  • HT1338 Error message with iphoto update

I just got a macbook pro with retina display, every time I try to update iPhoto I get an error message "iPhoto failed to download: use the purchases page to try again", I do as I told and yet I get the same error message. Can anyone help?

If you're having problems with the App Store you might try this:
1 - enable the Debug menu in App Store:
    open the Terminal application.
copy the command below and paste into the Terminal window:
defaults write com.apple.appstore ShowDebugMenu -bool true
    followed by Enter.
    launch App Store, login.
2 - select the Debug ➙ Reset Application option:
    3 - try again.

  • HT1338 error message when trying to download os x lion

Hi. I bought OS X Lion from itunes online. My computer has enough memory, etc., so that is not the problem.
I keep getting an error message. I think it might be some printers in the way - I think this because that kept popping up today when I was at the Genious Bar.
Any suggestions on how to find out what the error is? No code is given.
    Thanks in advance.

It appears Apple’s download servers are ‘overwhelmed’ today.  I couldn’t download the newest iTunes update or IOS 7 and there are a lot of discussions today about not being able to download. One poster said they had chatted with App Store support who confirmed the problem.

  • HT1338 Error message : "Failed to open page" - Slow & failed loading online pages

Lately I've been experiencing slow loading pages when I go online using Safari (that's all I usually use). Everything is updated. I often get the "Failed to open page" because it doesn't always even load. It stays blank for sooooo long then error messages appear "Failed...." Plenty of memory. Even while I type this the wheel begins to spinn, making me wait before I can complete this form. What can I do next? I use iCloud these days. Before iCloud I didn't have this problem, could there be a connection?

If your Safari won't open, one or more of the following procedures should fix it:
    1. Go to Home/Library/Safari/ folder and remove the following two files:
    ¥ history.plist
    ¥ lastsession.plist
(Safari may not load properly If these two files are corrupted.)
    2. Go to Home/Library/Caches/Metadata/Safari/ and remove the contents of that folder.
(These are just webhistory files and are not required for Safari to run. However, similar to preference files, problems can arise if they have become corrupt.)
    3. Locate the cookies.plist file that's located in the Home/Library/Cookies/ folder and remove it.
(Again, faults in stored cookies may interfere with Safari's launch.)
    4. Check whether any of your third-party internet plug-ins may be interfering with the launch of Safari by carefully moving them to the desktop (do NOT delete them at this stage). You can find these in two places:
Home/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ folder, and Global plug-ins are located in the Macintosh HD/Library/Internet Plug-ins/ folder.
Also look in Library/Input Managers where other third party add-ons may lurk. If you find a SIMBL folder, please note that some SIMBLE.bundles may require updating or possibly removal.
Restart Safari and place them back in the correct folders, one at a time, closing and re-opening Safari each time. If you discover that one of them was causing the problem with launching Safari, trash it and download and install a fresh copy.

  • My iMac 8.1 was slowing down and had permissions problems. I backed everything up, and then re-installed. Now all I get is a black screen. Power+D gives me a hardware error message: HDD-1336. Help!

My iMac 8.1 (10.6.8 ) was slowing down and had recurrent permissions problems, mostly with Java. I backed everything up, and then re-installed from time machine. Now all I get is a black screen which says I need to reboot. Power+D gives me a hardware error message: 4 MOT/1/40000003: HDD-1336 or HDD-1327. When I reboot from the OSX CD and start disc utilities everything checks out OK. When I reload 10.5.2 from the OSX CD everything seems to work OK and no more permissions problems. But then I loose all my email and safari stuff. Anyone have any ideas short of going back to my old PC?

    Cheers. Don
No unfortunatley it's too old, you are referring to Target Display Mode which became avialble in 2009, your 2008 needs to have the HD replaced. I'd still do that if everything else is OK or you can simply buy a new MM and display or even a new iMac  or an Apple refurbished iMac to save money.

