Could I upgrade the Graphic Card to 1GB? my current Graphic is 256.

You refer to an article about updating software. But the graphics card is hardware.
You can upgrade the graphics card on MacPros but on other Macs the graphics card is part of the processor, so it would be very costly. Also, not exactly a do-it-yourself job.

  • I'd love to get an imac but is there a way to upgrade the sound card?

I love the new imac's.. but I would need to upgrade the sound card if I got one. I have a recording studio and i'm using a delta 1010 pci card that is compatible with macs.. I can't see how it would work with an imac.. I'm also a graphic artist and use a mac for all my graphics but it's an old g4 that isn't exactly up to the task of running my studio as well.. I'm sick and tired of my crappy pc giving me grief in the studio and an imac seems like the perfect and affordable price for me.. (i definately need an intel mac so i can run boot camp or parrallels to run a few programs that aren't available on a mac... **** you adobe audition)
does any know if there's any way this will work or do i have to save my pennies for a g5 desktop? (i kinda hope not because it will take me a LONG time to do that)

ahhh.. that's what i thought.. just was hoping I was wrong. Getting a new interface is NOT an option because I just got the system I have and am extremly happy with it... I used to work with a firepod but wasn't all that impressed... I like the 1010 because it gives me more options (mixing analogue and whatnot)
thank you very much for the advice
don't have one yet   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

ps i cant do any of take it apart my self and install it i just wan to know how much it will cost going through apple
    thanks

Why do people think they are postiing in a notebook forum when if you look around, this is clearly something else.
If you really want a new Mac you have to buy one. That is part of the fun of owning laptops, they are not upgradeable.

I bought a 4G SIM activation kit on the advice of a CS rep, who said I could change out the SIM card on my Verizon Droid X (currently in use with a customer loyalty plan) and switch it to a prepaid plan. But now it appears there is no SIM card to switch out. Google search finds several others have asked that question and the Droid X doesn't have a SIM card, apparently. But, the 4G SIM activation kit "Compatibility" tab claims that it is compatible with the Droid X, so what is the real story here? Do I have to send this kit back to you?

No. Call Apple Care and give them the serial number. They may be able to tell you who it is locked to.

  • Could You upgrade the graphics card on a powerbook G4 titanium

Hello everybody My name is John,
I have a video card, ATI RAGE 128 Mobility graphics card (with 8 MiB of VRAM; running at 2x AGP) could you upgrade( meaning buying a higher graphics card and installing it on your laptop) To a ATI Radeon 9000 Mobility graphics card running at 4x AGP, which shipped with 32 MiB of VRAM or a NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 (64 MiB) ????
If anybody has any suggestion or any idea If it is possible, please write back,
    Cheers,
    John

    Hi John,
Video cards in TiBooks are soldered onto the logic board, and cannot be upgraded.

  • Tecra A9 - Is it possible to upgrade the video card?

    Hey there,
I have a Tecra A9 PTS52E and it has Intel integrated graphics. I've read that this means I might not be able to upgrade to a better graphics card.
    Is this true?
    Thanks

    Hi glintings,
    > Is this true?
Yes, its true because the graphic card is fixed on mainboard so an upgrade is not possible.

  • Can I upgrade the video card in my 2009 iMac with the new ATI 2 GB VRAM card?

I am looking for more video RAM for video, CGI and animation work in Blender.
I may purchase Final Cut Pro X in the near future and I need to make sure there is enough video RAM to be able to work with this version of FInal Cut.
I, currently, use Final Cut 4 Express and though this runs fine, through Rosetta, on my current setup, I fear this much newer version may need more graphics power than I have, now.
I, also noticed some lag when working with Blender.
No where near as much graphics or video/animation lag as when I using Blender on my old G4m but it's still slightly noticeable.
I realize I may have to install this myself.
Can I purchase, somewhere, Apple's 1 or 2 GB ATI card seperately or from a third party vendor and install, myself.
I have seen posts that tell that the 27 inch iMac has a removable video card and is not soldered to the logic board like in the 21 inch models.
If true, is there a complete procedure for the iMac breakdown, installation of the video card and reassembly procedure?
My iMac only has the stock 256 MB VRAM graphics card.
If the take down looks more difficult than I feel I can attempt, I have an Apple authorized reseller, repair facilty here, in my area.
Could I purchase the card and have them install it for a fee?
ThanX for all of the info and advice, in advance
    Michel

You will need to check if your model originally was offered with a custom build option that included a different graphics card. If so, you may be able to have it done; here is a fellow who managed to do it on a 2011 iMac (graphics card not soldered) and the model originally offered a better card option:

    Is this yours:

In particular, click on the link in this section of the specs:
I'd check either with Apple and/or an AASP to see if it can be done with yours or if yours is one of those where it is part of the Logic Board/soldered to it.

