New DVD is not readable

What DVD...?
If it is not showing up in the Startup Manager, then it is the wrong System or Upgrade DVD for your Mac.

I have a DVD Acrobat Pro 9. I upgraded laptops and trying to install but the DVD is not readable. How can I get a new DVD or Download Acrobat Pro 1. The product is registered and I have the serial number. PS: Contacting Adobe on this issue is impossible... direct support stinks.

Download AA 9 Pro from http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html. Make a new backup for your archive. You might also take the DVD to your library to see if it is a drive problem. You might also carefully clean the DVD with water and soap (do not use anything that would scratch the surface or you have destroyed it for sure) and see if that solves the problem. This is particularly an issue if you have finger prints or other crud on the DVD. However, it could also be a bad drive as I mentioned. Hopefully the download solves your problem in any case (I would backup the download to CD and/or backup HD).

  • Time Machine makes my new external HD not readable on my PC?

ok, so today i just bought a new Western Digital external HD, and i 1st plugged it in on my PC, and it works fine as any other brand new HD, and i was just making sure the HD works before i plugged it on my MBP, so later i used it on my MBP and as i plugged it in, Time Machine asked me if i want to make the new HD as a back up drive for Time Machine but need to erase anything on the HD
and since it's new and none was on the HD, i click yes and erase, and it's done, my HD was named Time Machine bla2, ok so i have some installer that i need to be transferred from my PC to my MBP, so later i removed the HD again and tried to plug it on my PC again, but boom,, not readable ( 1st my pc detected a new hardware, but that's it, the HD icon wont show up on "my computer" )
and i did various things, like roll back the driver and stuffs, and even trying to reformat the HD back, but it's no use, my PC wont detect any presence of the HD
    so my question is
does making a HD back up for Time Machine means the Time Machine reformats the HD into something that WIndows cant read?
i gotta go and buy another one again =(

If you just need to transfer installers or other files occasionally, then a USB flash drive works great and you just leave it formatted in FAT32 which will work on both Mac and PC. 4GB flash drives have gotten VERY cheap lately, so you can transfer quite a lot with one of these. Of course, you can also burn CDs and DVDs (if you have a burner on your PC) which are even cheaper than using a flash drive, but a little less convenient.
(Time Machine doesn't work with the FAT32 PC format, so a Time Machine drive can't be used to transfer files from a PC).

  • New DVD burner not working w/iTunes

Okay, I've been working on this and digging through these forums for awhile now. I'm still stumped. So here we go:
I had a new DVD burner installed. I'm using Nero software which works fine for DVD, data, etc. However, iTunes gives me the "disc burner or software not found" message if I try to burn a disc from iTunes.
I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes (yes, latest version) twice now. No go.
In edit>preferences>advanced>burning CD burner: still shows the old CD-RW.
iTunes will recognize and play prerecorded CDs and ask if I want to import them.
In help>diagnostics>CD/DVD drive tests, after putting in a prerecorded CD as requested: Optical drive detected IS the correct device (D: ASUS DRW-1814BL) BUT I get a red dot with "no audio CD found" yet the songs are showing in the device window (in actual iTunes behind the diagnostic window).

I have uninstalled all virtual drive software, including Daemon Tools, PowerISO, and MagicDisc.
I have followed the article pointed out in an earlier thread involving editing the registry to remove 3rd party filters.
Okay... that's as much info as I can think of. Help?

Do you by any chance have Daemon tools? They are know to cause drive recongnition problems with this error number.

  • Satellite P20 after burning the DVD is not readable

    Hi,
All the times, after trying to write DVDs it ends with unreadable DVD. You can see that there is a burning on it, but the content can is not readable and you can not burn it anymore. I tried it with different products in R-.
What can I do? Which different drive can I buy?

On this forum I have found few interesting topics about ODD replacement on Satellite P20. It seems to be that TEAC DV-W22E drive is perfect for ODD replacement. It is DVD-RAM ODD and you will have DVD burner with RAM function.
Google a little bit around and pick up info about price.

  • New DVD Drive not recognized by Itunes? Error 2550

    Hey all,
So i go to burn a cd and i get the Disk Burner or Software not found error message. I start doing a little research and I find out that maybe my new optical drive I just bought isn't supported and it tells me to check this i need to go to Edit>Preferences>Advanced in the Itunes window and if my DVD drive is not supported it won't have anything in the DVD section of that. Well there is a DVD drive listed but its my old one, anyone know if I can somehow force itunes to recognize that i have a new Drive? I mean its a new sony drive, i imagine it should be supported.