  • Error Message from hardware test

    Hi,
I just recently bought a 1 gb PC2700 SODIMM 200 PIN DDR ram (EDGE TECH) and installed it in my 12"powerbook (1.5Ghz) to replace the original 256mb chip in there.
However, I got several application crashes and decided to run a hardware test and I got an error message for the ram:
    2MEM/2/4:DIMM1/J31
Does any of you know what does it mean? So is the memory bad? WHat should I do? replace the ram with edge tech or it's the compability, edgetech just won't fit on powerbook? But in the description they said it can be used on powerbook though.
    Please help!
    Thank you!

I'm experiencing the same problem, it's really horrible! can anybody give me a clue? Thanks in advance

  • 'Wi-Fi: Hardware not installed' error message, as if no modem

I am using a MacBook Air 13" late 2013 with Yosemite. I am not at home but have a valid working wifi network available in a University. Suddenly my internal modem is not recognised. What to do?
'Wi-Fi: Hardware not installed'  is the error message as if it is not found.

In some cases, this issue is caused by a hardware fault. A loose connection, a short circuit, or a microscopic break in a solder joint may open and close depending on temperature, making the failure intermittent.
Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already taken. Back up all data before making any changes.
    1. If you can connect to the Internet via Ethernet, Bluetooth, or a USB network device, make sure all available OS X updates are installed. If Wi-Fi is your only means of network access, skip this step.
2.. There are a few reports that the problem was solved by unchecking the box marked
              Wake for Wi-Fi network access
in the Power Adapter tab of the Energy Saver preference pane. I can't confirm.
    3. Reset the NVRAM.
    4. Reset the System Management Controller.
    5. Start up in Recovery mode. In the menu bar of the OS X Utilities screen, there's a Wi-Fi menu. Try to connect. If it works, select Install OS X. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade, so make a note of those before you begin.
    6. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.

iTunes randomly stops playing purchases that have previously viewed on the same hardware. It has an error message about HD. How can this issue be resolved?  What information is available besides the "learn more" option that does not deal with the problem?
Many people have the same problem. However, there is little or nothing readily available to users. This problem has existed for two or more years. Does anyone have anything to offer about this disturbing problem?

Thanks for the suggestion kcell. I've tried both versions
9.0.115 and 9.0.124 and both fail with the policy permission error.
I also tried with and without your crossdomain.xml file but
with the same result. It looks like this file is intended for URL
policy, instead of socket policy. Recently Adobe separated the two.
When I run with the files installed on my dev PC, it does
work, which makes sense because the flash player isn't loaded from
    an unknown domain.
I did get one step closer. If a crossdomain.xml in the server
root exists and the socketpolicy file is loaded from the app folder
then the first two warnings disappear. The logs now show:
    OK: Root-level SWF loaded:
    https://192.168.2.5/trunk/myapp.swf
    OK: Policy file accepted: https://192.168.2.5/crossdomain.xml
    OK: Policy file accepted:
    https://192.168.2.5/trunk/socketpolicy.xml
Warning: Timeout on xmlsocket://192.168.2.5:843 (at 3
seconds) while waiting for socket policy file. This should not
    cause any problems, but see
    http://www.adobe.com/go/strict_policy_files
    for an explanation.
Warning: [strict] Ignoring policy file with incorrect syntax:
    xmlsocket://192.168.2.5:993
Error: Request for resource at xmlsocket://192.168.2.5:993 by
requestor from https://192.168.2.5/trunk/myapp.swf is denied due to
    lack of policy file permissions.
Which basically says, everything is okay, but you stay out
    anyway.
PS: I found the XML schema files here:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/articles/fplayer9_security_02.html
    and the socket policy schema:
    http://www.adobe.com/xml/schemas/PolicyFileSocket.xsd.
UPDATE: When serving up the policy file on port 843 using the
example perl script then the socket connection seems to be accepted
and the connect succeeds. After that flex hangs trying to logon to
    the IMAP server.

Just purchased a new iMac G5. I installed Final Cut v.4. Intallation was succesful, but when I try to run it, I get the error message Missing Hardware: AGP graphics card. Shouldn't the iMac have come with a graphics card? What's going on?

Try doing a search on the Final Cut PRO forum. There is a solution to fixing the installer for the old version of FCP to run on a new G5.
