HT1296 outlook sync question

I would like to sync my work contacts from my iphone to outlook on my home computer.  Currently, my work contacts are pushed to the phone by a microsoft exchange server from outlook.  Can this be done?

Restore the iPod. On the Summary page for the iPod in itunes they should be a restore button.
Restoring iPod to factory settings
That is required when you change computers.
You did first turn the iPod over to the police, right?

  • Outlook sync question

I have successfully synced my 3g iPhone with Outlook 2003 on my Windows XP side and Calendar and Address Book on Mac side of my Macbook pro and MobileMe since purchasing my iPhone in August. However, I hate having to manage my music using Windows iTunes. Can I leave everything set as is on the Windows side but sync my iPhone with iTunes on the Mac side and still have Outlook, Calendar/Address Book and MobileMe sync?

    Hey java2d,
You can sync and even merge some data from multiple computers.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1296
So you can push some data from MobileMe, and sync some from your PC and Mac. It depends on whats being synced and pushed though.
You'll probably want to sync your contacts and calendars on your PC to MobileMe and have them pushed to the iPhone. Then you can sync music from either your Mac or PC.

  • ICal/Outlook syncing question on a PC/Mac

So I have a mac at home (synced with video/music/ical/photos) and a PC at work with my work Outlook calendar.
I was impressed to see that I could sync outlook at work without breaking my connection to my mac at home. However, what I don't like is that the touch will also push my ical calendars into my work outlook on my PC. I'd rather keep home and work separate. Does anyone know how to merge calendars on the touch, but prevent merging on the computers themselves?

    Hi Scott,
I have had a few growing pains working out what to do on this exact subject and I am slowly getting there.
I am still working on it and will update as I proceed but I think I have the start of an answer. Most of the settings that can achieve this are within the iPhone and you need to ensure that these are set correctly to achieve what you want. At the moment I am changing these whilst my iPhone is connected to my Macbook G4 which is the computer I set up the iPhone with O2 the service provider in the UK when I got it last week.
I have MobileMe and work email account set up on my iPhone that are pushing email fine and dandy.
Here is the important bit, on your iPhone go into settings>mail, contacts, calendar>work email account. You will see the choice of ON or OFF for mail, contacts, calendar. Check these are all ON for your work email account and this will sync all the relevant Outlook data with no problem. Choose OFF for contacts and calendar on your personal email account and this will give you what you want. I currently have mail and bookmarks selected on my personal account this gives me the stuff I want on my iPhone.
You can then set up the other sync items through iTunes on the computer you normally sync the iPhone with.
At the moment, this looks like your iCal and Address book on your mac will remain empty but I will keep playing with the sync settings in iTunes until I find the way forward.
Still waiting for Apple to come up with a "private" setting for calendar entries like always happened when I added calendar events to my Nokia E60. I don't want work seeing what is going on there really. Unless, of course, there is another setting that I am missing for this.
    Cheers

  • Outlook sync questions

.. I have my sync all set up and works fine.
just to confirm... if I connect the computer, the sync with itunes occurs automatically.... if I make chnages in outlook while connected I need to force the sync correct? there is no automatic sync with changes in outlook or in a certain time correct?

    Hi,
this is where you define the transaction types:
SPRO > CRM > Transactions > Basic Settings > Define Transaction Types
To further specify the assignments of categories and classes to TTs you need to go here
SPRO > CRM > Transactions > settings for activities > maintain categories ....
there are 4 sub items where you need to work throught the first 2
but first I would take a paper and paint the types, categories and classes and there dependencies.
by default activity management has 4 classes: appointment, tasks, email, interaction log. You can´t add new classes but you will not need more than those for a good and easy-to-use SFA activity management.
items of the class appointment or task are getting replicated to groupware, email and interaction log not.

  • HT1296 Outlook sync

I was just told by an Apple repesentative that Outlook Calendar will NOT sync with Iphone 4s with Wi-fi or through the icloud--only with the wire.  Is this correct?  All of the information in itunes at least IMPLIES that I can get automatic syncing.

