Do you have one, two or more entries in the left colum of Mail.app for your mail server(s)? That is, do you have your Mail.app set up with either a btinternet entry, with a btyahoo entry, or both? Or more?
I'm guessing that you might have one account (btyahoo?) listed for incoming (IMAP server) mail, and with the outbound (SMTP server) mail is configured and named btinternet.
Based on what little I see posted, it looks like BT uses both btinternet and btyahoo, but I'm not exactly clear on how they have their stuff set up, and their web set gets helpful and tries to help configure my mail — I don't immediately see a single web page with the mail server set-up details. You really should be doing backups with an actual backup application, especially one that will work automatically, and, if your external HD is large enough, back up your entire system. These can automatically back up only what's changed since the previous backup, and some will keep "archive" copies of things you've changed or deleted, also.
Too many things can go wrong, such as your internal HD failing, and you'll have a major project to reinstall everything.
You already have Time Machine, built-in to OSX. You might want to review the Time Machine Tutorial, and perhaps browse Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.

I would like to sync Notes between my MacBook Air and the IPhone and/or IPad. I used to tick a box in Itunes (info), but for some reason it is no longer there. How do I go about doing the sync?
The only way to sync Notes is through a mail server. If you don't want to use iCloud, you'll have to use some other mail account, or run your own mail server under OS X Server. The latter is a job for advanced users only.

For some reason this stopped working on firefox a week or so ago. I have tried to uninstall and install firefox again but the problem still persists. I've tried both chrome and explorer and they don't seem to have this problem.

I'd try starting Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If you don't have the issue while all of your add-ons, extensions, and themes are disabled, you can try adding them back in one by one until you find the culprit. hello, I am running windows xp Ijust bought a HP Officejet 4500 G510n All-in-one series printer and I can not get it hooked up with my wireless network It is telling me that my IP 169.254.162.171 which is not compatiable with the IP address 74.75.18.116 of the PC I don't no how to change these things. It sounds like the printer is not on the network since it has an address of 169.254.X.X which is a place holder in the printer.
What brand and model is the router?
Perform these steps on the printer:
Press the Setup button ( ) on the product control panel.
Press the Arrow buttons ( ) to highlight Wireless Menu , and then press OK .
Press the Arrow buttons ( ) to highlight Setup Wizard , and then press OK .
The Wireless Setup Wizard searches for networks, and then displays them in a list.
Press the Arrow buttons ( ) to highlight the network name (SSID) that you gathered in the previous step, and then press OK .
If prompted, enter the WPA or WEP key:
Use the alphanumeric keypad on the product control panel to enter the passphrase.
NOTE:Make sure that you enter the uppercase (capital) and lowercase (small) letters exactly. Otherwise, the wireless connection fails.
When you finish entering the passphrase, press OK .
This should connect the printer to a standard wireless network that is using WEP or WPA. I recommend using WPA over WEP as it is more secure, but this is set in the router.

I had already tried a reinstall before, but thanks for the suggestion. Starting FF in Safe mode did not help either.
XULRunner is specific to FF. Mostly found discussion about using the code in web pages when I used Google before posting.
When FF went from version 3.6.14 to version 3.6.15 this issue started. Please note the Error message and the version info I just mentioned.

Avast sandbox is up to date and works just fine with everything else. More importantly it worked just before the update was installed.
The only reason I bothered with the update is because Mozilla touted it as a security issue and there was NO mention of any known issues with sandbox software. -

Without getting into splitting hairs, no, not necessarily. For instance, a ruling from the Canada Revenue Agency about how a software sale would have to be accounted for buy Apple and how it would affect corporate taxes would not be an explicit law and would explain why no one can provide a pointer to such a law since such a ruling would likely be an internal procedural matter and hence not published in any easily-accessible venue. That's sort of what little information has come out is pointing to, but again I don't know for sure.. Apple clearly feels they have reasons for the policy, though; if it were just being difficult, they'd have the same policy everywhere, so something in Canadian law, tax regulations, etc. is driving it. But to us end users, the reason really doesn't matter.
They could at least they refund the money for customers who were expecting to buy apps..
I would agree that if the restriction isn't printed on the gift card itself or otherwise made clear at the point of purchase, a refund would be in order. But Apple doesn't ask my opinion, and since they put the restriction in the iTunes Store terms of sale (to which we all technically agree when we create our accounts, though few people ever read the agreement), I think such a refund is highly unlikely. -
I jus got a MacBook pro and Im having trouble connecting to my schools network. It is not secured and only requires to login with school id. A Window pops up to sign in but it never loads anyone know why I'm having this problem? Doesn't have a problem connecting to any other wifi

Nonsense, no problems logging in at sites that you mention. I use OpenDNS servers. For the OP try:
System Preferences>Network>Advanced>DNS. In the left side column click on the + sign and insert the following:

208.67.220.220
Then click OK, then click Apply. -
I bought an iTunes gift card to purchase certain things in my favorite app. Well when I try to buy things inside the game it does not give me the option to approve the purchase and it never shows up. I have reset the app, I have deleted the app and downloaded again, I have turned my ipod off and on, I have made sure all updates are up to date and nothing has changed. I saw a similar question like mine and the answer was that you have to have a credit card linked to your iTunes account to make in app purchases and I was thinking they were right until I talked to a few friends who cancelled their credit cards and took them off of the account and can still make in app purchases so that can't be the issues. Can someone please help me this is driving me crazy I have talked to iTunes support but they weren't much support.

I try to open up a texting app, and now, it won't lock, exit out (or crash suprisingly), multitask, or even power off. I also had auto lock set to two minutes and it has been about a full hour and it has never locked. If there is someone out there who has the same problem as me, and knows how to fix it, PLEASE TELL ME!!! I have a lot of texts that need to be answered... So I just changed from an iphone4S to an iphone 5 because my screen didn't work any longer on the 4s but the phone itself still works so I managed to get all my contacts etc BUT for some reason I can't transfer all my music across to itunes and therefore I can't get it onto my new phone, it only transfers about 50% of it.
Then when i go into music on the iphone 5 it shows the music but won't let you play anything and just flicks through all the songs without playing anything.
Can anyone help please?

Anybody can access the App Store - even without an Apple ID.
What are you saying? You cannot access your purchased apps with your new ID? If you are, that is the way that it works. If you set up a new Apple ID - you can't update the apps that you bought with the old ID. You have to continue to update the purchased apps with the old ID and password since purchases are always tied to the ID that made the purchases.
If you need to sign into your new ID you can do that in Settings>iTunes and App Stores>Apple ID. Tap th old ID and sign out then sign in with the new one.
