whose web site explicitly advertises it as compatible with Aluminum Powerbook G4s.

Satellite P500 - Where can I buy it?

So after some searching around I actually decided to buy an satellite p500 instead of a macbook pro. however im starting to question that choice..
First I went to Toshiba.com and customized the p500 to meet my needs, then I found out that only residence from US can order apparently.
So then I just go to the Norwegian Toshiba site expecting to find the same options there, but no. I'm not able to customize the product and im not able to order it from Toshiba. No either. Buying the p500 from an Norwegian retailer is not an option (no i7, SSD, 8GB RAM etc)
I can add that I've been searching for a way to contact Toshiba support on mail without an order number without luck.
And Ive not been able to get through on phone support either. (please use this post as an example in the next support team meting)
Anyway can someone please let me know how/where I can buy the p500 customized and I'll tell you why the Toshiba sales aren't going so well ;)
All joke aside, I really wanna buy it and it shouldn't be this hard.
So please help me figuring out a way to buy your product Toshiba :)

I think the hardware specification of Satellite P500 and other notebooks are also depending on the country I think.
I dont know what P500 you exactly want but you can also order it from online shops. If you search with Google for this model you should find enough online shops. Furthermore here I can already read some threads about P500 so its already available.
Furthermore its not known to me that you can buy notebooks from Toshiba directly and you cant contact them. You should look for an authorized service provider in your country, there you can also get Toshiba notebooks and they repair it for you (if its necessary).
