  • ITunes: trouble opening/using

iTunes is suddenly giving me trouble when I attempt to open/use it. When I try to open iTunes a window pops up that says:
"QuickTime Handler Window: iTunes.exe - No Disk"
"There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive \Device\Harddisk4\DR6"
There are three options in this dialog box -
    "Cancel" "Try Again" "Continue"
I have tried putting my iTunes installer disk in and hitting "Try Again" but nothing happens.
If I hit "Cancel" iTunes will open but then I can't actually use the program.
I try to play a song and I get this message:
    "iTunes: iTunes.exe - No Disk"
"There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive \Device\Harddisk4\DR6"
I don't know what disk it's asking for and I don't know what the \Device\Harddisk4\DR6 refers to.
Would really love some help as AplCare and the Genius Bar haven't offered me any.
    Thanks so much!

did you try to re-install it...maybe there was a problem in the installation..

  • New itunes, trouble with syncing

My itunes was recently removed from my computer, and im having a little bit of trouble with it. is it possible to put the music from my ipod to my itunes? because its not letting me.

Kim, sorry, but I couldn't get what you are trying to do.
    iTunes jargon
RESTORE - to erase all data, ie music, address, video etc in the connected iPod and populate them with factory settings.
Why do we need to do this? When the iPod hardisk filesystem is corrupted and the iTunes cant map the iPod hardisk file structure, to add new data, music, videos etc.
SYNC - The process, where iTunes overrides all data, music, videos in the iPod, with the iTunes Library. So if the iTunes library in your PC is blank, then iTunes will erase your iPod, till blank.
iTunes Library - the folder in your PC/MAC that contains all your data/music/video etc. The iTunes does not treat the iPod as a store, but rather as huge landfill, so you need 3rd party software to recover any data from the iPod back to the PC/MAC.

  • Installing itunes troubles

I am having trouble installing itunes.  I'm not getting any error messages, once I click download it goes straight to the thank you for downloading itunes page.  I am assuming that I've missed some files somewhere with the uninstalling.  The window installer cleanup didn't help.  Any suggestions?

I'm not getting any error messages, once I click download it goes straight to the thank you for downloading itunes page.
I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

  • HT1296 itunes no longer sees my i phone 4s? the computer sees it as a device with memory, how can i fix/change this?

Itunes no longer sees my iphone 4s as a device? What can i do?

    Just to clarify:
Does Aperture not see the drive at all (that is, does Aperture also not see the drive in the import and export dialogue) or are only the Master Files disconnected?
If Aperture does not recognize the drive at all, check the permission settings of the drive in the "Get Info" panel and make sure you have read/write access, also the "Ignore ownership on this volumn" checkmark, this should be set.
If correcting the permissions does not help, make sure you have a backup, and then use "Disk Utility" to run a check and to repair the volumn, if necessary.
If Aperture can see the drive on import and export, but only does not see the master image files, then try to reconnect your masters.
Create a smart album or use a Search with the rule: "File status: offline", to select all images that need reconnecting to their masters.
Right click on the first image of the selection.
From the Pop-up window select "Locate referenced Files..."
Now the "Reconnect All" button should appear.
    Click it.

  • URGENT! PLEASE RESPOND! Ipod/Itunes trouble.

Please be patient while I try to explain all that's happening.
Sorry if it's a little long, but I want to make sure I include all of the details so someone can actually help me:
I am trying to disconnect my ipod from the computer by clicking the eject symbol located next to it in itunes. Usually after I do this, the ipod disconnects and no longer displays the 'do not disconnect' screen so that I can disconnect it from the usb port.
Here is what happens when I click it now. I get a message that says:
"The ipod 'Sharon's Ipod2' cannot be ejected because it contains files that are in use by another application."
This has happened after the iTunes would not recognize my ipod for about 5 tries of opening and closing iTunes. So, I repaired the iTunes program and now it's recognizing my ipod, but it no won't let me eject it. I'm afraid to just pull it from my computer for fear of losing all 30 GB on my ipod.
What could this possibly mean???? I have no other programs running on my computer right now except for iTunes and this page I'm typing in at apple support.
please help. my ipod and itunes has been working beautifully since I bought it in October- 2 months ago.

