HT1277 I can't remember my password. What do I do?

I am trying to set up my work email in my mail program on my new macbook air, but I can't remember the password I used on this mailbox. What do I do to show or reset my mail password?

You might be able to look up the password in an existing mail client (do you have one that's already using the mailbox? If you do, that client likely has the password (somewhere) that can be retrieved), or you can get in contact with the folks that manage the mail server at your work, and ask them to reset it.

If you cannot reset your Apple ID password via security questions, you can reset via email authentication. If you are not receiving the email, it may be necessary to contact Apple Support using the link in the Get help section toward the bottom of the article.

I've the identical problem; I do believe it's asking for the encryption password, though in my case, could not recall encrypting the backup and I haven't entered it in Splash ID. I ended up using an external program to decrypt the password – "iPhone Backup Unlocker".
It worked like a charm. I only downloaded its standard version. With that it gave me the first three letters and the rest were blocked out with ***. The result is just as 123***. This however was enough for me to recall the password.

You mean the password because you encrypted your backups or your wifi password? If encrypted backups, I think you are really really out of luck but hope others can help. It is my understanding that without that password, there is nothing you can do with your backups or even access them from another computer, that's the purpose of encrypting them.

HT204053 How do I delete an apple Id account that I can't remember the password to get into

I cannot get into my apple id account/ iCloud because I can't remember my password or the security questions so I created a new account but can't get the old one deleted and I am trying to down load apps on my phone but can't because I need to delete my old apple I'd account.

To change the ID for:
iMessage, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive (Receive At in iOS 5), tap the ID sign out, sign back in using the other ID.
FaceTime, do the same thing in Settings>FaceTime.
Purchasing, do this in Settings>iTunes & App Stores (Settings>Store in iOS 5).
iCloud, you'll have to delete the account, create a new account with the other ID, and migrate your data to the new account. Before deleting the account, if you have any photos in photo stream that are not in your camera roll or backed up somewhere else save these to your camera roll or you will lose them. To do this, open the photo stream album, tap Edit, tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll. Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My iPhone. Next, set up a new iCloud account using your new ID, then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge. This will upload the data to the new account.
