I have hotmail account satted up on my app mail app. and cant read my mails. inbox and other folders established in windows live doese not appear in my apple mail application

Yes this is exactly how I set up my account in apple mail, The situation exactly is as follows:
I cant see my inbox and other folders including its contents for which have been created in windows live.
I can send e-mails form my Hotmail account using apple mail.
I cant receive mails to my Hotmail account using my apple mail.
I have three more mails working perfectly in apple mail. one of them is windows live mail.
Have contacted Hotmail support and they trouble shoot my account no problem as they recommend to contact apple mail support for that purpose.
Please support if facing this before.

I am having problems importing messages from my WIndows Live Mail to my Thunderbird. The instructions say go to "Tools ImportExport | Import all messages from a directory | Also from its subdirectories." However in my Thunderbird l have tools, import and then it takes me to a wizard which says "This wizard will help import messages....." and when l select 'mail' as the type l wish to import it asks for a type of mail l want to import. Importing messages from a separate account in Mail

I've just got a new Mac and am using Mail for email. My ISP is BT therefore before getting the Mac I used a BT Yahoo email account.
I (think!) I set up Mail to sync with this BT Yahoo account. However, I cannot see older emails that I received before I set up Mail. Instead I get a message saying that I need to take the account online in order to retrieve those messages. What is worse, those emails have disappeared from by BT Yahoo account!
Really basic question, I'm sure but any guidance would be much appreciated.

This is a POP account, right? POP accounts don’t “sync” with the server. Rather, they download your mail from the server and remove it from there afterwards according to your Preferences > Accounts > Advanced > Remove copy from server settings.
As to the “You need to take this account online in order to download it” error message, this is one of the many bogus error messages in Mail that usually have absolutely nothing to do with what the problem really is. Don’t try to make sense of it. What the error message really means in the case of Mail 2.x is that Mail cannot find the *.emlx file associated with the message where the index says it should be.
Now, could you please clarify under which circumstances have you started experiencing the “You need to take this account online in order to download it” issue? Has it been as a result of migrating to a new Mac? What was the version of Mac OS X running on the old Mac? Which mailboxes are affected by the problem?

Do you have a backup such as Time Machine? In your home folder, select Library/Mail, enter your backup, locate the account, control - click on it and restore it to your desktop. You can then import it into Mail.

After importing received and set messages from Opera Mail, Thunderbird works fine but does not save sent messages to Sent folder, even though messages are sent

I successfully imported messages from Opera Mail. Initially the Sent mailbox was not showing in Thunderbird. A quick removal and fresh installation solved that, but Thunderbird does not save the sent messages to the Sent box, where the imported Opera Mail messages are stored. Even though messages are not saved, they are sent correctly. The image attached shows the error message.

Probably a name-confuse If you store sent on mailserver it has to have the right name. (subscribe)
You could set up under Account settings / copies and folders (maps) Sent pointing to the right local folder.

Importing messages from Outlook Express on a PC to Mail

I just spent a long time looking through posts to find a way to do this, and still had difficulties, until finding this link:

Actually it is simpler than described on that link, presumably because it's a couple of years old and the software has improved.
All you need to do now is Copy-Paste all the emails from each OE folder into a new folder you create on your desktop (OE lets you do this. So you make an Inbox folder, Sent folder, etc). Copy those folders over from PC to Mac (eg using a Fat32 formatted external drive) , then drag & drop those files one folder at a time into a Subfolder that you create in Entourage. (ie you make a new Inbox, Sent etc subfolder) Then Mail will import these folders from Entourage by itself using Import.
You need to have Entourage (part of Office) to do this.

Since you have a new Mac, you can create a .Mac trial account for free which is good for 60 days I believe.
A .Mac type account with Apple's Mail application is really an IMAP account and behaves in the same way.
When creating a .Mac account with the Mail.app, the default account type provided is .Mac but you can also select IMAP or POP as the account type.
You can create a .Mac account as an IMAP or POP account with a different email client on a Mac or Windows PC.
After creating your .Mac trial account as a .Mac or IMAP account with Mail on your Mac, you can create the account as an IMAP account with Outlook Express on your Windows PC.
After doing so, copy messages from the POP account's Inbox mailbox to .Mac account's Inbox mailbox and the same for the POP account's Sent mailbox to your .Mac account's Sent mailbox.
Launch Mail on your Mac and these messages will be available in your .Mac account's Inbox mailbox and Sent mailbox.
Create two "On My Mac" location mailboxes in Mail - one for transferred Inbox messages and one for the transferred Sent messages.
Transfer these messages from your .Mac account's Inbox mailbox and Sent mailbox to the appropriate user created "On My Mac" mailboxes which are stored locally on the hard drive. This process will save the transferred messages locally on the hard drive and remove the messages from the server at the same time.
A .Mac trail account has limited server storage space so if the Inbox mailbox and Sent mailbox for this POP account in OE on your PC exceeds the server storage limit for a .Mac trail account, you must do this in stages and although this may sound involved, it really isn't and overall is probably the easiest and fastest way to do so.