I do have anti-virus software, but I don't think it's running at the moment. How do I make sure it's not?
Also, I'm not sure what you mean by do I have a drive open? The ipod is assigned a drive in windows explorer because I have photos and notes on it like I always do.
What I don't get is why I've never had this problem before and I haven't done anything different.

  • HT1296 itunes recogizes my iphone, but says if I sync, the music will be replaced by what is in the library (not what I want). How do I get what's on the iphone to the library?

This happens everytine I get a new computer - I am trying to upload the music on my iphone to itunes. The device shows in itunes, but when i ask to sync, it says the music on the phone will be replaced with what is in the library. I want the phone's library imported to the itunes on my computer. How do I do that?
    Thank you.

f it happens every time you get a new computer, one would think you would have figured it out by now...
Media sync is one way. Computer -> Phone. Copy the media from your old computer to the new computer. Then let iTunes wipe it off of your phone and re-sync.
The only media you can transfer from the phone to the computer is media purchased on the phone from the iTunes store. Use File>Transfer Purchases in iTunes to do that.

  • HT1296 itunes won't sync my audio files after I upgraded my iphone to i0S 6

I upgraded my phone to iOS 6 for the new features and could no longer play (or find) my audio books.  The disk space usage indicated that the files were still there but the music player would not show or play them.  I try to sync to iTunes Library and it fails.  I upgraded my Mac OS and my iTunes versions to the current version and still no luck.  Incidentally I also notice that when I try to make a purchase of new audio files through iTunes directly from my iphone it also seems to hang up.  Occassionally after a couple reboots it may download but still shows my audio library as being empty.
Not sure where to go from here...any suggestions?

OK, this is weird/interesting . . . just now, syncing my iPad, I noticed that under the Music tab there were no syncing options available, just a message that said "iTunes Matching is on." I'd turned it on yesterday, in the Settings, just messing around trying to troubleshoot the audio file sync issue.
iTunes Matching didn't solve the problem, so I turned it off. Then resynced the iPad again from scratch. THIS TIME everything synced! Every single audio file, every playlist, everything.
So that's odd, right?? I mean, I'm happy that it's working, but I'm not sure why it didn't work to begin with, nor why it's suddenly working now. So it's good, but a little unnerving . . .

  • ATV1 iTunes trouble after Lion installation

I recently installed a new hard drive in my MacPro tower. Immediately after installing OS X I upgraded to Lion. Everything works fine except iTunes and ATV1.
The ATV was rebooted. I entered the multi-digit code in iTunes and pairing was established with iTunes and its library.
Now when I click on Devices/Apple TV in iTunes there are only two category choices, "Settings" (which shows items such as hd capacity and serial number of the ATV) and "Photos". The other usual categories -- Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts, etc. are missing in iTunes.
What happened to the other category choices? How do I restore them?
The ATV retained the last files that were sent to it. But there is no way to remove that content or have new content sent to it due to the iTunes issue.

It's extremely unlikely this has anything to do with your Lion install.
Nothing was paired after the new installation on a new hard drive. ATV wasn't even present in iTunes until it was paired.
That doesn't make any sense. Clearly your library is paired with the Apple TV or otherwise you wouldn't have the Apple TV in the iTunes devices list.
After changing your hard drive you have paired your iTunes library as a streaming (secondary) library instead of a syncing primary library, this is apparent by your description of the available tabs when you select your Apple TV from the device list in iTunes.
You now need to remove the pairing you made, you do this from the Apple TV by choosing computers from the settings menu and selecting your library. Once you have done this you can then pair your library properly by selecting computers from the settings menu and choosing the option to connect to iTunes, enter the passcode you are given in iTunes etc etc.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > store, scroll down and tap your ID)
If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.
