HT1338 Desire to install "OS X Combo Update" so I can install QuickTime 7 to Mountain Lion

Desire to install "OS X Combo Update"so I can install Quick Time 7.
     Thanks. Roger

There's something I don't understand. First, open  > About this Mac, and tell me what you see next to Version. If it's 10.8.4, you have the latest version, so you don't have to reinstall 10.8.4.
What problem have you got installing QuickTime 7? Have you followed the steps of this page? > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3678

  • HT1338 hi what is the high os x version I can install on macbook build on 2007 with 2.16gh cpu and 120 gb harddisk

    Hi
what is the high os x version I can install on macbook build on 2007 with 2.16gh cpu and 120 gb harddisk.

Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
(NB: PowerPC applications can still be run in Snow Leopard using Rosetta, but they will not work in later versions of OS X.)
The OS 10.6 Snow Leopard install DVD is available for $19.99 from the Apple Store:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    and in the UK:
    http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard to bring it up to 10.6.8, or download the combo update from here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
Check via Software Update whether any further updates are required, particularly to iTunes.
You should now see the App Store icon in iTunes, and you now need to set up your account:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4479
You can now upgrade to Mavericks OS 10.9 for free IF you have one of the following Macs, with not less than 2GB of RAM, and at least 8GB of available space on your hard drive:
    iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)
    MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later), (15-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later), (17-inch, Late 2007 or later)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or later)
Mac Mini (Early 2009 or later)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
If you cannot run Mavericks you can purchase the code to use to download Lion from the App Store (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard):
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6106Z/A/os-x-lion
    or Mountain Lion:

  • HT1338 can I update OS X 10.5.8 to Mountain Lion?

C Is it possible to update my 24" imac opperating system to the latest operating system? I'm running OS x 10.5.8. Can I upgrade to Mountain Lion?

Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
             7. Xserve (Early 2009)
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
Am I eligible for the free upgrade?
See Apple - Free OS X Mountain Lion upgrade Program.
For a complete How-To introduction from Apple see Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.

    What kind of noise?
The only things I can think of that make noise are fans and disks. Fans usually will not cause the computer to shutdown as you describe. My guess is your disk drive died. I hope you made a backup prior to start the ungrade.

  • Office SP1 installed, but superceded Lync update still wants to install

Hello all, I had the same question in the SCCM forum and they told me to repost the same question here.  So my machine is Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 x64 running newly downloaded Office 2013 ProPlus w/ SP1 direct from MS.  I did not install the SP1
myself, I used the complete ISO off the volume license center that includes SP1. Loaded the updated OCT files from
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35554 to fix the install glitch as is documented.  Installed with customized OCT msp file.
I installed my updates deployed via SCCM 2012 R2 CU1, using all office 2013 updates, not expired or superseded.  I installed all of my published/deployed updates, but when running updates through Microsoft Update using Online, I see
Update for Microsoft Lync 2013 (KB2817678) 32-bit Edition as an update that is needed.  I check and this update
IS SUPERSEDED by the SP1 (
    http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=2850036 ).
That made me question do I actually have Office 2013 SP1 installed.  Checked the version number as documented "In order to determine whether SP1 is already installed, you can look for the program version in the list of installed programs
in the Programs and Features Control Panel item. If SP1 is installed, the version will be 15.0.4569.1506 or higher."
Mine shows, "15.0.4569.1506" so it is installed.
Now that you have the background, why is it asking me to install an update SP1 supersedes when I have SP1 installed?

  • HT4623 my iphone don't have the icon softwere update how I can install it

my iphone don't have the icon softwere update how I can install it

There will be no icon for a software update on your phone. If your iOS is 5.0 or later look in Settings > Software Update
If you are running an iOS version earlier than 5.0 you need to connect your phone to the computer you normally sync with. Start iTunes on your computer, select your phone in iTunes and select General in the row of tabs that are patented. Scroll down to Check for Updates and follow the prompts.

I tried mackeeper to recover files but it could not. Any other way any one has tried to recover a system library folder after OS upgrade?

No, it doesn't store a clone. You would have needed to make one with either SuperDuper or CarbonCopy Cloner.
If the files were in your ~/Library folder then they may still be there. As I said, you can access it by
going to your Finder "Go" menu hold the option key to choose "Library". I wouldn't think an upgrade would overwrite anything in ~/Library.
If you have a Time Machine backup you may also be able to use that to retrieve them.

Did somebody know how to install mysql in MacBook Air version 10.8.1 os x mountain lion?, Thanks in advance

Am following your doc now (https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3082) and wondering if the edit
First, fix the MySQL client library. (credit)
    For Lion, type:
    sudo install_name_tool -id /usr/local/mysql-5.5.22-osx10.6-x86_64/lib/libmysqlclient.18.dylib /usr/local/mysql-5.5.22-osx10.6-x86_64/lib/libmysqlclient.18.dylib
also applies to Mountain Lion.  Am guessing it does as your credit link resolves to an article re. the Snow Leopard install.  Thanks in advance.

  • Mac OS X 10.4.10 Combo Update unable to finish installing

    Hello:
I have been having trouble installing the Mac OS X 10.4.10 Combo Update. This update is meant to fix a bigger problem I have had recently. I'll briefly describe the bigger problem.
A few weeks ago, I downloaded the latest updates for iTunes, Security, and Quicktime. Now from what I've gathered, Quicktime 7.2 probably caused a few applications (Microsoft apps and Photoshop app) to have trouble opening because of "shared library errors". Even my Quicktime is having trouble working right now.
This Mac OS X 10.4.10 Combo Update is suppose to help resolve the issue, but it fails to install. Any insights as to what might be the actual problem installing the combo update would be greatly appreciated.
    Mifty

I have an emac and recently upgraded to Mac OS X (10.4.10)
I am using a wireless modem to connect to the internet. I am unable to download new versions of applications I already use.
    Error message:
A networking error has occurred: Error NSURLErrorDomain - 1005 (-1005). Make sure you can connect to the internet, then try again.
I have been advised to try several things, none of which worked.
Can anyone help. This seems to be a problem with the OS X, as I was able to download before I upgraded to the latest version.
    Thanks,

I unplugged all the unessesary devices and etc, ran Disk Utility after install?
    Any ideas?

Curious and perhaps helpful. Your ratio of installing Leopard to the update is 3:1 which is very close to what I got, only much slower. I just thought of this.
Your numbers are consistent and it takes your optical drive out of the equation.
Your HD may have bad sectors or you may not have enough RAM, but whatever it is, it's simply slower.
