You can't have an iMac PPC (PowerPC) if you loaded Snow Leopard. iMac Intel are the only Macs that are compatible with 10.6. So the first thing wrong you are doing is posting in the wrong forum, or giving us misinformation.
Go to Apple menu -> About This Mac to find out exactly what you are running. A G5 is a PowerPC. Intel is Intel.
Also look at the operating system in that window and update your profile.
What version of iTunes do you have?
Has the iPad ever shown before on this machine? Once we have your correct info, I'll ask a moderator move this thread.

Try this
Go into the control panel, programs, add/remove programs
Uninstall iTunes, Apple Mobile Device Service, Apple Application supprt
Then go to apple.com and redownload iTunes and reinstall it and try again.
It shouldn't affect your content at all (didn't mine) but may help with iTunes seeing your device.

IPhone does not show up un iTunes

I just got my iPhone yesterday and when I connect it to my MacBook Pro, it does not show up in iTunes. The computer does recognize the device because it automatically tries to get the photos off of the phone. I have done all of the software updates and restarted the computer and phone. I'm not sure what else to do, or if I need to update my operating system. I currently am using 10.6.8.

If you're iPhone is connected to a keyboard or hard drive, it might not show up in iTunes. Try connecting it to the back of your Mac.

Ipod Classic does not show up in iTunes and will not sync

My ipod classic does not show up as a device in iTunes. It was working just a week or so ago, but each time I plug it in the screen says connected, then switches to Ejected, you can now disconnect, then says OK to disconnect and then goes to the home screen. Can someone advise me on what is going on and what I need to do to fix it! Thanks!!!

Iphone 5S no longer recognized in ITunes and so cannot sync

Iphone 5S is no longer recognized in ITunes so it cannot sync. I am not seeing the driver listed and therefore the recommendation to repair the driver does not work for me. Have rebooted, deleted Itunes and reuploaded many many times. I have read and tried all the "Apple" fixes listed. I use Kasperasky Anti-Virus and wondered if that could be blocking the driver needed. I have added the Apple programs to Kaspersky's exclusion list but that did not work. Seems ridiculous to spend any more money to download songs in ITunes if I can never sync my Iphone 5S to get them on my phone. Apple techs, please help - just recommending the standard fixes I keep reading has not helped at all. Anyone else have a different suggestion? Thanking you in advance as I've spent so many hours on trying to find a fix.

Thank you for your suggestions but I still have the problem. The Iphone 5S is not recognized and I have deleted Kaspersky off my computer (and still have not put it back on yet). I still do not see the Apple Mobile Service USB Driver listed. I had done this process previously (several times) but went through it all again in your order just in case I missed something. I am wondering if there is a way to go back to the previous version of ITunes in case it was the ITunes update causing me the problems. I do not think I can blame it on Kaspersky since it is not on my computer now and I have the same problem.
I also notice that the Iphone is not listed in my devices in Windows 7 - not sure if it was before or is suppose to be for sure - but just noting it is not. I tried the option to add devices but Windows does not find the Iphone 5S. Just thought I would add that information in case that should lead to a solution. Again thanks for your time - would appreciate any other suggestions. I don't think you can use Apple Support without paying money so would like to find help from someone else having the problems. I think it is odd so many people are having problems with their phone being recognized or sometimes just it syncing - and various steps have helped others (like uninstalling and re-installing). Ipod touch or iphone does not show up in itunes

Ok. So I have had this ongoing problem. Whenever I install an update to either itunes or my touch or iphone, itunes no longer detects the device. I have tried deleting the apple mobile device usb driver and letting it reinstall, powering on and off the devices and the computer, differnt usb ports, different usb cables. The only way I can get itunes to see the devices again is to completely remove all apple sw and reinstall. This is too time consuming to put up with anymore. Now today, after a complete reinstall last night and no updated software of any kind itunes does not see my devices again. Windows detects the devices and mobile device usb driver comes up in device manager with no conflicts.
Unless someone can point me in the right direction, I am giving up on itunes and apple.
Windows 7 with latest gen itouch and iphone 4s.

IPhone 3G - Iphone does not show up as Camera and Portable Devices in Windo

I have 2 iphones and both are 3g, I will name them A & B for the sake of this conversation. when I plug in A, windows 7 recognizes it as a camera and so does itunes. but when I plug in B, itunes recognizes it but windows 7 does not. I am not able to transfer the pictures from ipone B. Please suggest. Iphone B was on 3.1.2 and I upgraded it to 3.1.3 and still no luck. I am thinking of clean wiping iphone B, but need to know for sure that the pictures are backed up in the itunes backup.

Occassionally if a picture is saved from an email, an MMS or copied from a website, it has had the tendency to create an error when trying to import the pictures from the camera roll. If that is the case on phone "B", then it is suggested that you email the offfending photos and then delete them from the camera roll. Once that is done, most will then appear in Windows. Not sure if this is the case for you, but that is generally the first fix.

IPhone is not being recognised by iTunes and won't sync

A few days my iPhone randomly froze so I had to do a hard reset. Then when I plugged it into my laptop and tried to sync it, it said The required file could not be found. I pressed ok and then another box came up with something along the lines of iPhone could not be synced, error -6999.
So I unplugged and plugged back in and a message came up saying "iTunes cannot read the content of the iPhone. Go to the summary tab in iPhone preferences and click restore to restore this iPhone to its factory settings". So i did this, restored everything to factory and then tried to re-sync with my computer. Then exactly the same error came up as before (file cannot be found, iPhone doesnt sync). And the circle goes on and on and on.
I've tried restarting, re-installing itunes. I think iTunes is working though because I can still sync my nano with no trouble. Any ideas? Because this is really annoying.

I'm having the same problem... just got a new iPhone 3GS in addition to the older 3G model. I need to synch them both with home (music, photos, videos etc. master) and work computers (Contacts, Calendar master).
This worked no problem on the older 3G model, the 3GS synched with my home computer but my work once I get the following message: "iTunes cannot read the content of the iPhone. Go to the summary tab in iPhone preferences and click restore to restore this iPhone to its factory settings".
I've tried re-starting both iPhone and computer, un-installing and re-installing iTunes / QuickTime / Apple Mobile Device Manager etc.; different USB ports etc. and still the problem exists...

Scroll to the bottom and enter your password to log onto your home sharing
Then connect to iTunes and sync!

i just bought a new laptop and moved over my itune from old laoptop to the new one. I copied over all itune files and folder and also resynced all my device with the synce cable. Once i completed that and check in itunes to sync wireless, still no device show in itunes.