  • New DVD drive not recognized on my Satellite Pro 4600

    Hi all,
I have recently bought a brand new NEC ND-6650 DVD writer.
This drive is NOT recognized by my Satellite Pro 4600, at all - neither Windows 2000 nor in the BIOS (v 2.60). Bios updates higher than version 2.60 are not provided.
Does this mean I can forget about using the new writer in my old notebook?
    Thanks and best regards,
    Nils

    Hi Nils,
I suspect that your new drive may be not be compatible with your notebook. As with all optical drives your new drive will be configured as either Slave or Master (or possible cable select), and this configuration must match your notebook.
Usually your hard drive will be configured as Master on IDE channel 0 with your optical drive being the slave device on the same channel. However, you may find that your optical drive is configured as Master on IDE channel 1.
Normally the setting is pre-configured by the manufacturer so you will need to check both the conficuration of your new drive and the configuration of your original drive to make sure that they are the same.
    regards,

  • New DVD-RW not recognized by iTunes

I replaced the original DVD-R in my 1 GHz TiBook with a Pioneer DVD drive model DVR-K05. Do I need to update drivers with this new optical drive? iTunes doesn't recognize the new writer and still lists the old Matshita UJ-815 DVD-R as the CD burner. When I use Toast 5 I can burn discs no problem. Thanks in advance for troubleshooting advice.

  • Data DVD's not readable on PC

I make data DVD's with photos on it for my clients and those with PC's can't open them. Why?!
    Help

This is probably not a Mac/PC issue
I regularly have DVD's that I burn for others on my Mac, data/photos/music, and have also had this problem with some burners on the PC.
I burned a data DVD of photos the other day on the Mac and took it to a friend. Her iMac said the DVD was blank, so I thought s@*$£t...my fault must have forgotten to burn the disk after creating the burn folder.
Brought it back home and put it in my Mac, and it is fine, all the photos are there. The photos are also viewable on my Win X laptop, but only on one of the two DVD drives I have in the PC.
You just have to experiment with different brands of CD/DVD, get the clients to try the disks in multiple machines, till they find one that can read them

  • Leopard Upgrade DVD unusable - Not readable

    Hello everybody,
I can't install Leopard on my brand new Macbook Pro.
I bought this upgrade DVD on Apple.com for $10. I purchased my Macbook Pro on October.
Each time I insert the DVD in the laptop, the computer tries to read it, but fails. No icon appear on the desktop. After a minute or so, the DVD is automatically ejected.
Can Apple send me another Leopard Upgrade DVD ? Or exchange it ?
    Thank you.

    Hi gobolino28-
Greetings and welcome to the Apple boards
Problems have been reported with some installation DVDs. Is it safe to assume that you can read other DVDs?

    Hi
I wonder from what Toshiba driver site did you download the drivers?
Mhhh this is s a Toshiba US model designed and delivered in US.
So you should use the Tosh US site for driver download.
Checking the US driver page I didnt find any XP drivers and this is a reason why I asked.
Anyway I would recommend updating the Win XP OS to the latest state. This means you should visit the Microsoft site and should run a update test!

  • New iOS 7 not readable in bright light, why is there no contrast?

The new iOS 7 is terrible. The background screen is white and in certain apps, plus the phone dial pad and in Notes there is no color separation or contrast to read in bright light.

I just fixed this on my phone. If there is a moon symbol showing in the top right hand corner that means you have the "Do Not Disturb" setting on its a new feature with ios7. If you go to your settings you can find it right under the Control Center tab. Just click on it and flip the manual switch off. Hope this helps!:)

  • New Hard drive not working - please help!!!

This is an original thread that I'd started:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2066043&tstart=0
Since that, I tried the following this morning.
I took out the old 100GB drive and fitted the new 500GB (blank) drive. My plan was to fresh install OSX, install Carbon Copy Cloner and then clone the old drive by plugging it in with a reading device I have. What actually happened was the following:
I put in my Mac OSX install disc 1. I opened disc utility from the top toolbar. In disc utility the new drive showed up and I formatted (erase option) it to mac OS Extended (journalled). I then began a fresh install of OSX. As it started the macbook told me I was '+running on battery power+' and '+was I sure?+'. With full battery I said yes and continued. All was going well and it prompted for the second install disc. It got some way through that and then got stuck at 38% installing garage band loops. The new internal drive was also making a repetitive noise - not loud or anything but certainly sounded like it was searching for something. As the whole thing was stuck and nothing was working I held down the power button.
I tried again with the first disc but it wont even do anything anymore! I took out the new drive and put in the old one. Booted up. Connected the new drive to the reader with the idea of re-formatting it via disc utility.
But now the brand new drive is not readable and is making the a few funny repetitive noises.
Please help me someone - I'm very worried about this new drive now!!! Is is broken or corrupted or something???
Your help is very much appreciated

    Hi VS,
What "reading device" are you using?
As it started the macbook told me I was '+running on battery power+' and '+was I sure?+'. With full battery I said yes and continued.
It is best to have the power adapter connected when running a long process like this which cannot be interrupted.

It sounds like there is something amiss with the new HD. If you have access to a different external enclosure, (even on a PC, just to see if the HD will function), you could try erasing/formatting it again. If not, I think it's time to contact the vendor about a return.

I plugged it into my MAC BOOK PRO and it keeps saying it needs to be updated which I press "OK" and then it asks for my password and when I type it in, it keeps stating it's "incorrect"?
