Hi, I have private emails in IPAD2, i have chaged the incoming mail server name and saved the change.
but, when I back to read my old emails in inbox it's gone away, I have backed to setting and return the previous
incoming mail name, but also I did't get the old emails. where I can find the old emails in my IPAD2 ?

It is only the link to your emails which are 'stored' on your iPad. You will have to enter all proper email addresses to get the message associated with them, which, in practice,  means multiple accounts. If all still does not work try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release].

  • HT201320 what is the incoming mail server host name and user names

    Hi there,
I am trying to add my school email account to my phone and I am able to fill in the
    Name
    Email
    and Description
but am not sure what I am supposed to fill out in the Incoming Mail Server spots:
    Host Name
    User Name
and the password is already filled in?
and Im not sure what the Outgoing Mail Server is either.

You'll have to ask someone at your school what the incoming server settings are for their email.  These differ for every email provider/account.

  • What is the incoming mail server for icloud?

All of a sudden I can not receive my icloud mail on my iMac.
I get it on my iPhone & my iPad.
I need to know what the incoming mail server setting should be.
    Can any one help?
    Thanks,

On the Mac, open  > About this Mac, and tell us what OS X version you have.
If it's 10.6, modify your iCloud account in Mail manually and use "imap.mail.me.com", without quotes, as your incoming mail server.
If it's 10.7 or 10.8, close Mail, open System Preferences > iCloud, and unmark Mail. Then, mark Mail and open Mail

  • HT5361 What is the incoming mail server when setting up a apple email address?

When setting up a new email account the field for the incoming mail server is greyed out.  How do I add the info?

It should load that automatically. It varies.
It will be some variant of imap.mail.me.com. That may get it to look up the correct one.

  • TS4002 I cannot edit my incoming mail server name under iCloud

This morning my iCloud email stopped working. When I open the Mail preferences panel and look at the iCloud account, the Incoming Mail Server is listed as "mail.example.com" and is greyed out. I cannot edit this entry to the proper iCloud server name. I can edit my user name and password, but when I try to save changes it tells me that I cannot leave the Incoming Mail Server name blank. Which wouldn't be a problem if I could, you know, change it.
This just started this morning. I noticed that Mail was asking me for passwords that have been in my Keychain for ages, and I had to manually enter them all to get to my email.
My account is working on my iOS devices.
    Tom

Looked around on other threads on Apple Support and found a solution that worked for me.
        - Delete your iCloud account in Mail Preferences, Account tab.
         - Click "+" to add an account
         - Fill in your iCloud name-address-password, then hold Option key down, then click 'Continue'. Holding Option down takes you to a screen you normally don't see!
         - Change the incoming Mail Server from 'mail.me.com' to 'imap.mail.me.com'
         - Proceed creating your account.
    Try!

  • What do i put in the Incoming Mail Server...?

I have Road Runner and I dont know what to put in the Incoming Mail Server box...any ideas...?

Contact RoadRunner or check it's help web site for the server addresses. There should be a POP server and an SMTP server for POP mail. For IMAP mail (I don't know if they support this format) there will be an incoming mail and outgoing mail server (the outgoing mail server is usually the same as the SMTP server.)

  • TS4002 In my SMTP server settings, the incoming mail server window is dim and inactive, is this why I'm not receiving mail? What can I do to fix?

Can't receive any mail, I've been using this email address for years. Did a shut down and restart. Went into mail preferences and noticed that the incoming mail server window is dim and inactive. What's going on??

Thanks I think that's the solution.  But I've always thought it should just come as an SMS

When trying to update my Mail Account Mailbox Behaviours settings, after making the changes when I try to close the settings pane the following messages occur: Invalid Incoming Mail Server The “Incoming Mail Server” field cannot be empty. The incoming mail server box has in light grey colour: p02-imap.mail.me.com in it and I cannot edit its content. Any ideas what is going on and how to fix it?

