HT1338 cannot connect Bose Sound Link speakers to macbook pro retina

I'm trying to use my Bose Sound Link Bluetooth speaker with my Mac Book Pro Retina.  Bluetooth says linked, but will not connect.
Bose Web site says consult Mac documentation and try again.

Look what I found in another post. It worked!

Re: I am having problems pairing my Bose soundlink with my macbook pro
Apr 21, 2012 9:06 PM (in response to Jrex1959)
I talked with a Bose rep about problems pairing with Lion, and got this answer, which has since worked every time.
1. Turn on the Bose
2. Tap the Bluetooth button the Bose (not holding it for 3 seconds), and it should start a slow blink.
3. On your computer, click on the Bluetooth icon, hover over the Bose Soundlink name, and select that you'd like to "Use As Audio Device"
4. Press Play on whatever audio or video you're trying to listen to. It will take a second, but should connect.
It has also worked when I've tried to switch from pairing with my iPhone to pairing with my laptop...in that case, hold the Bluetooth button for 3 seconds on the Bose to make it discoverable, and then go through the same steps. The Bose rep also said they're hoping to have software update, but that it involves getting Apple's help, so he's not sure when it will happen.
Good Luck!

If you can get them paired again try making them "favorites" from the Bluetooth system preferences.
Try smc and pram reset too.  May gave to do this before you can get them paired.

Whenever I connected my Magic Mouse to my Macbook Pro Retina, the Internet does't work right away,
and while I disconnected the Mouse, it works immediately......
Does anyone has the same prob. or know why it happens?
Please help me out and thanks for your kindness!

But I tested, I clicked a link and it started loading, and when I got the Mouse connected, it stops the process and got stuck...
And I clicked a link again, now with the mouse connected, it stuck forever, and when disconnected the mouse, it immediately works!

  • Sounds in the display - Macbook pro Retina 15"

I had a problem on Macbook pro retina 15 "after 7 months of use. If you gently shake the laptop horizontally, then something starts to hang out in the display. If you press on the screen and shake - sound disappears! What could it be?? Tell me please.

Hi David.  I don't have as modern a Macbook Pro as you, mine is a 2012 model, but perhaps I can help.  I often find that my SD card will not load when I first insert it.  I have to remove it and then put it into the slot again firmly.
You also haven't posted any information about the SD card.  What size is it, do you know how it is formatted, has it worked in that same mac previously, where did it come from, does it currently work in another device (such as your camera)?  This sort of information will help to narrow down the problem.
If you post some more information I'm sure people will try to help you.  In the meantime, if you look at your post again you should see "More Like This" at the bottom of the page and you may find an answer in some of those related posts.
    Hope that helps.

  • Stay connected to the LAN when the MacBook Pro Retina is folded

    Greetings,
Question to the new MacBook Pro Retina – is it possible to stay connected to the LAN when the Mac is folded?
The reason why I am asking is that I often go from one meeting room to another meeting room.
Before with my ”normal” MacBook Pro I knew that I couldn’t – now with my new MacBook Pro Retina, I assume it should be possible (in theory at least). If it is possible – how can I set the network settings or other to make it possible?
    Please let me know

A little heat is no issue because the vent is right under the back part of the keyboard. There have been some recent reports of the fans turning on without warning for a minutes or two which will also add to the heat that you're feeling. The new ventalation system will put a little heat on the keyboard but it's okay.

  • Cannot connect (or very, very slow) to MacBook pro (1,1) as registered user

I have a Macbook Pro running Lion and a Mac Pro running lion - as well as a Macbook Pro (1,1) running Snow Leopard (although the problem also occurred in Leopard too, as I updated the OS to see if that would resolve it).
The problem is that I can connect from the SL MBP to the other computers on my network as a registered user (and see all of the files there), but when I try to connect from either of the other machines running Lion (10.7.5), I can connect as a Guest, but not as any of the registered users.
I get the connect as a registered user dialog, enter the valid info...and then the wheel of death appears in the box and nothing happens for a few minutes...then presto, I'm connected as the registered user.
Why is it not instanteous (as it is in reverse or between the Lion machines)?
What can I do to make it faster?
    Thanks
    Scott

    Hi robfromkinglake west,
Try and isolate the issue.  Check if it's only with this drive.
Check the drive with Disk Utility
Using Disk Utility to verify or repair disks

I've never seen a drive take 20 minutes to mount.

  • Cannot connect my powerbook G4 with my MacBook Pro for filesharing

I was wondering if anyone knew the problem was if when i used MIGRATION ASSISTANT between the two computers and the G4 was not reading on the MacBook Pro. Is there something wrong with my computer or is there some way to fix this?
When I held down the T button to restart and connect the two, nothing happened.