  • Looking to upgrade the video card and power supply in the K330

Hello, I'm looking to upgrade the power supply and video card in the Lenovo IdeaCentre K330 but I need to know if these parts will be accepted by the mobo.
Here's the card name (no link, don't know if theres a restriction to off site links) ASUS 2GB GDDR5 DIGI+ VRM technology Graphics Cards HD7770-2GD5
The power supply name follows: Xion High Performance 1000 Watt ATX Power Supply XON-1000P14F
Thanks for reading, and extra thanks for a good reply

Thanks for replying, I have looked into other PSU's and came up with this: XFX PRO750W Core Edition 80+ Bronze ATX 750 Energy Star Certified Power Supply
Feedback? And main question is, will they both (video card and PSU) be compatible with the motherboard that come standard in the K330?
I don't really have a need for the front panel except the power, and backontrack buttons.
Also, the reason why I'm getting a high wattage PSU is because I might later decide to build my own PC with the upgraded parts, and put the old parts back into the K330

  • Could it be the video card?

    Hi,
Sorry I keep writing about my nonfunctioning G4, but I had a thought. I was told to look up the specific type of G4, and it appears, I think, that I have one with AGP Graphics. However, on the little card that came with the used computer at the store, it's written as a PCI model.
Is it possible that they put a PCI card in instead of a AGP one? I don't know much about this stuff, but I thought it might make sense. Is there a way to see what kind of video card I have set up, without (obviously) turning on the computer and looking at About This Mac, or whatever it's called in OS X.
    Thank you,
    Allan

    Hi
You can tell whether it's an AGP or PCI graphics from the alignment of the sound ports on the back of the computer. In the AGP version they're aligned vertically, one above the other. In the PCI version they're aligned horizontally, one next to the other.
Note the AGP graphics version also has PCI slots, so in theory it could have either an AGP or PCI graphics card installed. In the AGP graphics version the top slot is the AGP slot. Consequently when you look at the back of the computer, if the video connector is at the very top of the recessed area it must be an AGP graphics card. If it's slightly lower down with a silver blanking plate (or possibly a hole where the blanking plate should be) above it, it must be a PCI graphics card.
From your other post I think the problem is this. At the store they installed a version of Linux so they could sell the computer and not have to worry about OS licensing issues. When they did this, they had a monitor attached set to a higher resolution or refresh rate than yours. When you start up the computer, you see the initial Linux commands at the default resolution, which seems to imply the graphics card is fine. It then switches to the higher resolution or refresh rate used at the store, you hear your monitor click and you get an out of range type error. I suspect the graphics card is fine. The problem is the Linux installation is setting the resolution or refresh rate too high for your particular monitor. Installing OS 9 or OS X as mentioned in the other thread should set the resolution or refresh rate back to something your monitor supports.

  • Is it possible to upgrade the grapic card from ATI 4670 to ATI 4850

    Hello,
i bought a 27inch iMac with an ATI Radeon 4670 grapic chip. At the moment the peformance in Games is enough for me. But for the upcoming PC-Games like Diablo 3 or Starcraft 2, i need a better grapic chip.
So is it possible afterwards to upgrade the 4670 to 4850? It must be a MXM Standard. From there it should not be a problem or?
I hope someone can answer my question.
    Sorry for my bad english
    W. Jacob

    Hi-
Unfortunately, it is both brutally difficult and (of course) warranty voiding to attempt such a thing.
If you are adventurous, take a trip to ifixit.com to get an idea of the difficulity for swapping out the daughterboard graphics chip.
The only way to squeeze the most performance out of your iMac for gaming is to install 64 bit windows 7 via bootcamp, and max out with 16gb ram. Not much you can do besides that.
