HT1296 my computer crashed and I had to reinstall itunes and now I cannot sync my ipod with my computer
My computer crashed and I had to reinstall iTunes. Now I cannot sync my iPod with my computer. Any suggestions?
Was this issue ever resolved?
Ditto for me! I am so upset because about 15 years, I've had the same old Toshiba Gigabeat MP3 player which worked perfectly fine until the day Gigabeat (the software) upgraded to a Vista-compatibility program which made the MP3 go haywired!! I couldn't get the MP3 player (again) to work as normal prior to the update. Then, two years later, the business no longer supports MP3 players, nor does it invest in software patches! Now I have a failed equipment ... though it still plays, but just won't let me work the controls to choose or select tracks! I can only operate the on/off button on the Toshiba Gigabeat MP3 player! AND, concidentally, the battery seems to shorten (lessen)! Interesting...
Then, I decided okay, I had enough...I can't play over 5.000 songs just to return to start; I decided to purchase the Apple iPod Classic 160 GB Silver! I've had it only since March 2012. It worked wonderfully at first. It took me months to put all the music from my CDs to this magical device. And, then, all of a sudden, my computer CRASHED (ironically in JUNE 2012!!) and lost all on the hard drive ... perhaps it is not ironic afterall.
Here's a tall quesion to Apple manufacturer, are they preparing us to confiscate our equipment? It sure seems that way to me!
No support from Toshiba (which, by the way, are currently investing in so-called "green energy in nuclear projects" in the state of Texas), nor is there any support by Apple ... Interesting! Sorry for babbling. But I'm tired of big money making corporations putting on the bluffer masks on the public! Something just ain't right! Hold tight to your vinyls, tape decks, cassettes, 8-tracks and CDs... This may be just another whim to making big time money!

My computer has had a new operating system put on (Windows 7) but I did not de-authorise my old computer which was Windows Vista and now I cannot sync my Ipod Classic as it keeps saying I have exceeded my maximum of 5 computers being authororized. I tried doing this via my account in the Itunes Store but it still won't allow me to do this. Can anyone help?
Contact Apple customer support, they can reset your authorizations.

I wiped out my songs by mistake and now I cannot sync my ipod back to my music in itunes?
I wiped out my ipod music by mistake and now I cannot sync my ipod back to my itunes
Can you provide more specific info?
Do you mean that you deleted the music from the iPod (not sure how you would do that without connecting to iTunes) but still have them in iTunes or that you deleted the music from iTunes but still have it on the iPod?
Is your iTunes installed on a Mac or a PC? -
I can see the preview versions of the songs in my account but I don'[t know how to restore the full versions. Thanks for any advice.
Depending on which country you are in, then you might be able to re-download the music from iTunes : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519 . Otherwise have you not got a backup of your purchases on, for example, an external drive or DVD that you can copy back onto your computer and add into iTunes ?

Can anyone help?
If this is music that you purchased on the iPad, you CAN download the songs to the iPods again for free as long as you use the same Apple ID and as long as you live in where the feature is available from iTunes.
This is copied from the Downloading Past Purchases article here.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
Previously purchased music is only available through iTunes in the Cloud in Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Estonia, France, Germany, Guatemala, Honduras, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, United States, and Venezuela.
What I said is that you can't sync directly from one iDevice to another iDevice. You don't need the PC if the music was purchased from iTunes. Just go the purchased tab in iTunes on the iPods and start downloading again. -
Had my computer serviced recently and had to reinstall itunes. Now its saying I have two accounts. How can I switch to my original account where all my music that I imported is and get rid of the new one that only shows my purchased music?

Can anyone help me figure out how to sync my ipod with my purchased music? I have used several computer and at one point synced my ipod with a computer that only had about half of my music. My other computers are no longer working. Not sure how to get my purchased music back onto my ipod?
Hi kimcinma!
Your previous purchases are saved on iCloud even if you bought them on another computer. If you can't find them on your current computer, you might need to unhide them. Go to iTunes preferences, and click on Store Preferences. Then click the box for "show iTunes in the Cloud purchases". Then click on OK, and everything you've ever bought from iTunes on that Apple ID will show up in your library. You will need to download them from iCloud first before you can synch them to your iPod Classic. To do this, click on the little cloud with the arrow in it next to your song, and it will download to your computer. When you have the music that you want downloaded, plug in your iPod and synch away. Hope this helps!

My computer's hardrive went bad an I had to get a new one. Now my computer has nothing on it and I had to reinstall itunes and i have no music or anything. So now I cannot sync my ipod or anything. Is there anything i can do to get all of my stuff back?
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup copy to put everything back. -
I had to restore my computer and had to reinstall itunes. Now when I try to open itunes I get a message saying it is a new version than my itunes library. How do I fix this?
Try the following document, only be sure that none of the boxes in the compatibility mode tab are checked (not just the compatibility mode box itself):

I had my computer repaired, and when I got it back I had to reinstall iTunes. Now iTunes won't authorize this computer because it says we already have 5 devices authorized, but this is the same computer. Does anyone know how I can fix this?
Deauthorizing won't delete anything, and all your purchased content is safe. You will just have to reauthorize any of the other computers that get deauthorized along with your computers old machine id.
To get your purchased content back on that computer, just use iTunes to redownload it (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US). Of course, music you ripped from CD or got from another source you'll need to copy those files back over. -
Will I lose my Calendar and Addresses if I sync my iPod with a new macbook?
I just had to get a new hard disk and want to put my Cal and Addresses back on it. I can find lots of information about transferring my photos and music, but will I lose my Calendar and Addresses if I sync my iPod with a new macbook?
Before you sync, make at least one entry in your computer's Address Book and one iCal event (a fake entry will do). That will generate a "merge" prompt. Otherwise, the empty address book and calendar will overwrite what you have on your iPod.

hi all, i just updated my iphone 3gs with 5.0 ios version and now i cannot configure the iphone with it because itunes is not recognizing my iphone
Contacts are NOT part of the iTunes backup. If you had read the User Guide when you got your phone, you would have learned that Apple recommends you synch your contacts for safekeeping to your computer (Outlook, Address Book) or a cloud service. Using the phone as your only source of your contacts is foolish as the phone can easily be lost, damaged, stolen, or the data become corrupt.
If you've been using your phone as strongly recommended, your contacts are safe and sound on your computer or cloud service ready to be synched back to your phone. Of course, you should be backing up your computer regularly as well.
If you haven't been doing this, your contacts are likely gone. -

When I connect my iPod Touch to a new laptop (Macbook Air) the "Info" tab won't appear and therefore I cannot sync it with my new iTunes. How can I sync this iPod with the iTunes on my new laptop?
There is no Info tab in Mavericks
if you use OS X v.10.8.5 or earlier. If you use OS X Mavericks v.10.9 or later, your contacts, calendars, and other info are updated on your computers and iOS devices via iCloud. For more information, see iCloud Help at icloud.com.
