HT1320 HELP WITH A OLD IPOD

On the screen of the IPOD it shows a RED circle with a line through it and it reads DO NOT DISCONNECT I can not get it to respond to anything now. It wont connect to the internet, charge on a dock, turn on or off. HELP, what do I do?

The software for the iPod should already be installed on it, and iTunes version 7 can be downloaded here.
iTunes download.
Then try another port on your computer. Some ports are not connected direct to the motherboard and do not recognize the iPod as well as those that are. Reset the iPod each time you connect it to another port.
Then try with the iPod in forced disk mode.

  • I found an old Apple id on a computer I use infreqently with an old Ipod.  I have the the Applie ID, but I do not have the password.  In addition,my email account has changed since I created this Applie ID. How can I get reset info to new email address?

I found an old Applie ID on a computer I use infreqently with an old IPod.  I do not have the password for this AppleID.  When I use the procedure to reset the password, I cannot receive the email as my email address has changed from the original used with the Apple ID.  How can I get the reset information sent to my current email addres so I can establish a new passwod for this Applie ID?

FR Tecmobility is wrong, sure he means well but what he suggests will not work - signing out of iTunes Store and back in will have no effect on iCloud. Try the steps at iOS 7: If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud
You may need to contact apple tech support if none of the password change methods work for you. Ask for Account Security. They will need to verify identity, to ensure you are who you claim to be. If that goes well, they can send a password rest e-mail to any e-mail you desigate, so make sure it is one you can access.  Then reset the password. Then you can delete the iCloud account (needs the password to turn off find My Phone/Activation lock)
keep data on phone, then sign in with your desired apple ID. Good luck. hope you get this sorted out.

    Yes
Put all the music on one computer, make sure it is authorized for all accounts, sync.

  • Sync problems with my old iPod

I have an older iPod.  I physically sync it with my MacBook Calendar  through iTunes because it is a version that is too old to automatically sync with iCloud.  I have iCloud on my MacBook and the iCloud calendar shows up when I have it clicked. However, my iPod will only sync the appointments that are in the iCal calendar and will not sync with any of the iCloud calendar appointments.  How do I get the iCal calendar to sync with iCloud calendar?  This has to be done so that I can sync with my old iPod.

    - So you tried everthing here:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    - Does it charge?
    - Have you tried another cable?
    - Try a known good compuuter.
    - Reset the iPod, nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • What apps are compatible with on old iPod touch?

What apps are compatible with on old iPod touch? Running iOS 4

To more easily find compatible apps:
iOSSearch - search the iTunes store for compatible apps.
Apple Club - filter apps by iOS version.
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

  • HT1386 I accidentally synced my new iPad with an old iPod Touch Device, can I undo that? How?

I just got my iPad a half hour ago and by mistake instead of listing it as a new iPad I clicked sync with an old ipod touch. What do I do?!!?

If you want to start all over again - erase it - if that is what you are asking. Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and Settings.
If you have a backup of another iPad, restore from that backup and sync again with iTunes. Connect the iPad to your computer, launch iTunes, right click on the iPad name on the left side under devices and select - Restore from backup. Select the iPad backup from the pop up window and then sync with iTunes after the iPad finishes restoring,

  • How do I return my iPhone 4 back to the way it was after I accidentally backed it up with my old iPod's information, and now all my contacts, messages, and photos are all gone?

So I went to plug my iPhone into my computer, automatically pulling up iTunes/iTunes Store. I notice that the computer isn't recognizing my iPhone, so I look at my phone and see that it is asking me if I want to trust this computer so I click yes. Then on the computer on iTunes it asks me if I want to save it as a new device (which I should've done) or save it as a previous device (and showed the names of other devices) and I picked the save as previous device under my old iPod, thinking that it would just save it and not mess with anything (mind you, I have never backed this iPhone up before)... So I wait for it to finish saving, and when it is I realize my phone looks nothing the same as it was when it was my iPhone a few minutes ago (except all the apps I hade downloaded unto the actual iPhone) and now looked like my old iPod. It deleted all of my contacts (except ones synced from Facebook), photos (but had all the photos from my old iPod), and deleted every message I had had with someone. I know I made a mistake, and I honestly don't know if this is something that can even be fixed... But I need to at least try.! So if someone could help, I would appreciate you a lot!