Mail won't show messages from my .Mac account

I have set up 5 accounts in Mail. Two of these accounts are .Mac mail accounts and the other 3 are verizon accounts. When I receive an email in any account, the Mail icon bounces on my desktop and makes its alert sound. I can check the 5 inboxes and retrieve messages from the verizon accounts, but not the .Mac accounts. The .Mac inboxes will tell me how many messages I have in those accounts, but I cannot read them in Mail. I have to do go Mac.com to read these messages! The Mac accounts are enabled. All of the accounts were set up before the new Mail came out and Mail worked fine until then, but I have not been able to read my messages in Mail from the .Mac accounts since the new version of Mail. Is this a common problem and is there something I can do to fix my inability to read these messages in Mail?

Let’s check whether the rules could have a bearing on this:
1. Quit Mail.
2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/.
3. Locate MessageRules.plist and move it to the Desktop. If there is a file called MessageRules.plist.backup, move it to the Desktop too. You may also see MessageSorting.plist files there; this is where Mail 1.x stored the rules, and they are no longer used by Mail 2.x, so just move them to the Trash if you see them.
4. Open Mail. As a result of removing the rules file, the junk filter will be disabled now. You may want to either tell Mail to go offline immediately after opening it, or shut down the Internet connection before opening Mail, to prevent it from downloading anything until the junk mail filter has been enabled again.
5. Go to Mail > Preferences > Junk Mail, enable junk filtering, and configure it however you wish.
6. Go online again if you went offline in step 4.
If the problem persists after doing this, then you know the rules have no bearing on it, and you may move the files on the Desktop back to the ~/Library/Mail/ folder, overwriting any files Mail may have created anew there (quit Mail first).
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder.

Updated my iphone 3gs to the ios4.3.5. Now the mail application doesn't function properly. App doesn't sync mail from server - deleting mail hardly works now. When the phone downloads messages from the mail server, it bounces/flashes between accounts too

I recently upgraded to Lion and then updated my iphone to iOS 4.3.5. Now my mail app on the phone seems all messed up. When I check mail, it pulls down mail from the server but I have to go into each individual account to make that happen but even then the view automatically bounces from one mail account to another but never to the Microsoft Exchange server. It also doesn't let me delete mail

I have wasted much time trying different combinations to have push and gmail "send mail as". I guess I have tried so much because it seems like a no brainer.
If you set up as exchange you can at least add in the extra comma and address, but it disappears when you go to send an email.
very frustrating indeed. my solution is to use the gmail app for notifications of new email.

The short answer, for now, is you don't. It's increasingly clear that Microsoft does not want to extend this privilege to users of free HotMail accounts, not does it want to offer POP3 access to anyone other than paying HotMail Plus users at this point, and for the foreseeable future. And, IMAP: that's out of the question, apparently.
While the plugin idea is a nice one, the referenced open-source HTTPMail plug in is broken by Mac OS X 10.5, and nothing has been heard to date from the developer about an update to support Mail in Leopard.

Mac Mail deleted inbox messages from yahoo mail, how to get them back?

I recently started using the Mac Mail client with my yahoo-plus email account.
What Mac Mail did was delete ALL inbox messages from my yahoo account, after one week from importing them to Mac Mail.
The inbox messages can still be found in the Mac Mail inbox, but not in yahoo's inbox.
I was wondering if there is a way to retrieve these deleted messages back to my yahoo inbox.
Also, I was wondering about the sync feature on the Mac Mail and what will actually happen if I use it. Does it apply to mail messages, or to address book and calendar entries?
I would appreciate you help on this issue.

Not Really, you could forward them to your account, after you've told your mail program not to delete the emails at all, but they will show up as being from you instead of the original sender. The originals at Yahoo have been dumped and probably purged. It would take an IT manager at Yahoo to manually replace the emails, not much chance of that.
I've already asked yahoo to "restore" my inbox to a day ago. That should help me with retrieving some of the messages back, I hope.

The sync feature refers to IMAP email accounts like .Mac or .Me or an Imap gmail account. I didn't think Yahoo offered IMAP email accounts.
Apple's MobileMe membership will let you sync your Mail, AddressBook, Calender, personal website with iWeb, etc.