    The Apple representative is wrong.
This link is for an iCloud account. Syncing over the air with an Exchange account is also supported.
    http://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/article/242401/syncing_icloud_with_windows _and_outlook.html
Syncing direct with Outlook via the iTunes sync process can be done via USB or via wi-fi.

  • HT1296 When syncing Outlook on my computer w/my iphone, new events put into my iphone calender did not show up on my computer in Outlook. Is this the only way it works, Outlook to iphone and not both ways?

When syncing my Outlook calender with my iphone calender, only items from Outlook synced. Events I added to my iphone calender did NOT show up on my Outlook calender. Is this the way it works, only one way?

Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Calendar and just confirm that you haven't selected a calendar such as the one listed under On My iPhone (if that's listed), and that your have selected your Outlook calendar here as your default.  Assuming you have, if you are syncing your calendar using iTunes (rather than iCloud), you may need to reset your sync history in iTunes.  Follow the troubleshooting steps here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1692.

  • Outlook Sync - Multiple Calendar Problem

(I am not sure whether this belongs in this Forum or would be more appropriately directed to my Device (Curve 8900) forum or Desktop Software.  Please advise or re-direct if that is the case.)
I am having a sync issue with Outlook, and it revolves around the issue of having multiple calendars on the Device, each of which is associated with an e-mail address.  I understand this has been a relatively common question; however, although I admittedly may be looking in the wrong place, I have yet to come across a comprehensive solution.
I understand how to switch the "default" e-mail associated with scheduling items on the calendar, and I believe I'm correct in thinking that this is what syncs with Outlook.  I've noticed that when I try switching the default, Outlook wants to delete all other appointments which are NOT associated with that device calendar.
So I guess my specific questions are:
    1) Is there a way to have Outlook sync with ALL calendars on the device, i.e. not just the default?  It's easy enough to make all appointments from here on out with a single account & have that be the one that syncs; however, it doesn't seem possible to do that without having Outlook want to delete all other appointments.
    2) Is there a way to change the associated email/calendar for events on the Device?  When I open an event, I can see which email/calendar it is but I don't know how to *change* it -- I only seem to have a choice when scheduling new events.
If either of these was an option, I think that would solve my problem -- I could either go through the device & convert everything to the default email/calendar & everything would be there upon sync, OR Outlook would just pick up everything from all calendars when I sync.
I don't understand why it's so complicated to have everything in one place!
Thanks in advance to those willing to share their wisdom & advice in this matter.

  • E-mail (Outlook) syncs to iMac and iPad, but not to iPhone. How can I get it to sync to all three devices?

My e-mail (Outlook) syncs to my iMac and my iPad.  However, I can read e-mails on my new iPhone, respond to them, and even erase them, but when I go to my computer or iPad afterwards, they still appear unopened and I have to open each one and close it again so it doesn't show up as an unread e-mail.  This does not happen with the iMac and iPad; deleting it on one of those deletes it on the other as well.  What am I doing wrong?

I asked the hosts to relocate your question to the Using iPhone Forum. You should get helped there.

  • ITunes 10 vs Outlook, some questions

I haven't had that issue on my home PC where I use Thunderbird but I'm hesitant to upgrade to 10 on my work machine where I HAVE to use outlook.
A few questions for some people to reply to to help me see what's up, if you don't mind.
    1) Do you have "sync to Outlook" enabled, if yes, what happens if you turn that option off, close iTunes & Outlook & then retry to open Outlook with iTunes running, do the same issues occur?
    2) If that solves the issue does it recur if you re-enable outlook syncing?
My feeling is that there is an issue with the Outlook connection that iTunes is using to perform the syncing, this has occurred in the past & may be cropping up again.

    Hi,
This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3500 addresses this issue and provides a fix of renaming the "OutlookChangeNotifierAddIn.dll" file.

