  • My iPod fell down the toilet....

...erm, ya. I was trying to throw something away and the iPod slipped out of my hand and fell into the toilet. I got it out in about 1 second and it was on and playing still. I dried it off as fast as possible and tried to turn it off, but the lock was on and wouldn't turn off. I tried plugging it in (Oops.) and this message came on the iPod's screen, but I couldn't read it because it was too dark. so i left it alone and it is standing upright right now and it has been for about a day and i has not been touched since. What elese should I do and how long should i keep it like it is right now? I there any hope for my iPod??? Thanx bunches!!!
      Windows XP

OK, I left it alone for a week then tried to turn it
on. it didnt work. so i left it alone for about
another day. and then i tried to turn it on. didnt
work. so i tried to plug it in. no luck. my ipod is
dead. end of story. just a piece of advise for
everyone- NEVER take you iPod near a bathroom, sink
or anything having to do with water, i'll waste all
your money that you paid for it (in my case
    $300)!!!!!!
I think i know the cause(s) of death to your iPod
    A) It not being turned off right after retrieving it (Caused by the hold swich)
    B) Plugging it in after words (the main problem)
When you plugged it in was probably the end of story due to the large amount of power entering the iPod although it seems you are a bit luckier than other i know who have done the same thing and after doing so not only didn't have an iPod but also didn't have a computer (Fried the main board)
Sorry to hear you lost your iPod, although there is a good reason to step up to an new 80GB!

What happens when you connect it to your computer (or just to a power adapter)?  Anything on the screen?

  • My iPod fell into the toilet!!

its a second generation, 8 gig ipod. it dosnt work at all so i put it into a bag of rice to suck all the water out. any tips? can it be repaired and if so for how much?

Change the rice daily for a week. Then:
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Place the iOS device in recovery mode using this program

http://jaxov.com/2010/05/recboot-iphone-recovery-mode/and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.
Enter DFU mode without home button or Power Button | technoNix

    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

    Hello jthompsonn25,
I'm sorry to hear about your iPhone and the issues you are having with Messages on your Mac. If you are trying to send iMessage messages in Messages, your iMessage account should be tied to your Apple ID (same account name and password). If you are having password issues in Messages, you may want to verify that you have the correct password by logging in to your Apple ID directly:
    Apple - My Apple ID
If you are unable to or are still getting an error message with your password, you may need to reset the password on your Apple ID. If that is the case, you may find the following article helpful:

    Sincerely,

  • My phone fell down the toilet. can i use my sim card in new phone

My iphone 5s fell down the toilet last week. I took out my sim card after the event and dried it. I now have a new phone and have placed the original sim card into it. Should i download the i cloud information or do i need to get a new sim? could this sim in any way damage my new iphone? thanks

The SIM shouldn't damage your new phone. There is a good chance it will work just fine. In the event that it doesn't, just get a replacement from your carrier.

  • My iphone 4 fell in the toilet 4 days ago and it's been drying in rice since.  now when i plug it in, the screen remains black  but it will vibrate.  is this a good sign or is all hope lost for getting it to work again?

My iphone 4 fell in the toilet 4 days ago and has been drying in rice ever since.  I tried plugging it in today and the screen remained black but it did vibrate when i switched it to vibrate.  Is that a good sign?  Or should I just give up hope already?

well good sign or good sign maybe a strong word
it mean that not all of the device have been damaged by the fluid
but it does not really mean that the screen will ever work again
when drying in rice make sure you don't
1 conceal it so the vapor can't escape or it will not dry enough
2 make sure to leave in on a heating source like a heated floor or radiator to speed up the proccess of the vaporising

  • My phone will not  reset because it fell in the toilet

my old iphone will npot reset since it fell in the toilet and i have to reset it before i send it back

When an iPhone get submerged in water the last thing you want to do is try to turn it on.  The water could cause the electronics to short out and permanently ruin the iPhone.  Most people that drop their iPhone in water try to fully dry out the phone by fist trying to remove any water by airing it out and pouring it out.  Then they place it in a bag with rice and let it remain there for at least three days.  Then, and only then would you want to try and turn the iPhone on.  Many times it will then work, but unfortunately also frequently it still will not work properly and need service or replaced.

  • My ipod fell in the water

last yesterday my ipod fell in the pool it worked but it was blury then it turned off and i just left it sit then yesterday i tryed conneting it but it does not do any thing..............what do i do know....????????

    Hi,
First, make sure do not plug your iPod neither with your computer or ac charger.
Leave it at the dry place for at least a week, and bear in mind that do not use hot/warm air blower to shorten the drying period.

The screen is not broken outside... i cant do nothing(cant even turn if off)..can i fix this? if yes how much will it cost ??(p.s im in italy)

Apple does not repair iPods, but will replace the entire iPod for a flat fee; see the Repair Pricing section here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/faq/
There are independent iPod repair services that may be able to replace the screen for less. Do a web search for "ipod repair". Note, though, that if you elect to have the iPod serviced by an unauthorized shop, all further warranty will be void.

  • I dropped my ipod 4 into the toilet. I tried turning it on twice, stupidly. Then put it in rice. Is there any hope for my ipod? and if not is there a way to get all 1500 of my photos? Pleaaase help!!!

Hello i dropped my ipod in the toilet (clean water). Once i took it out of the toilet i pressed the home button and within a second it shut off! :( I quickly dried it with a towel and accidently pressed the top button!  D: and put it immediatly into a bag of rice. 3-4 hours passes and i tried to turn it on nothing happened.  I honestly tjougjt it would be dry...stupidly! and now its on the rice and has been in there for an hour since the last time i triwd turnong it on. Is there any hope that my ipod will be okay? and if not could it be repaired? How much is it to repair? One more question what will happen to my photos, is there a way i could atleast get my photos?!? Please please please help!!!!!! please!!!

Hey Posada143, You can still try the rice thing, but do not expect much, as roaminggnome has stated. The rice only works if you do it ASAP and leave the iPod off-- do not attempt use, turn on or charge until it is completely dried out. This is probably academic at this point but remember this for the next time: The drying can take 10 days. You put the uncooked rice and iPod in a sealed bag, change the rice every couple of days. This creates a low humidity environment and draws the moisture out of the iPod, but it takes time. Turn your iPod on to earlier, and you run the risk of shorting out, damaging the components inside. Even if done correctly it can spotty. If you do get the iPod to work (and this may require Resetting, Restoring or attempting to place it in DFU recover mode) the first thing you do is make backups, because you never know how long it will continue to work. As for your pictures, if you can't get your iPod to work, you can try data retrieval companies, however; there is no guaranty it will work and it tends to be very expensive. In the future get in the habit of as making backups, because you just don't know. And invest in and use a water tight case. Hope this helps, Good luck. Cheers.
