HT1277 setting permanent fonts in mail

How can I make sure the font size comes up at size 14 everytime I use the email?

Mail.app > Mail > Preferences > Fonts & Colors > select your preferences
FWIW, remote mail clients that are explicitly using the plain-text versions won't honor the sender's HTML settings.  You can adjust your own settings, but the remote clients used by the recipients can choose to ignore or to override those settings.

I would not like to do this for each message individually, I'd like to have this default for all outgoing message. Can anyone tell me how to do this is Mail on OS X Lion

  • Is there a way to permanently set a font in pages?

The default font in pages is Helvetica.  Every time I start a new document, I have to change it to Times New Roman.  Is there a way to permanently set the font as Times New Roman so that I do not have to do it every time.  Thanks.

You need to create your own default template. Open the blank template & set up your document with the line spacing, margins, headers, etc. as you'd like. Redefine all of the paragraph & character styles to have your desired font. You can set default wrap for any object as well as many other settings. Insert a table, click in it & choose the font, size, color, etc. you want in the fonts panel or format bar. You can do similar changes to inserted objects & text boxes. While you're at it resize the box if you want, set the amount of extra space in the wrap inspector, etc. Delete each text box, object & table after you've set them.
Now, save this document as a template & select that template as default in preferences. If you decide to make any changes to the template down the road, just Save As Template again with the same name & replace the previous version. All of your new documents will have these settings for inserted objects, images & tables. Unfortunately, the settings won't apply to any other templates or "foreign" documents you open with Pages.

  • Setting font for mail preferences

anybody have this problem?? when i set lucida sans italic as my email font preference it won't italicize it. it will italicize in all areas of preference except when it comes to using it as a default font. i called support and they were stumped and suggested that i post here. help!!! :-):-)

yes, i want to see the message in that font and have the person on the other end view in that font also. you can change the message font in mail preferences. you select the font under message font and it will create all new mail messages in that font. what i find is that any font that will italicize won't do so when you create a new message. i have it set for comic sans right now and that works fine. go into mail preferences, choose message font, select lucida sans from the font list, then on the right select italics and then close and create a new message. the new message should have lucida sans italics as the message font. mine won't do that. you can select other fonts and it will work, but the italics part doesn't take........

  • How do I set the font in firefox 4.0 using ubuntu?

The zoom feature is OK but I want to permanently set the font size on my firefox pages using the Ubuntu operating system. I don't see anything under Tools and there doesn't seem to be a lot of questions previously asked in the Help area about Firefox in Ubuntu.

It's difficult to set a single font size without wrecking the display of most web sites. One alternative would be to store your preferred zoom level and apply that to all sites. This requires an add-on such as:
    * [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6965/ Default FullZoom Level]
    * [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2592/ NoSquint]
    Does that work for you?

The text editor is the text area that you use on the webmail (Yahoo, Hotmail) website to create a new mail.
You can compare that with the ''Post new message'' text area that you use to create a new post on this forum.
Just above the text area that you use to enter the message text there is usually a button bar with buttons that allows some text formatting like Bold and Italic and can also include a button to make a clickable hyperlink.
Check the tooltip of each button by hovering with the mouse over each button.

  • How do I change the font in mail permantly

I can change the font in mail but it isn't permanent.  I am talking about composing E-mail.

I have a work around you might try.
Add a signature to your email account with whatever font you want. Two steps...like this.
    1. Create a new email message:
    2. Add a new signature (Mail -> Preferences -> Signatures) and Paste Clip Board into the new Signature editor:
    That's All Folks!
Now, when you create new messages, you should find that the format you are looking for is already setup. All you have to do is tweak the Name,
    Hope this helps!

  • How to control fonts in Mail?

I have a persistent problem that I just cannot figure out. In mail prefs I set my font for the Mail message font to be Verdana 13 which is easier for me to read. Nonetheless, any time I click on the next line to type in, or click anywhere in the message, it ALWAYS outputs Verdana 12 and I have to manually change it. It looks like it is a bug but I am suspicious about coming to that conclusion as I may just be ignorant.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Richard

Regarding Mail, as already provided go to Mail > Preferences > Fonts & Colors.
You can change the Mailbox Font, Message List Font and Message Font.
The font and size that you select for the Message Font will be the font and size for received messages only when the sender of a message uses Plain Text for message composition. When a sender uses HTML for message composition, the sender controls the formatting. With such a received message open, at the menu bar go to View > Message and select Plain Text Alternative and the received message font will be changed to your chosen font for messages.
The message font selection will also be the font used when composing a message. RTF with Tiger Mail is really HTML but in order to implement HTML for message composition requires selecting a font via the font panel when composing a message or change the font size, color or add bold or italics for selected text, etc.
I don't believe you can change the font for Address Book. You can only change the font size choosing between Regular, Large or Extra Large.
The same for iTunes. You can select between Small or Large for Source Text and Song text.

