Install the latest version of iTunes on your computer.
Start iTunes on your computer. Go to the view menu and select View > Show Sidebar.
Connect your iPad to your computer.
Select your iPad in the left column.
Select Music in the right side of iTunes.
Then make selections to either select all music or select the playlists you want on your iPad.
Then click on Apply or Sync in the lower right corner of iTunes.

Connect the iPad to your computer and select it on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, and then use the Movies tab on the right-hand side of iTunes to select and sync your film the iPad's Videos app. If it says that it isn't compatible with the iPad then try doing Advanced > Create iPad Version and then try syncing that version over.

I have music in my laptop in itune folder. How do I transfer music from itune in laptop to itune in ipad2.

If you have iTunes installed on the computer, you have to make sure it is the current version.
Just run iTunes and go to "File > Check for Update" to check whether your iTunes is the latest one. Then, use USB cable to connect iPad with computer as well.
After iTunes recognize your iTunes, just hit "iPad" tab under the "DEVICE" section of the iTunes sidebar. On the right screen, you can see a new window to list you all categories of iPad. Just hit "Music" tab. Check the box next to "Sync Music" and click the circle next to "Entire music library" or "Selected playlists, artists and genres." Click the boxes next to specific artists, playlists and genres if you want to sync specific music to your iPad.
Now, you may press the "Apply" button in the bottom-right corner of the main iTunes screen, followed by "Sync" in the same area to transfer the music to your iPad.

  • How to transfer ipod files to itunes

I'm sorry if this has already been posted or is in the wrong category. Recently I had to do a system recovery and unfortunately I didn't know about the backup in iTunes. So now all my music files are gone. I'm afraid to sync my ipod because all the files might be gone from my ipod and then I would have to download everything all over again. Is there any way to transfer ipod files to iTunes? I've tried to use programs but 2 of them can't detect my ipod and one will only do the first 5 files. Please and Thank you.

First of all, do not sync your iPod with iTunes until you have recovered everything from it or you'll erase everything.
Open iTunes first and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and check the box "Prevent iPods and iPhones from syncing automatically" and choose Ok. Then connect your iPod.
iTunes will only give you the option to copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
Purchased applications can be downloaded over again, see this article for details: How to redownload purchased applications from the App Store
For everything else (music from CDs etc.) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod Touch or iPhone. Make sure the ones you have looked at are compatible with the iPod Touch, if that compatibility isn't specified that would explain any that don't recognise the device. Also, unless the program is completely free, they usually only allow you to transfer a limited number of tracks to demonstrate their capabilities, to do more you need to purchase a license for the program.
A selection of iPod/iPhone to iTunes utilities:
Senuti Mac Only (iPod Touch & iPhone compatible)
SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPodRip Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
Music Rescue Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
One last thing, if your iPod is set to sync automatically you need to take care connecting to an empty iTunes. Open iTunes first and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and check the box "Prevent iPods and iPhones from syncing automatically" and choose Ok before connecting your device.
I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

Connecting the iPod will not delete any songs on the laptod or on your desktop.

My powerbook was stolen. I have noew a replacement but when i plug in the 30 gb ipod it tells me ts the wrong computer. How can I get the new computer to be "the one" the ipod can recognise. I imagined you could go into your account and transfer by providing certain information, but perhaps that was naive of me.
Can anyone assist me - There has to be a way!!

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. This is just a small selection of what's available, you can read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Senuti Mac Only
    PodView Mac Only
    PodWorks Mac Only
iPodDisk PPC Mac Only (experimental version available for Intel Macs)
    iRepo Mac & Windows
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac & Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac & Windows
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

Is it your laptop, or your friends? If it belongs to your friend, it would be illegal for you to put your music onto it.

  • How to transfer iPod to second computer

I set up my iPod Touch on my laptop. I was able to tansfer my purchased music and videos onto my main computer, but what is the easiest way to transfer my complete music library (non-purchased) on my iPod to my iTunes library on my main computer?

This is what worked for me.
Okay, I have read on a lot of different threads that people want to know how to copy media from their iPod to their computer. Many have recommended YamiPod, but here is an alternative that is only for the Windows users.
1). Be sure Hidden Files and Folders are visible on your computer
    - Open My Computer
    - Tools>Folder Options
    - Switch to the View Tab
    - Be sure that Show Hidden Files and Folders is selected
For a mac, open terminal and type in:
    defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles YES
2). Connect Your iPod to the computer
3). Goto My Computer and open the iPod Disk Directory (F:, G:, etc.)
    [on the desktop for mac]
    4). Open iPod_Control
5). Copy the entire Music folder to your desktop
NOTE: This may take up to 2 hours or more depending on the number of files
    6). Eject iPod
7). Right Click On the Music folder on desktop [ctrl+click for mac]
    - Properties
    - uncheck "Hidden"
    - Apply to all subfolders and files
    8). Open iTunes
    9). Goto iTunes Preferences
10). Change your iTunes Library to the Music Folder on your Desktop by going to preferences > advanced > then click the change button on the general tab
11). Add the folder to your "new" Library
12). Check "Keep iTunes Library Folder Organized
    13). Click OK
    14). Close and restart iTunes
15). Switch your iTunes Library back to what it was before
16). Delete The Contents of the Library, being sure NOT to move files to Recycle Bin
    17). Close iTunes
18). For Mac users, open terminal again and type:
    defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles NO
The Music Folder on your desktop now contains an organized directory of all media on your iPod!! I hope this tutorial helps out for those who wanted to know!

  • How to transfer photos from laptop to iPad

How do I transfer photos from my laptop to my IPad?

If you have iTunes 11 on your computer then you can enable the left-hand sidebar via View > Show Sidebar (option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC).
To sync photos, connect and select your iPad on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes, and on the right-hand side there should be a series of tabs, one of which should be Photos - if you select that tab you can then select which photo folders to sync to the iPad. You will need to sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go as only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad - synced photos can't be deleted directly in the iPad's Photos app, instead they are deleted by not including them in the next photo sync.