    Hi peawok
Can you clarify what it is that you're doing?
Are you rebooting the Powerbook, holding down T from the moment the screen goes black until (and if) you see the Firewire symbol on its screen? Do you see the symbol?
Or are you doing the above for the Macbook?
If you do see the symbol, and you've connected the two with a Firewire cable, do you see the drive of one computer appear on the other's desktop? If not, have you tried a different cable?
If you're just doing this for filesharing purposes, is there a reason why you can't use an ethernet/wireless network (and use Personal File Sharing under System Preferences - Sharing)?

  • Connecting HP 2311x display to new macbook pro Retina - no output on external screen

I have a brand new MacBook Pro 15 in. with Retina display.  I also have a HP 2311x monitor.  When I plug in the HDMI cable, the external monitor says "check video cable" and the preferences "arrangement" thinks there is a display - even recognizes the type - but the external display just wont display anything but the "check video cable" box.  I spent 2 hours on with apple yesterday, they had me do all sorts of resets and stuff - but no luck.  The HDMi cable works when connecting a pc to the screen.  When connected to by macbook, the screen on the macbook likes to flash black and its annoying.  I have gotten really used to working with two screens....  and apple's suggestion was to buy a thunderbolt cable and try that.  As it is, with this new macbook I have to buy a bunch of cables, I really don't want to buy another one when I am not sure that will work.  Darn things are expensive when you are buying 4 connectors at once (ethernet connector since the speed via wireless is noticably slower; magsafe to magsafe2 converter; thunderbolt for my printer; and a connector for the monitor at home which doesn't have an hdmi port).
Any other suggestions before adding another to that list? Since Apple seems to be out of ideas... any info would be appreciated.

I have an HP 2311x as well. I'm using an HDMI cable and am not having any issues getting the screen to display. I know you said the cable works with a PC but have you tried a different HDMI cable just in case. It might be worth a try. Other than that, I'm not much help.
The issue I had when plugging this monitor into my MBP retina was that the image was very blurry on the HP 2311x. I almost gave up on using it and was going to just buy a Thunderbolt display but after much research I found a custom firmware update that fixed the underscan/blurriness issue. So be prepared for that if you get the screen to display.
If I can find that resource, I will post it here.
    Good luck!

  • Clicked on a bad link on my macbook pro retina

About 2 days ago my friend created an event on Facebook which looked very suspicious. Stupidly I clicked on it and the link sent me to some health site talking about coffee beans, I knew my friend wouldn't post something like this so I quickly closed the tab. I was paranoid the whole day and figured nothing could have really happened since I heard macs rarely get viruses and other things. The site I went to never asked for passwords or email accounts. The following day my dad received a phone call from the credit card company and they notified him that someone tried to use his card to buy some stuff. That same day I changed passwords for all my emails, all my college info, all my online banking stuff and social networking passwords. I also did a factory reset on my macbook as well. I'm wondering what other steps should I take in order to make sure this is does not happen again and I'm also wondering how the hacker/virus targeted my dad's credit card and not mine (I don't have a credit card, I have a debit card). The only thing that was connected on my macbook that would link to my dad was ebay. Please let me know if I missed anything that I should change in order to stop this. Thanks for the help!

Btw when I clicked on the link my macbook was running the most up to date version of OS X mountain lion.

  • Sound Problems On My MacBook Pro (Retina)

Mysteriously, my computer started to sound very strange when playing anything sound related (See video below). Sounds like a warped "boing boing" sound throughout the music I'm playing through YouTube (it even happens in my itunes). Super hilarious, but concerning nonetheless!

Any thoughts other than software malfunctioning?? Whole system is updated, even restarted the comp, but no change

Hi Richard, I had similar problem as yours. There seems to be a problem with the intel 4000 graphic card. Try switching to NVIDIA graphic card. Just go to 'Energy Saver' in 'System Preference', and switch off the 'Automatic graphics switching'. Let me know if this solved your problems.

  • What hbmi cord do I need to connect my Macbook Pro retina display to a Windows desktop?

I'm trying to connect my Windows desktop to my Macbook Pro retina dispay so i can transfer CD's. ALthough I dont know what cord to get.

Your post is a little confusing. HDMI is for connecting video, like hooking your Mac to a TV. It sounds like you want to transfer files. If you have a wireless network, just share the folder with the music on your Windows machine and you should be able to copy it to your Mac.

  • Connecting 2 monitors to macbook pro retina

Can I connect two separate monitors to my MacBook Pro Retina - one through HDMI and the other through Thunderbolt to HDMI or DVI

Yes, it is possible to run 3 monitors at once on the Retina MacBook Pro (2 connected over Thunderbolt and one over  HDMI).
    Displays used in picture below:
Retina on laptop @ “best for Retina”
    iMac used as a display @ 2560 x 1440 via Thunderbolt
    iMac used as a display @ 2560 x 1440 via Thunderbolt/DisplayPort
    LG monitor @ 1920 x 1200 via HDMI
    Hope this answers your question.
