I'd love to use my iPad when traveling, and be able to do the Washington Post sudokus and crosswords. Without Java, they don't appear on screen. Can I get Java for my iPad to enable me to play?

What country are you in ? I can find it here in the UK store and it's also in the US store - search for 'snapchat', and then on the results screen tap the 'iPad only' button at the top left and select 'iphone only' instead (the app is optimised for the smaller iPhone-sized scren, so won't show in the 'iPad only' view).

Nope. The iPad (and iPhone and iPod touch) cannot execute Java applets. It's a limitation in iOS from the beginning (just like lack of Flash). You will either need to use a desktop computer or access a desktop computer via RDP or VNC to access that page on iPad.mIn short: there is no native way to use a Java applet on iOS.

After Time Warner changed my modem, I can't get wifi for my iPad

I use iMac 10.6.8 and Airport Extreme 5th generation.
ISP is Time Warner cable and used RCA modem (very old) connected with Airport Extreme.
I could use iPad and iPod Touch using wifi well via Airport.
However, since the internet speed was very slow, the Tech guy from Time Warner came and changed my Modem to ARRIS DG1670.
Since then, even though the Internet via Mac become faster, I had no wi-fi and can't use both iPad and iPod. I even can not use the Printer without USB cable.
The both device show my Wi-fi network name but could not get the connection.
I called Time Warner and they told I have to configure my router (Airport Extreme) to match the new modem and have to contact Apple to ask how to configure.
When I go to "Network" from the system preference and see the AirPort , it says Self-Assigned IP on the left side box and on the right side, the Status is ON but
tells "Airport has the self-assigned IP address 169.254.XXX.XX and will not be able to connect to the internet".
When I clicked the Ethernet, it show Connected and the IP is like 69.86.XX.XXX and the Router is 69.86.XX.X
However, when I check the Airport Utility, the IP is like 69.86.XX.XXX and totally different from the "Network" info. (169.254.XXX.XX).
How can I configure it for the new modem?
Should I reset to the Manufacture Default setting? If so, I have to start from Reset button on the backside of Airport?
Is there anyone can help? Thank you.

Yes, it worked. First, I just replaced the all info. as before, the router IP also (Stupid) , not success.
So, I created the new network, then, the Router IP automatically showed up .
I think the old setting still there under my Airport station (so, 2 setting right now)?
Anyway, my iPad and iPod touch works well with the new wi-fi network.

Firefox from mozilla.org is for desktop Windows, Linux and Mac OSX. Also there is mobile Firefox for Android.
There is no version for iOS due to restrictions though there is something coming for iOs in future, not certain if it will be a sync app like the old Firefox Home or a shell browser.

I browsed the net but seems almost impossible. When I visited Toronto I was able to get data thru Koodo but I don't think this is offered in the USA. Looking more closely, I realized that there is a PHP script that will actually take the data from the forms and use it. How can I get Java to enter the data on the forms automatically and then run this PHP script? I don't need code, just a pointer in the right direction should do.

If you are writing a program to submit a form,how come the PHP script come out of nowhere ? At this momemnt you are just writing some Java program,isn;t it ?
My feeling is you are trying to edit some pre-written code.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