  • Microscopic fonts in Mail

    Hi all,
I have a 15" MBP i7, hi-res, non-glare screen and -- yes -- the fonts, etc., are REALLY small on, for example, Mail. Is there any way to set a default for VIEWING a larger size -- not SENDING a larger size font?
Same issue with web pages, etc,. but it's most noticeable on Mail, where the viewed fonts are literally about 1/32" tall.
    Thanks!

Hi - for some reason (only on the HiRes versions of the MacBook PRO) - the screen font is so tiny I can barley read it.. It is set at 12 point Helvetica which is perfect on my Mac Mini and other non-HiRes MacBook Pro... So I have to increase the font size to 16 point to type a message and then reduce it to 12 point again before sending it... I can't send my clients E-Mail messages in 16 point.. it looks terrible..
If I do as you say and change the message font in preferences to 16 point - that surely means the message is received in 16 point???
I'm trying to make the HiRes screen font in Mail look bigger (so I can read what I type) BUT not the font size in the message..
Does that make sense? It seems to be a problem related to the HiRes versions of the MacBook Pro...
Any help or tips greatly appreciated..

  • How do I insert a font in Mail which is not in the Pref. scroll-down menu?

How do I insert a font in Mail which is not in the Pref. scroll-down menu?
I love Palatino, I have it bot in the System fonts folder, in the home/library/fonts folder and in the computer/library/fonts folder.
Yet, It does not come out.
Something else I should be doing?

Keep in mind that if the recipient of the email doesn't have Palantino active on their computer, they're not going to see that font on their end. Their system will replace any instance of Palantino with whatever font is they have set as the default in their mail program.

  • Zombie font in mail composing window!

I have repeatedly set my default in mail messages to be verdana instead of helvetica. Nonetheless, if I am replying to a message and click an empty line below the entered text, there is comes! Like the zombie crawling up out of it grave, back comes the other font. How can it be when I specify another font for my messages that this persists. Is it a bug? (or zombie bug?).
    Any ideas appreciated.
    Richard

Sorry I have not made this more clear. I am not referring to the font that the receiver sees, but the font that I see when composing an email. I set it to Verdana 13 and when I open a new email to compose/send or when I reply and start typing then it is indeed this font. However as I go along with typing and click below a paragraph to start a new line, then the font reverts back to (I assume) Helvetica 12.
So my confusion is why it would do that. Obviously it is set to Verdana because that is what comes up with I start a reply so why would it revert to another font midway? A puzzle to me.

  • Need help on setting large fonts on iphone 3g s

I have looked at the new iphone 3g s, and think I would like it very muuch. However, since I am somewhat visually impaired, I need large fonts on ALL categories on the phone, e-mail, contacts, notes, etc.
I have looked at the phone at my local Apple store, but cannot find a way for the fonts to become larger. I go to settings, set the font to GIANT, but then NOTHING changes when I then go back to contacts.
I have tried the Zoom program, but that seems too complicated. I currently own a Kindle, and I love it because I merely hit one button, and I have the availability of 6 DIFFERENT FONT SIZES. Why isn't this type of software available for the iphone?
I want to buy the iphone, but cannot unless I can read all data on the phone easily. ANY HELP OUT THERE IS APPRECIATED.
    Dan

Copied from this link regarding the Zoom option.
    http://www.apple.com/iphone/how-to/#accessibility.zoom
Many iPhone applications let you zoom in and out specific elements. For example, you can double-tap or use the pinch gesture to expand webpage columns in Safari. Zoom is a special accessibility feature that lets you magnify the entire screen of any application you’re using to help you see what’s on the display.
If the Zoom feature seems to complicated for you, then you don't have any other option with the iPhone. More than likely it would not seem so complicated to you after using it for several days or for a week or two. The iPhone can be returned for payment credit within 30 days after the purchased date, less a 10% restocking fee. And the AT&T contract can be cancelled within the same 30 days with no penalty.
