My iPhone uses icloud with my primary apple id, lets call it [email protected]
But my iPhone used to sync with my old apple id, lets call it [email protected]
My [email protected] email address is going away, so I need to update the apple id, ie [email protected] to [email protected]
When I do this, my iPhone can update apps from [email protected], but updating old apps asks for a password for [email protected], when that [email protected] no longer exists, so it fails. How do I make my phone update old apps using the updated email address?

Please read my question again, I am not asking to transfer purchase from [email protected] to [email protected], I am asking how to update the email address on my old apple id [email protected] to [email protected] and continue to update my old apps on my iPhone.

Welcome to the Apple community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
When you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.

If you mean the non-Apple email address which is your login, you can change it at http://appleid.apple.com - click on 'Manage your account'. You can't change the @icloud.com address you set up when you opened the account.

ITunes Account email address

Long story, but I have 2 iTunes accounts, one of which I no longer use. The email system for my primary account is going away, and I need to associate this primary account with a different active email address. I'd like to associate it to my other accounts email address. Is there a way I can either close or disable this second unused iTunes account, and move the email address associated with it to my primary account? Any other suggestions on how to fix this problem (other than open a 3rd email account someplace)?

I accually called them and was on the phone for like two hours trying to fix it. Do you have an apple id? if so you can use that to buy a free song and then synce the phone and then after that try to buy something and your apple id name should come up. I was using my aol email address and then for some reason it stoped working and I couldnt bye anything. I did that and now I can buy stuff again..hope this helps

I have read a lot of posts in here about this but none seem to fix my problem.
I have changed my email address in iTunes account. I have synced iTunes with my iPhone.
But when I try and buy something my old email address appears on the iPhone iTunes store and it won't let me buy anything.
How can I change the email address the iPhone uses for purchasing things?

Switch Itunes Account Email Addresses

I have two itunes accounts: one of them has all of my information while the other one is not even registered (I haven't put in any billing information or created an apple ID). I want to change the email address of one account (all my information) to the email address of the other account, but I am not able to switch the email addresses because I cannot have one email for two accounts at any time! How will I be able to switch the email addresses? Please help!

I changed my google account email address over a year ago, but Firefox continues to remember my old one, despite repeated cache/cookie clearing, forcing me to retype in my email everytime I need to log in. How do I get rid of that old email?

I have a google account that I use mostly for the calendar. Occasionally I'm taken to the log in page (my time has expired, or someone else has logged in on my computer to their google account). On the log in page, the email address that Firefox remembers is an email address that I have not used in over a year (although it was the first email I used when I opened my google account). I have deleted that email address within google; I have cleared ALL my cookies and my entire cache numerous times and no matter -- the old email address is what Firefox remembers when I log in new.

When I got my iPhone and started using the iCloud, it was with an older email address - but everything's been working OK. I have since created a newer Apple ID associated with my recent email address.
Recently I updated my billing address on the credit card I use ot pay for the iCloud service, but when I try to update my iClous setting on my iPad or iPhone, they both have the older Apple ID email addresses and everytime I try to reset that password, I never get the confrimation email.
Any sugesstions?

Yes you can change the email that you use for your iTunes account, but what I was saying is that you cannot change it to the me address that you use with your mobile me account. It isn't absolutely necessary that you use the same account for all Apple services, it may well help a little in remembering your login details, however unless you migrate your MobileMe account to an iCloud account and use it for your iCloud services you will not be able to use your me address.

No, as long as you want to share the same account for iCloud's services like Mail, Calendars, Contacts, Reminders, Notes, iCloud, Documents etc.
I personally would create two accounts so that everyone could have and use heir own mail account, address book, create meetings, reminders etc. without reading and deleting stuff of the other person.

Your purchases are permanently tied to the Apple ID (account) used to purchase them. They can't be moved to another account and you can merge accounts. You can start making new purchases with your iCloud ID if you want, but you will end up with two sets of purchases under two different IDs, adding further complication to your life.
Also, your @icloud email address is an alias of your existing @me address; emails sent to either address will be routed to the same inbox. You can decide which one you want to use as your default (as discussed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5441) but you can't separate them.

I changed my apple id email address last week, not a problem I just entered the correct info on my 6 apple devices for FaceTime, AppStore and iTunes.
The issue now, is that I have changed my appleid password so that the kids couldn't install any apps and charge my credit card.
Now I am getting an icloud authorisation error, it is telling me that the account (old apple id) or password are incorrect.
What have I done and how can I fix it?

I FOUND THE SOLUTION!
I had the same exact problem. I had my old apple ID connected to a school email which did not exist anymore. My ipad was prompting me to put the password in for that ID and I could not delete it from my ipad because the "Find My Ipad" was turned on, once again prompting for password. I called apple and they said this Apple no longer exists and is not in there system, which I knew already. After hours on the phone nobody could help me. Try this.
-Go to create a new Apple ID and use the same email address as the old apple ID which is locked in on your ipad
-Create a new password and all that, it will say it send a verification link to your email, in my case my email no longer exists so I could not do this
- I called Apple to explain this problem and I asked if they could verify it for me, which they did after I convinced them it was worth a try. The guy told me that the verification shouldnt matter and should still be able to login but he did it anyway. You can try skipping this step but if it doesn't work then go ahead.
-Go to ICloud and click on your account, the email should be grayed out but it should allow you to change that password, put in the new password which you just created.
-This allowed me to sign in to accept the new terms and conditions but it said "unable to conncet to server" so I just backed out and went to "Delete Account" and it worked!
The whole idea is to re-create your old apple ID into Apple's system and then use that new password. The guy at Apple said tons of people called about this problem and nobody could solve it. I thanked him for helping me and he thanked me for helping him. I hope this helps you!