    Hi all,
Mattreichenbach is probably on the right track here with a reset of settings.  I think I've determined the issue has to do with cached account information and inconsistencies for the account name.  This seems to crop up when I've changed my password and it hasn't propagated fully to all the servers, devices, certificates, etc.
Hopefully many here are on their way to restoration of service by now but it's clear that a lot of people are having the same issues.  Very frustrating and definitely something Apple needs to resolve:  incoming mail server field grayed out, incorrect autopopulation of different fields, other unanticipated behaviors.  If you're still having issues, though, here's what worked for me...
First, head to the iCloud preferences pane in System Configuration and choose "Sign Out".  When I did this it prompted me with a number of "are you sure" type questions about retaining information on my local machine.  I chose to delete/remove the info each time simply because it should all be restored by the cloud and I didn't want to risk a massive duplication of my data... I will say, I'm back up and running with no issues so I suspect you can make the same delete/remove choices...  But use your own judgment.  I don't want you to lose any data (ie.. please use care as you do this because I cannot bear the thought of causing anyone to experience the pain of data loss).
Once you've signed out of iCloud, restart your system.  When you get back in, head to the Mail, Contacts and Calendars section of your System Preferences and add your account back by choosing the brushed aluminum "iCloud" button.  When it asks for your account name, use your @iCloud.com email address.  I am all but certain my issue had started because one of my devices (iPhone or whatever) had been set up with an email alias specified instead of my @iCloud.com address.
Apple, if you're reading through any of these issues (there are TONS of users having this same problem).  Take note, that your icloud service somewhat frequently is not responding and yet tells the user that the password is wrong and this prompts people to be changing their passwords unnecessarily.  This has happened to me on numerous occasions.  Also, I noticed that last week's outage corresponded to a VERY similar outage exactly one year ago to the day.  Sounds like planned maintenance to me and I think you could do a better job notifying folks so we're not wasting HUGE amounts of time troubleshooting a problem that we have no hope of fixing.
Hope that helps some of you!

  • HT2480 In the server domain; Do I use the smtp server OR the incoming mail server?

I am trying to verify my business mail on my iphone and I have several troubles thus I would like to ask for you help:
    1) its a "webmail.ath.hcmr.gr" mail, so it is a "Microsoft Exchange" mail type? Correct?
    2) in the server field: what do i add? The incoming mail server or the smtp server?
    Thanks

    Hey Butterworth,
You may need to use the information in this article to help you troubleshoot the issue with your outgoing server:

  • HT4864 the incoming mail server field is blank and will not let me type in the information. I can type in other fields but this blank field will not allow it.

In account information the incoming mail server field is blank but when I try to type it in it does not allow me to.
    Whats do I do?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
You do not need to start adding manual information into your iCloud account settings. If you feel the settings are incorrect for any reason, you should delete your account and add it back and let it set itself up.

  • The incoming mail server box on my iMac is blank so unable to get mail and UNABLE to trype the mail server into the box it refuses to accept anything in itplease help

Im having lots of bother with my Mac Mail I cant recieve or send it . On checking I noticed the incoming mail server box in my Account is blank and it refuses to let me type anything in it so stays blank .  what can i do? help please.

Could I ask you to amend your signature - you can see why it's a good idea.
The first step for you would be to sign out in System Preferences>iCloud then sign back in again, enabling Mail and any other data types in the checklist there. This should set up Mail automatically for you - you shouldn't need to enter any settings yourself.
Your data will disappear from your Mac when you sign out, but will reappear when you sign back in.

  • HT4864 How do I directly change the incoming mail server for icloud in Mail?  It's grayed out.

How do I directly change the incoming mail server for icloud in Mail?  It's grayed out.
I ask this because I have suddenly stopped receiving most e-mails in Mail.  I've found that my incoming mail server (p01-imap.mail.me.com) is different from what the Apple mail setup assistant recommends (mail.me.com), but I cannot change it because it is grayed out.  Any ideas?

I'm afraid that AFAIK you've gone through the card. You could try Support, though I don't know how helpful they are likely to be.
To contact  iCloud Support: if you currently happen to have AppleCare, either because you recently bought Apple hardware or have paid to extend the inititial period, you can contact them here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/
You will need the serial number of the covered hardware.
If you are not covered by AppleCare, then - in common with other free email services - there is no free support and you may be asked to pay a fee.
