HT1329 Trying to transfer playlist from iPod nano (gen4) to a new windows computer with iTunes.

We are trying to connect a iPod Nano (gen4) to a new Win7 computer.  The iPod doesn't show up on iTunes and the message says that it can't be synched to a another computer.  There are more playlist on the iPod that are not on the computer.  How do I connect this iPod to the new Win7 box and transfer the playlist to iTunes.

  • Itunes closes when trying to transfer purchases from ipod or iphone

Using a PC with Vista.  Installed iOS 5 this morning.  Cannot update either ipod touch 3g or iphone 3g with software update until "prior purchases are transferred to itune" - unfortunately every time I try to "transfer the prior purchases" Itunes closes completely.  I've been working on this for hours now.  Anyone got any ideas how to get around this?
    Thanks.

Your Post is a bit confusing

If you are using iTunes, you cant transfer purchases in the iPod to the Mac, you need 3rd Party Software.

Just bought Ipad mini and trying to transfer DragonVale from Ipod.  How do I do this?

Redownload it from the iTunes Store or sync it from an iTunes library which contains it. If you want to transfer its data as well, back up the iPod and then restore the backup to the iPad mini.

ipod nano 5 resets but won't sync with itunes on two different pc's

What happens when you try? Does the iPod even appear in iTunes?  Have you tried a different cable or different USB ports on each PC?

  • How can I transfer photos from my Mac Book Pro to my windows computer?

How can I transfer photos from my Mac Book Pro to my windows computer.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Transfer them to an external disk formatted in "MS-DOS (FAT)" with Disk Utility > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU1.html
If you have the pictures in iPhoto, choose them with the Command key, go to File menu (on the menu bar) > Export, and copy them to the external disk. Then, connect your external disk to the PC and move them.
If you have the pictures in Finder, steps are the same, but in this case, you will have to drag the pictures you chose to the external disk that you can find in the Finder sidebar, under "Devices"

  • How to transfer files from ipod nano to itunes

how do I transfer files from my ipod nano (5th gen) to a new computer.  All old files on old computer gone.
    Thanks

You can only transfer music bought from the iTunes store in both directions, i.e. computer to iPod and iPod to computer.  Other music that you've ripped from CDs you own or that you've downloaded from somewhere other than the iTunes store can only be transferred in one direction, i.e. computer to iPod.  You cannot transfer it from iPod to computer.
That said, there is however third party software that you can buy that will transfer files from the iPod to the computer.  Google will help you on that.  Also read this article:

  • Transfer Playlist from iPod

    Hello,
I use an other PC, but I saved the music on a external hard drive. Now, I can listen to the songs, but I want to have my old playlists!
Is it possible to transfer the playlists from iPod to iTunes. I don't want to copy the music, only the playlists!
My old PC isn't available any more!
    Thanks in advance!

Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.

  • Ipod Nano does not appear in "My Computer" and "Itunes"

I was charging my Ipod Nano. I erased all the songs from the nano to create a new playlist. The Ipod froze in the "Do not disconnect" phase. It was disconnected a few hours later (not intentionally). Now it has disappeared from Itunes and the computer does not recognize it. The Ipod screen still says "Do not Disconnect". I have tried to reconnect the device many times. I have tried to "toggle the hold button" and even shut the computer down and restarted it to see if it would recognize the ipod. No luck. I cannot turn the ipod on and the screen is still dark and the "Do Not Disconnect" seems to be perminant. HELP!

See if any of these articles help.

  • Burn playlist from ipod nano  urgent

    ipod nano too full
need to take a few playlist off ipod
they will not drag to library
    or other playlist
i tried to burn them to cd
    but it wont highlight
i tryed new playlist but songs wont drag over

You would have to move the songs onto your computer from your iPod first and then burn them from your computer. iTunes cannot burn the songs if they are only on the iPod.
You can use free software such as this to move the music from iPod to computer...

  • Help needed... Trying to transfer music from ipod to new laptop

I have a 5th generation 30GB ipod with 14GB of music on and I want to transfer the tracks to my new PC rather than having to copy all the CDs to it. I have tried connecting it through itunes and although it show under my devices and I can play the tracks through itunes it won't let me move or copy the tracks to my libary. I have checked the preference and they seem to be all ok.. I am running itunes 7 on the laptop and the ipod software is all up to date. Please can someone help me

If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers has been introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. The procedure is a bit involved and it won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. This is just a selection, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

  • How can you transfer photos from iPod Nano to new iMac?

My friend has an ipod nano. Here's a photo, not sure what gen. it is.
He had a PC that no longer works and has no data left on it. His original iPod Photos were stored on that PC that no longer works.
He has since purchased an iMac and is running Lion OS X, all up to date.
The problem: He NO LONGER has the ORIGINAL PHOTOS, only the ones on his iPod Nano, that used to work with his PC, which no longer functions.
He would like to copy the photos stored on his iPod Nano, to his new iMac.
Using finder, he went to Device, then clicked PHOTOS and dragged the folder to his desktop. It said there was 1.43 GB of content.
However, all that was saved to the desktop was (see other photo) Photo Cache, Photo Database and Thumbs. There are no photos at all. What is he doing wrong? Thanks.

There are a number programs out there for recovering photos from an iPod, have a look at the ones below. If you search the internet you can find more. Just be aware that what you'll be recovering will be photos optimised for the iPod so they won't be the same quality as the original full resolution versions:
    iPodPhotoCopy Windows only
    CopyPodPhoto Windows only
Tansee iPod Transfer Photo Windows only
iPod Photo Liberator Mac & Windows
TouchCopy Mac and Windows Versions (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
If you have full resolution copies of the photos on the iPod have a look here: Apple Knowledge Base article - Use Disk Mode to copy photos from iPod
