My Mom was recently diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) and has lost her voice. She has been using my sisters iPad to communicate. And I want to thank Apple for creating such a great device, but I want to know if anyone out there has had any experience or knows of any ALS patients who have used an iPad for primary communication. You might start with contacing any local or national ALS support organizations. I would think they would be a better source of specific use information that this forum. A response here is likely to be more hit and miss than anything else.

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post. (Although the procedure is for Vista and 7 and you've got XP, just read "Computer" as "My Computer", read "Uninstall a program control panel" as "Add or Remove programs control panel" and assume the system is 32-bit, and you'll be doing the right things.)

Restore the phone using iTunes. First time restore your backup. If the problem is not fixed restore again, and this time set up as New.

It is the same version. So the iWork package will work on both, but Siri will only work on the iPhone 4S. So you could dictate on that, and use iCloud to finish the document on your iPad (assuming you have both). Cheers

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