  • OUTLOOK SYNC MUST BE

COULD SOME ONE TELL ME WHEN WILL BE A OUTLOOK SYNC WITH IPHONE

Your company needs to allow it. If they don't then there is nothing you can do to sync with Exchange at work.
Ask them for the settings if they allow it and what they support.
If they support ActiveSync then it is pretty easy (no need for Mobile Me) Mobile Me is just for users that want their own contacts syncing with a server (like syncing with Exchange). It is more for personal use.
EDIT: Misread your question. Thought you wanted to sync with your works Exchange Server.
If you just want to sync with your computer at work you can sync with your address book but need iTunes installed at work then.

Just downloaded  Skype for Q 10 that works with Z10 However they still did not solve the problem with  Direct Outlook sync and not through third party software or link
Simple process download through Crackberry link and add on your Z10 through Developer mode works like a charm ....

  • Outlook Sync Error SOLVED - Multi-day repeating appointment cannot be converted for use on the Handheld...

*UPDATE 1/23/2009 07:08 AM* This is a partial fix. I no longer think the Recurrence Range is the culprit. It seems the Time Zones features between Outlook & Palm are not cooperating. This explains why my 12 am events are syncing as 6 pm the day before; I live in GMT-6:00 so it's moving my events ahead by 6 hours. Another event I set for 1 pm in Outlook was changed to 7 am on my Treo. I am going to start over and recreate each event, this time setting the Time Zones, which I hadn't done before. I tested it out and it worked with a single event... let's see how long it lasts. I've also found that using 'No Time' on my Treo is not compatible with Outlook. It's better to set a time with 0 minutes duration.
*UPDATE 1/23/2009 04:11 AM* This is a partial fix. My monthly and yearly problematic recurring events are now showing up at 6 pm the day before on my Treo, though my Outlook calendar is fine. I think this has to do with the Recurrence Range Start/End in Outlook, which is set automatically. If only there were a way to change this...
After a WHOLE LOTTA trial-and-error (like 3 days worth), I think I finally solved my OLERR:14-001 issue!
Problem: Syncing Palm Treo 755p calendar with Outlook 2007
    Error Message (simplified):
HotSync session completed with messages on [date] [time]
HotSync session started on [date] [time], and completed in [0] seconds
Outlook Calendar synchronization completed with messages
    Duration: [0] seconds
    Outlook Calendar
The multi-day repeating appointment titled [event] beginning [date] [time] cannot be converted for use on the Handheld. Please divide the appointment up into single-days and re-synchronize.
     OLERR:14-0001
    - Desktop overwrite HH Sync
Note: You will likely have several of these ‘Multi-day’ instances in your hotsync log (I had 58). You may want to change Calendar in hotsync to "Desktop overwrites Handheld" after you get this error, to avoid erasing events while you are fixing this issue. Otherwise, you may have to restore them from a backup copy (if you have one) and start over. You can switch back once you’re through.
Solution: First, I tried this Palm KB Article: http://kb.palm.com/SRVS/NUA/launchKB.asp?c=31167. After this didn’t work for me… I did trial-and-error. I believe the problem is that each recurring event, which you set up as ‘All-day’, must be changed to have a duration of 0 minutes from within Outlook. I was able to change some events directly, but I found that some of the records had corrupted, and would just revert. My fool-proof solution was to recreate EVERY problematic event (yes, one-by-one) using the following steps:
    Open Outlook
Go to your default calendar, where your events are synced
In the top menu choose ‘View’ > ‘Current View’ > ‘Recurring Appointments’
    Open a ‘New Appointment’
Enter subject and other options, such as Categorize, Importance, Time Zones, or Reminder
Make sure starting and ending date & time are the EXACT same
Select ‘Recurrence’ & choose your pattern
I did not choose ‘No end date’ (hence the Palm article), but rather ‘End by:’ and typed in 2031, then pressed tab to auto-generate a suitable end date. I chose 2031 because that is last year my Treo’s calendar goes to. Click OK
Repeat for every event in your error log, until you get a clean "Desktop overwrites Handheld" hotsync (Outlook should be closed when you sync)
Switch Calendar in hotsync back to "Synchronize"
Even though I still get the message OLERR14:001, my syncs are successful. Now I will give my Treo time to see if the issue returns later. Until then, happy Outlook syncing and good luck!

