HT1338 Can i download Mac OS X 10.6?

Hello, I am tryin to update my OS X from OS X 10.5.8 to 10.6 or higher. I just had surgery so i cannot leave my house and need this imediatly so I can not wait for the mailed version to come in. Is there anyway i can purchase this software and download it to update my operating system. If this is possible, my other question to you is would I be able to burn the software to a disk as a back up if I come into any problems. If not, would the download always be accessable to me so i can back my system up if needed? Please get back to me ASAP! thank you!

Quit the App Store if it's open.
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar top of your screen click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
Click Go then move the NetworkInterfaces.plist file from the SystemConfiguration folder to the Trash.
Relaunch the App Store and try downloading Mountain Lion.

  • I can't download Mac App Store

I can't download Mac App Store using OS X 10.6.8 following Apple's downloading procedure--the Mac App Store icon never appears in the dock or anywhere else!Mac App Store

You don't update from 10.6.3 by using the App Store. You use Software Update for that. Then after using Software Update to get to 10.6.8, you'll have the latest version of the App Store.
I don't see how this issue relates to your iPad.

  • Where can i download mac os 10.6.7 update

Download page here http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1363 does not work.

You cannot download any version of Snow Leopard itself. In your case you can only update to 10.6.8 using Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
To go past Snow Leopard to Lion or Mavericks:
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mavericks
You can upgrade to Mavericks from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mavericks can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
    Upgrading to Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Mavericks from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mavericks is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
        OS X Mavericks- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.

  • HT2261 how can i download mac osx 10.5

hi i want to download mac osx 10.5 how can i do

Note, MacBook Pros newer than October 26, 2007 may need to watch out which 10.5 installer disk they get.
Apple released 10.5.1, 10.5.4, and 10.5.6 as retail releases.    Given the fact that Apple has 10.6 available and it is compatible with more applications than 10.5, and has more current security updates available, I would say that for MacBook Pros it is far better to purchase 10.6, and bring it up to 10.6.8, than buy any version of 10.5.  Only a few applications can run on 10.5 only.  Everything you needed to know about 10.6 is here:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2455
If you don't rely that heavily on old software you may want to jump straight to 10.7 or later after that:

  • Can I download mac apps?

I have a Mac OS X 10.5.8. Can I download the mac app store to my laptop?

No. You need to upgrade to 10.6.6 or later to access the App Store.
If you need to purchase Snow Leopard contact Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service. The price is $29.00 plus tax. You will receive physical media - DVD - by mail.
Third-party sources for Snow Leopard are:
    Snow Leopard from Amazon.com
    Snow Leopard from eBay
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store.
    Snow Leopard General requirements
Mac computer with an Intel processor
    1GB of memory
    5GB of available disk space
    DVD drive for installation
Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.

  • Can I download mac os on more than one computer?

Just was wondering - I have an imac with Snow Leopard, my wife has an older macbook with "leopard" I think.  Can I download my Snow Leopard on her computer?
    Thanks
    Stephen

Not unless it is the Snow Leopard Family Pack.
The Snow Leopard that came with your iMac will only work on that specific model of iMac.
The license also doesn't allow you to do that.
My suggestion would be to wait for Lion and buy a Family Pack. However, the retail Snow Leopard is only $30, so, depending on what portions of Snow Leopard she needs and how important it is to have it now, you may want to buy a single-user license to install on here MacBook.
I don't know when Lion will be released, but likely this summer or fall.

  • HT1338 can't download adobe flash on osx mountain lion

can't download adobe flash on osx mountain lion

Here are the steps to successful Flash install that work every time for me.
Initially, download latest Adobe Flash PlayerAdobe location only!
Once it is downloaded, quit all browsers, and system preferences (if open) - this part is crucial.Installer will download to the Stack, next to your Trash icon in the Dock
Click once on the Stack to open it.
Click once on the Flash Installer to open the installer.
Double-click on the red Install Adobe Flash Player icon
Agree, by choosing open on the pop-up dialog
Enter your login password to proceed.
    Installed
The Flash browser plug-in is installed
The Flash system preferences panel is installed
Remove Adobe Flash Player installer from desktopRight contextual menu on installer icon - Eject “Adobe Flash Player Installer”
The System Preferences Flash panel has an Advanced setting. On the advanced setting tab screen is a Delete All... button. This cleans up all the Flash carcasses left on your system after browsing and/or movie events. Sometimes, this actually clears up an otherwise unexplained browser behavior. I consider this just as important as clearing browser cache.
From this point forward, you can also check for new Flash Player releases from this panel too. Once the update has downloaded, again, exit all browser sessions and make certain System Preferences is closed. If it is open during the install, the install will fail.

  • HT1338 can i install mac os x server on a mac mini?

I would like to know if i can install a mac os x server on the latest mac mini : http://store.apple.com/us/configure/MD388LL/A?
I just dont see where the 200 USD difference between model goes to ? !!!
Plus I would like to upgrade the RAM to 16gb (using corsair memory) , as apple RAM upgrade is way to much...
    Thank you
    Alex

The software is no different, you can just purchase server off of the app store. Where the extra money goes for the server mini, is the second internal hard drive. if you are just running a home server or a simple set up of sorts, the app will do you just fine for 19.99.
As with the RAM upgrade. as long as the Corsair memory you have is the same bus speed(1600MHz DDR3), it will work fine.

  • HT1338 can't download this app

    Trying to download this app.
I have brought logic Pro app about a year ago is there anyway that
I can re-download this onto my computer without purchasing it again?

Is the version available now the same version you had purchased? If so, you should be able to see it in your Purchases. However, if a new/different version has been introduced since then, the old one will no longer be available. Unless you made a copy of the installer or have a backup, you will no longer be able to install the old one.
