How can I sync my music from my Ipod to my computer

iTunes sync is one way from your computer to your iOS device.
You will need a third party software such as TouchCopy to do that.
Do you still have access to your old computer with your iTunes library?

  • How can i sync my music from my iPod into a new computer because my old one is dead

I bought the macbook air and want to sync my music from my ipod into itunes. Of course its not letting me because it says if I want to sync it will erase everything. Is there anything I can do so I could keep all my music and still sync? I no longer have access to my old computer because it completely died on me.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion.  Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to do this, not good, then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod: File>Devices>Transfer Purchases

  • HT1689 the computer I orginally sync"ed" to broke.  The new computer only has about a dozen songs.  How can I downdload my music from the Ipod to the computer?

the computer I orginally syncd to broke.  The new computer only has about a dozen songs that were purchased from itunes.  Is there any way
I can get the thousands of other songs from the ipod downloaded to the computer.

    - Connect the iPod to the computer and transfer iTunes purchases:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
    Copy music
    - Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup
Note that the iPod backup that iTunes makes does not included synced media like apps and music.

  • How can I put my music from my ipod to my computer with out losing it all

I just got a new computer and I need to transerfer my music from my ipod to my new computer, but when i tried it almost deleted all my music. I'm not a technological person and I dont have anything to back my ipod up on if I lose all my music. Does anybody know how to do it with the new update??

The ipod is not a backup/storage device.
It simply mirrors the selecte content of the computer to which it is synced. The sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The only exception is itunes purchases:  File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
You need to copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.

    same question!

Have you not got a backup of your content that you can copy onto the other computer and then load into iTunes ? If not then see if any of the utilities mentioned in this 18 month old post still exist and work : https://discussions.apple.com/message/11014893?messageID=11014893#11014893

One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola and iDump andiPodRobot.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

    Syncing with iTunes
Syncing with iTunes copies information from your computer to iPhone, and vice versa. You can
sync by connecting iPhone to your computer, or you can set up iTunes to sync wirelessly with
Wi-Fi. You can set iTunes to sync music, photos, videos, podcasts, apps, and more. For information
about syncing iPhone with your computer, open iTunes, then choose iTunes Help from the
    Help menu.
Set up wireless iTunes syncing: Connect iPhone to your computer. In iTunes on the computer,
select your iPhone (under Devices), click Summary, then turn on “Sync over Wi-Fi connection.”
When Wi-Fi syncing is turned on, iPhone syncs every day. iPhone must be connected to a power
source, iPhone and your computer must both be on the same wireless network, and iTunes must
be open on your computer. For more information, see iTunes Wi-Fi Sync on page 136.
    Tips for syncing with iTunes
    • If you use iCloud to store your contacts, calendars, bookmarks, and notes, don’t also sync them
    to your device using iTunes.
    • Purchases you make from the iTunes Store or the App Store on iPhone are synced back to your
iTunes library. You can also purchase or download content and apps from the iTunes Store on
your computer, and then sync them to iPhone.
    • In the device’s Summary pane, you can set iTunes to automatically sync when your device is
attached to your computer. To temporarily override this setting, hold down Command and
Option (Mac) or Shift and Control (PC) until you see iPhone appear in the sidebar.
    • In the device’s Summary pane, select “Encrypt iPhone backup” if you want to encrypt the
information stored on your computer when iTunes makes a backup. Encrypted backups are
indicated by a lock icon  , and a separate password is required to restore the backup. If you
don’t select this option, other passwords (such as those for mail accounts) aren’t included in
the backup and will have to be reentered if you use the backup to restore the device.
    • In the device’s Info pane, when you sync mail accounts, only the settings are transferred from
your computer to iPhone. Changes you make to an email account on iPhone don’t affect the
    account on your computer.
    • In the device’s Info pane, click Advanced to select options to let you replace the information on
iPhone with the information from your computer during the next sync.
    • If you listen to part of a podcast or audiobook, the place you left off is included if you sync
the content with iTunes. If you started listening on iPhone, you can pick up where you left off
using iTunes on your computer—or vice versa.
    • In the device’s Photo pane, you can sync photos and videos from a folder on your computer.

how can i pass the music from my ipod touch to my mac

If the music on the iPod was purchased through iTunes you can try Transfer Purchases.
Connect the iPod to the Mac and launch iTunes. Right click on the iPod name on the left side of the iTunes window under the devices heading and select Transfer Purchases. That should transfer the music into the iTunes library on the Mac.

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping.  Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
Would you mind telling me which anti-virus package you use? It may be that it is disturbing iTunes when it tries to write out the fresh database, as it does after almost any activity with your library. I'm noticing more of this type of problem than usual and trying to see if there is any pattern. It may help to prevent a repeat of the problem if you look at the advanced options for your AV package and see if you can find a way to exclude the iTunes folder from any real-time scanning process.

I have a new pc windows 7 and when i plug in my ipod it says it must erase all the data to sync.  How do i get the music from my ipod to my new computer.  The old computer is trashed and files are not available, songs are only on ipod.

One of the reasons why including your iTunes library with your computer's backup is a good idea. Use this link for future reference in this regard.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1751
iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iPod, iPad, and iPhone, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only.
First you need to authorize your new computer with your iTunes account with iTunes if you haven't already done so.
With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