  • Problem Syncing Outlook....says outlook sync client encountered problem

I have been syncing outlook calendar and contacts from my PC to my iPhone with no problems. I have version 1.1.2 on my iPhone and 7.5 or whatever the latest is on iTunes software. The syncs were fine until recently and now I cant sync and get an error message that says "outlook sync client encountered problem" What could possibly have happened....I read some posts that say to go back to iTunes 7.3 etc....this has to be a common problem....any suggestions.

Here is an article from the apple support website that might help out.

  • My Temp Work around for my Outlook Sync with Z10 - Not Ideal but works.

I like many on this forum was pissed that Outlook Sync was not included with BlackBerry Link.. I was fortunate to transfer all my contacts & calendars from my Old Torch 9810 without a problem. The problem is that I need to sync my calendar and updated contacts on a regular bases. I use Outlook 2010 for all my 1400 contacts and Calendar. There is no way I am going to use any cell phone to update this amount of data. I have owned the Z10 since Tuesday Morning and that afternoon I was ready to take it back and I am a die hard BB user..  My wife has an Iphone 5, nice toy, but wont work for my business..  Seriously considered Android phone, but they also have their issues with the Outlook sync via USB..
But after 6 Days with the Z10, I must say I love it. .Didn't at first, but once you figure out, it is truly impressive.. Also love the virtual keyboard, very accurate and amazing.. Love the fact that I can have multiple applications running at the same time.. I use web pages that I need for work as an active screen and a button on my home page.
While waiting for a 3rd party application to implement this (Campanion Link & Deja Office) or to have BB realize that this is serious and add it in their BB link soon.. Cloud is not an option for me.
This is the temporary solution I have right now.
    Option 1:
    1. Wipe off all my Data of my old BB 9810. Make sure lates OS is installed.  Delete all contacts. Sync with Outlook but from PC to Phone Only..  Use BB link to transfer the Contacts and Calendar to the Z10. This will replace any contact you have on the z10..
    Option 2:
Forward any contacts from your outlook as vcard to your Z10 as email.  Click on the .vcard and it will add to contacts.
Again this is a temp soltuion without 3rd party software or Icloud until BB adds this to BB link.

Yes it's back! ( and works! ) Thank you Apple!
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.

  • More Outlook syncing issues

I know that this issue seems to be beaten to death on this forum, but I haven't been able to find another topic that's explaining exactly the problem that I'm seeing. I have tried all of the tips that I could, both directly from Apple's articles and on this forum. I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and the Apple Mobile Device Support, disabled all other Outlook add-ins, deleted all of my recurring events in Outlook, created a new empty Outlook .pst file, and probably a few other hints that I've seen here.
No matter what I do, when I click to the "Info" tab under my iPhone in iTunes, I get the message that says "OutlookSyncClient has encountered a problem and needs to close." I can close the message, but as expected I get the same thing when I try to initiate a sync. I believe that it will actually bring up that message twice - once when it tries to initiate a contacts sync, and again when it tries to do a calendar sync.
I do not have iTunes set to automatically sync. As with many other users, syncing used to work for me, and then it stopped a couple of months ago (I think around the same iTunes update that seems to have broken the others). I'd love it if someone has anything different for me to try; I feel like I'm out of ideas at this point. I don't think that it would make any difference, but I don't have any problems syncing to my Mac at home. This Windows PC is my work machine. Thanks!

Although this doesn't really go towards solving my problems, I did try going back and installing iTunes 7.3.2, which some people have said is the last version where Outlook syncing worked. Unfortunately, that version won't connect to my iPhone with the latest firmware; it gives me a message that I must have at least version 7.4 installed. So, I'm "stuck" with the most up-to-date iTunes.
Any ideas on the problems in the original post?