The first time an iPhone is connected to iTunes that is used to sync with another iPhone or iOS device, you are prompted to transfer the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device or to set up the iPhone as a new iPhone.
The former does as provided - it transfers the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device to the iPhone replacing all data on the iPhone that is included with the backup being transferred. The latter does nothing allowing you to make your various selections for the iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
This is designed to be done right away with a new iPhone.
If you don't have a backup for the iPhone with iTunes on your computer and don't have an iCloud backup that hasn't been updated since choosing to transfer the backup for your iPod Touch to the iPhone, the data that was on the iPhone is gone.

  • How can I recover texts & contacts on iPhone 5c after syncing it with an old iPod touch backup?

I used to have an old LG flip-phone and an iPod Touch. I lost the iPod Touch about six months ago. This week I got my iPhone. I had to go to the Verizon store to have them take all the contacts off the LG phone and put them onto my iPod.
I had painstakingly pared down my iTunes music library to choice selection of checked items that were small enough to fit on the iPod touch. I didn't want to go through that process again, so I hooked my iPhone up to my computer for the first time, opened iTunes, and synced with the iPod touch backup on my computer. It would have been smart to have backed up the iPhone first, but I didn't. Since I couldn't text with the iPod Touch, it didn't occur to me that the existing texts on my iPhone would be overwritten.
Now all the media files and apps from my old iPod Touch are on my new iPhone 5. The new iPhone apps I downloaded yesterday are on there, too. But the contacts and texts have vanished.
To review: no iTunes backup of iPhone data. No iCloud backup, either-- I've never used iCloud before.
I downloaded Wondershare's iPhone Data Recovery program and used it to scan data on the device. The scan shows 0 contacts and only the 2 text messages that I've received this evening. Curiously, it does have my entire call history from the last week.
So is there any way to recover the texts from this last week?
This seems pretty hopeless but I thought I'd try. Thank for your help.

You are correct. There is no other way to recover this material, and yes it would have been a good idea to backup the iPhone prior to the restore. Remember that a restore to a previous date deletes everything on the device and puts it back to the state of things on the date you choose. The texts and contacts would be gone. Did you possibly sync the contacts with a supported application on the computer? That is the only other way to recover contacts. They are designed to be synced with a supported application on the computer, or with a cloud service such as iCloud, Google or Yahoo.

  • TS1410 Help with 2nd generation iPod.

  • Help with folders on ipod

Okay, recently I ran into a problem where my ipod would randomly skip most of the songs on it. The song titles and song lengths were there, but it would just skip right over it. I told my friend about it, and he said that someone had screwed around with the folders you see when you open the iPod through My Computer (I have Windows XP). He suggested that the sources of the songs might have been messed around with and the iPod couldn't locate the source of the songs, and that I might be able to get it working if I could put the files and folders back in order. I was wondering of any of you could help me with this. These are the folders and the files inside the folders as they are now:
    - Calendars: Empty
    - Contacts: Empty
    - Notes: One file called .DS_STORE (7kb), one called Instructions, and three word documents I saved on it.
    - .Trashes: One Folder called 501: one file called ._501
    - 501 (another folder called 501): contains one file called ._501 and another called .DS_STORE (larger at 22kb).
    - Digidesign Databases: one file called ._.VolumeIcon.icns (1kb), one called .ipodcontrol, ._.VolumeIcon.icns (35kb), and one called volume.ddb.
    That's it.
As I said before, my friend suggested that the problems I have with listening to some tracks may be caused by these folers and files being all out of place, so if any one could help me put them in their proper place, perhaps I could recover these songs. Thanks in advance.

If all your music is on itunes and that plays fine I'd just reformat my ipod and restore the music files from iTunes. I'm assuming that your iTunes library matches what's on your iPod - if it doesn't I would be retisent to try and recover what's on your ipod using one of the many third party tools to update /mirror iTunes.

  • What to do with an old iPod

I have an old iPod classic. 40GB circa 2003. I don't need it, it's just been sitting in a drawer for a couple of years. It works intermittently. I guess you could call it "faulty".
Is there anything I can do with it, besides chucking it in the bin? I don't want to keep it or repair it? Do people buy these for any reason?
    Thanks

    Hey there,
You could sell it on ebay. There are numerous people out there who buy old iPods that are broken, either to repair them, or use them for parts to repair another iPod. Usually they will pay a pretty decent price for them too. Just do a search on ebay for broken iPods and you will see there are quite a few up for sale on there. Just make sure that if you do, that you do your best to describe exactly what is wrong with it and mention that it could also be used for parts.
You could always recycle it through Apple as well.
